    This video was very helpful, thank you for the tips. I do have a question, let's say the question is "Summarize the passage" is there any tips on how to find the answer without wasting time. For example, would it work if i look at the first sentence of the passage?

    • @NurseCheung
      @NurseCheung  4 місяці тому +1

      For summary questions, a great strategy can be to look at the concluding sentence or the first sentence of the last paragraph, as these often encapsulate the main idea or summary of the passage. This can save you time and help focus on what the passage is fundamentally about, especially on a timed test like the TEAS.

      Thank you for all the help with your videos. I don’t need a high score in the teas as my school mainly goes off gpa, so I just needed to pass which I did.

  • @jinukim6828
    @jinukim6828 14 днів тому

    @NurseCheung Can't you find main idea sentence from first sentence of the first paragraph? I believe it is usually first or last sentence of the paragraphs. I thought there isn't a definite rule that main idea has to be in last sentence of the first paragraph. Am I wrong? Thank you.

    • @NurseCheung
      @NurseCheung  7 днів тому +1

      You're correct in noting that there isn't a universal rule stating the main idea must be located in the last sentence of the first paragraph in all texts. However, for the ATI TEAS exam, it's often the case that the main idea is presented in the last sentence of the introductory paragraph. This is a common structure in standardized tests to help organize information clearly. So, while this isn't a rule for all writing, it's a good strategy to keep in mind when preparing for the TEAS.

    Does this method work for all reading? (Finding topic sentence in the first paragraph....)

    • @nallely-b2y

      Im wondering this as well! Does the topic sentence, main idea, summary and supporting details always found on these locations in every passage?
