I get what you mean, but Run for Roses isn't giving those sad lyrics to convey emotions of sadness like you tall about.
It talks about strength, determination to reach their dreams for the future, and standing united.
So i kinda like that the choreo is showing a little battle in the pre-chorus, they stand together in the chorus and use symbolisms like going hand to hand.
And the 'da di dum' bit that is repeated shows them making fun of their haters (they even do raspberries with the up and down hand motion at the side of their faces).
I did mention after that I think a holding hands walking down the street vibe would’ve been fun too which would’ve been the empowerment girl power route. Although good to know about the da di dum bit.
There is one line in "Dash" that explains NMIXX to a "T"!! "Towards the opposite of what the world wants we ride" In other words "We are going to do our style! You can form you're own opinions and that's valid. But we're still gonna be us regardless!"
I loved Dash so much. That prechorus was great and i didnt find the chorus that repetitive bc of the little harmonies? in between them saying dash idk i loved that detail. They sound great my only nitpick is the choreo, its not great...

tbh Nmixx really can’t win cuz even when they have proper vocal choruses with no “silly” repeating hook, they’re not finding the success I THINK they deserve. Dash should’ve had a longer singing part in the chorus but i feel like other than that, this is a BANGER.
But Love me like that was their biggest hit and it had a repetitive chorus and it also suited their identity of being militant and disciplined/fierce. I think Dash is close to that, I just personally strongly dislike the word they chose to repeat lol.
exactly if they were to come out with love dive (ik it doesn’t fit them at all) or any other hit song they still wouldn’t get their flowers just bcs of who they are..it’s super annoying
@@zara7302 true. It's not because of the song/ music. Those people (i mean haters) just don't like NMIXX and JYPe. So they always try to find something to hate.

I agree with you on Dash, I like everything but the chorus. If they'd gone hard on the R&B it would sounded so much fuller, they're vocals are already shining; they just needed more space to show it off.

You make me aware of so many things in your reactions. I don’t even notice things that could be fixed like key changes, etc. Always refreshing to get a perspective that’s different from some other creators who only ever say “wow this kpop song amazing”. well it's not different to this either because at the end of the day. Music is subjective. whatever you like. you should like. whatever you didn't like. you don't have to like. "Things that could be fixed like key changes etc" there's nothing to fix because it's not broken. it's made that way. there's no wrong in making music. that's why genres exists. There's literally a local metal band in my country their songs are literally just 1-2 words over and over on top of this heavy metal instrument and people are eating it up so do I. lyrics are also nonsense. one is just "MASTURBATE MASTURBATE MASTURBATE" over and over. lol
There are reactors that didn't like dash because they just didn't like change up. but not many go around saying "It should be like this, like that" because that's pretentious really. I'm okay with people not liking a song in general or even pointing out things they didn't like. it's fine, hell if they want things added it's fine too. but if someone is saying "this is how to fix this song" like you're just wrong at that point.
@@gragalakaisel1477 yeah I agree with a lot of that but I also understand the view that it can suck when a song is doing something good and changes to a melody you don’t like because you can only change the way it sounds and keep the parts you like if you commit plagiarism. I appreciate that Koko3op gives us his interpretation of a song, usually other reactors don’t do that because they think it’s pretentious and that’s fine. But this creator isn’t afraid of that and just wants to create a similar sounding song with what his ear wants to hear but because of the legality he can only share that with his audience here. I feel like there’s always two sides and he has no malice behind it. He hopes his videos can reach someone’s ears at the company and bring change to the way they highlight the artists vocals more in songs. That’s what his revisions are really about. In this situation, I see more of a lack of conformity, rather than pretentiousness.
This is the first comeback I feel JYP actually is utilizing their vocal talents much better than before (and dance talents because I think Party O'Clock and Love Me Like This choreo was ass). Lots of good moments on the rest of the EP too. I was surprised to see how much you hated the Dash chorus lol that caught me off guard. Anyway was nice to hear your thoughts.
True, the vocals are definitely shining. Yeahh watching it back even I was surprised by how much I disliked it at first listen lol. During the rewatch I didn’t mind it as much but Soñar is definitely my favourite.
@@Koko3op yeah Soñar is good! Actually I was mad at Dash too on the first listen but for a different reason lol I thought it was too short. But eventually it clicked, like I actually appreciate how it feels like rushed almost. Which I think actually suits a song called "Dash", with the lyrics its got
I was surprised at seeing him not liking the chorus and calling it wack. The first person I've seen the whole week saying that.
JYP had always utilized NMIXX's vocal and dance talents brilliantly since the very beginning. So idk what you're on about. You just have a problem with their experimental production style and sound at the time, which I'll admit, was what NMIXX was trying to explore and nail right for a long time. It took a lot of trial and error but the group finally did it with Party O Clock and Love Me Like This. They were not ass, they're proof that NMIXX was on the right path in developing their distinct sound and identity. Dash is proof that NMIXX has finally perfected it.
@@ammaranuar2544 i said those songs' choreo was ass, Love Me Like This wasn't as bad but yeah I stand by that fully with Party O'Clock, that choreo was terrible especially the chorus. I also completely disagree that their vocal talents were utilized well on O.O and Dice. There was no nuance to their vocal parts, nothing to show off their individuality. Just lots of overly-high, straightforward belting and talk-singing. This new EP is MILES ahead of those early songs.
You should really check out NMIXX ft Young K - Run for Roses at BAND Live. The version is alot better imo, plus ofcourse live vocals. Young K is an amazing male vocalist as well. You'll love it.
Really enjoyed the EP overall. I've been a fan from the beginning but it feels like they're settling into their identity and like you said, those switch-ups are really smooth now. I agree that I wish "Dash" was longer. Outside of "Run for Roses" and "Sonar," my other favorite b-side is "Passionfruit." Waiting for some brave remixer to merge that song with Drake's, lol.

