  • In our last video, we went and checked out the Los Lunas Decalogue Stone and ended up finding a few petroglyphs. Today we travel back there to see what other ancient things we can find at this site. Plus we made another discovery at this site that may be prehistoric. So join us as we journey to find more hidden gems.

    I have been to this area many times in the last twenty years. There has been much damage to the rocks and some of the petroglyphs . The rocks in the flatter area with all the walls were considered an encampment by researchers on discussing the details. The hunting looking holes were believed to be guard areas or defense fortifications There has been a lot of damage to the petroglyphs in the last twenty years both from weather and people. It looks to me there are many more non authentic rock scratching lately. There was a star chart mostly destroyed last time I was there. It was interpreted by an astrophysicist as about 173 BC as I remember. Most of the evidence that supports the Decalogue Stone authenticity has been destroyed. I still believe the Decalogue is real. One simple reason. It was blamed on college students, hogwash. IT was chiseled so deep it would have taken months. o college student works that hard on a joke. I would no longer tell most people where these things are they tell someone and the moron comes to destroy. Neither would I put on youtube any way to locate these sites.

      ❤l agree with you on the stone carvings and the style of the Hebrew writings engraved I would love to see a good quality image of the engraving of the Hebrew I study the Hebrew language in the oldest manuscripts and I am familiar with the changes of the passage of time. I could see in this video bad attempts to put out symbol of the native language but they are not correct in the way they placed them. It's a pathetic sickening site to see persons messing up a historic site... most often with the natives of that area there high places were not just for watching for enemies, but if it's a higher place then all of the others most often the held their holy rituals or rights of passage into a man or a hunter or to select a holy man or a chief. The elders would gather they did many things to cleanse the to make the choice or to become a man... depends on the reason they went, sometimes it was to gain wisdom.... as a native American indigenous tribe man, I have listen to the elders tell the history and most isn't written...these places are like our Churches they are holy places to the natives peoples... rights of passage or prayers.. to deface them is a disgrace of the persons who did so...
      I'm grateful when persons show respect for the history and if they understand it's a old holy place no longer used because these tribal people were hunted almost to extinction because their lands were wanted, suggested reading one good example is the history on the Trail of Tears... seeing the migration of the settlers forcing natives out of their homelands homes, the French Indian war against the British and settlers... trying to the French help the natives keep their homelands... then as more people came from Europe English they pushed the native peoples further away didn't see them as humans but as less then dogs...

    3:43ish - Correct, petroglyph elements can be "pecked" into the rock, but they can also be "scratched," or the correct term is "abraded" into the rock. It's hard to tell with the angle of your close-up, but you want to inspect the scared surface to see if it shows signs of weathering. I'm a Great Basin/ Inter-Montane Archeologist with 15 years of experience, I would say those are Native American glyphs from the late 1800s to early 1900s.

      We don't believe they are sandhill cranes due to them having four legs and a set of ears. You probably weren't able to see that in the video, our apologies. We will be showing a better picture of it in our next video when we journey to find prehistoric camel tracks in NM.

    Camels evolved in North America and migrated elsewhere. We can find fossil camel teeth here in Virginia that are Eocene or Miocene in age. That is long before people were in North America.

      Yes, there have been several prehistoric finds of camels in NM and CA that we are aware of. We will be posting a video later this week about us hunting down some camel tracks in NM.

    Although it did look old, and it could be, but seems like it would have been in Paleo Hebrew if it was real old.

    At 8:35 the writing on that rock is Hebrew. It says Halleluyah. Probably fairly recent, but looks like modern Hebrew.

    At 8:31 it looks like writing similar to Hebrew.....could this area have had rain and vegetation at the time these petroglyphs were created? These rocks look sedimentary as they are broken into flat pieces.

      Yes, there is a water source at the bottom of the mountain, so it is possible there could have been other food sources other than wild animals in the area. We did not check to see what was growing near the creek.

    Look At the eight minute 32 second still frame. It looks like Hebrew. Am I imagining it… Or is it just coincidence that it’s located close to the decalogue stone? You decide

    • @TrekkingThroughTime-zq2ms
      @TrekkingThroughTime-zq2ms  День тому

      Yes, we did notice that. There have been a few people to comment on it saying it reads halleluya. We haven't had a chance to confirm that yet. Yes, it is interesting that it is in the same area as the decalogue stone.
