- This movie is a remake of the hit series which starred, Phil Silvers as Sgt. Bilko. In this movie, Bilko tuns the motor pool and has all sorts of scams going on like gambling, renting out military vehicles, and so on, which are all violations. However, his commanding officer, Colonel Hall overlooks them, cause he is more concerned about his future, cause a lot of bases are being closed, and the inspector, Major Thorn was on the verge of doing that. But when he heard that Bilko was on the base, he turned into a mad dog. It seems that Thorn was a "thorn" in Bilko's side many years ago but through a series of misunderstandings, Thorn was accused of carrying out or being the brains behind one of Bilko's schemes, he would be sent to Greenland and his career has not gone as he hoped it would and now wants revenge on Bilko.

"Sgt. Bilko" stands out as a fantastic comedy and family-friendly movie. The 90s indeed boasted a plethora of feel-good films, and this one is no exception. A big shoutout is deserved for Steve Martin, Dan Aykroyd, Phil Hartman, and all those involved in creating this enjoyable movie experience.
Steve Martin at his finest. This movie makes me laugh hard every time i see it and believe me, i have seen it many times!
A Severely underrated movie. Laugh out loud funny.
Stop hating this film was funny and very easy to watch. I recommend to anyone that doesn't take it seriously!

As far as remakes go it was decent. I saw this before the Phil Silvers show and that blows the movie out the water but would've been a good stand alone movie. Plus it has Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd. And the ever, ever cute Debra Jo Rupp.

Lol at the joker who says "10 times better than Phil Silvers". Steve Martin is not fit to lick Phil's boots. This poor film was a commercial flop. Whereas the original Phil Silvers Bilko was getting as many as 8 million viewers for a late night slot on BBC1 in the 1990's. 40 years after it was first made. Phenomenal!

Steve Martin is funny but he is not Phil Silvers Funny. There is only one Sgt Bilko and for me that is Phil Silvers.
Steve Martin actually created his own Sgt. Bilko, according to Cathy Silvers- he did so, out of respect to her legendary father, Phil Silvers!!!

Yeah I just didn’t like Sgt Bilko as a character, he just felt too scummy to me. When I was watching this a part of me was thinking that he’d get in trouble for his actions and at the end he straightens up his act thanks to the help of the new recruit.
Heck if you showed this movie from a different perspective Bilko would be seen as the villain. The greedy sergeant who is able to get away with his schemes.
Steve Martin is a talented comedian, but why does he have to fuck up both Bilko and Clouseau? No more, please!

This was an insult to the memory of the great Phil Silvers. Reruns of The Phil Silvers show were often shown late at night on the BBC and new generations got to see how funny they are.
Nothing against Steve Martin particularly,especially when doing his own stuff. However this and the Clouseau movie should never have been made.
Peter Southern You're absolutely right Pete. Phil Silvers was brilliant as Bilko, as was Peter Sellers in the role of Clouseau.

I just fail to understand how anyone, anywhere finds this funny. For a start it had Dan Ackroyd in it. Apart from Driving Miss Daisy and The Blues Brothers everything he has been in has been solid shit.