This is my fave album from them, run for roses is probably my favorite because of the almost rebel, we stick together vibe it has and how I wasn’t expecting them to do a country/folk song like that. You should check out their it’s live performance for it that they sang with YoungK from Day6 who was a writer for the song. Their changes are so iconic too honestly, I actually really wished they did it in every title track but of course the way they are now are still amazing. The way they’re going now I feel like they’re establishing themselves a lot more and finding their sound and places in the group. It’s early in their career for it but I can just tell that when they do solo activities/songs that how they are working as a group will be a really strong foundation. Lily is being more known for stuff other than vocals, and I feel like bae is able to utilize her voice to its fullest in this album. Kyujin has always had this stage presence as their center and she’s so consistent it’s amazing. Haewon and sullyoon are also improving vocally while Jiwoo is becoming even bolder and her voice is just so easy to pick out. Nmixx is so talented I just know they’re on their way up
can't wait to hear your thoughts on the bsides on patreon, even if you don't end up liking them! I think its a very interesting EP like in terms of how their vocal direction has evolved since their 1st year.

I keep coming back to this album. I think RFR, Sonar, and Dash are gonna be HIGH in my spotify wrapped. My favorite kpop release of the year so far I think, at least group-wise.
Also highly recommend watching their live band performance of RFR and the behind the scenes recording stuff!

Yes it would be nice if run for roses had an emotional video with they acting but I don’t think they had the budget for that. It’s a bang anyway

They did Run for Roses on Its Live as a stand-and-sing performance. You can check it out off camera to see if it worked better without the choreo. I'm undecided

Yay! I'm glad you uploaded this because I wanted to hear your thoughts! I agree that NMIXX is really forming their identity. Everything is more focused, organized and seamless in my opinion. I'm happy for them because with all the talent they have i was worried that JYP/SQU4D wouldn't really get it together for them, but they finally are and that makes me happy!
Sonar is great and I wish they started the EP with that track. Starting with DASH, to Sonar and then to Run for Roses breaks my immersion in the album for me personally lol. I like DASH as a whole and as the title but I agree that it should've been like 30 seconds to a minute longer. Especially at the end because it would've added even more impact in my opinion. Especially since the chorus is so simple. And for Run for Roses, i kinda get what you mean with the choreo. When i first watched the video, the choreo didn't do it for me completely, and i thought the song was fine. But listening to it in the concept of the album, i love it a lot more! It's a good western-style track! I hope you enjoy the rest of the album, because IMO it's really good! BOOM and Passionfruit are my favorites!

totally agree about the run for roses performance video. i watched it when it dropped and i felt like something was off. then i saw they did It's Live with youngk and it was much more fitting and enjoyable for this song

It’s called a performance video so why would you not expect it to be all choreography?
@@glenlake8 well when you initially check something out you expect the song to match the performance video especially on first listen. When it doesn't you then express what you'd hope for, does that make sense?

NMIXX's music is top-tier. Their dancing is phenomenal. Their vocals are amazing. Their rapping is impressive. Their visuals are great. Their M/Vs are intriguing.

The chorus to “Dash” is beyond super catchy. Dash is NMIXX’s BEST vocal performance to date. Kyujin was hiding some nice vocals and Bae…..WHAT !!! Where did that come from ?! All members did an amazing job. My favorite song so far. Some people want to be critical for the sake of being different I guess. There has to be that 1% but now that there are 99 more who enjoyed every bit of Dash.

Run for Roses definitely feels like a song that was sort of formulaically written? like written in chunks and they just stitched it together (not to say it's BAD) but just sort of put together and not a single piece. But I get it.....can't spend all the money on all the songs. There are the main release songs, the songs where they experiment, and the songs that kind of fill out the rest of the EP. RfR def felt like the last unfortunately

For some reason I liked Run For Roses when they performed it a while back but when they released it I hated it cause it sounded strangely empty. Like I guess I expected more sounds cause when it was live it sounded like there was more.

Creo que se estan llevando el nmixx muy lejos, osea si se entiende el concepto de cambios de ritmos, pero que sean coherente y no un salto a algo que no combina, tienen potencial vocalmente pero la produccion musical es la que esta estancando
This might be unpopular but I feel like the quality of their choreo declined after o.o and dice era. Love me like this was Alr but everything else wasn’t great to me

that’s a crazy statement..these three song choices being promoted is the best choice tbh. especially with how well people reacted to sonar and how well run for roses is doing as a bside right now. i love boom but it wouldn’t make as much noise as rfr did! it’s not a very strong bside

The problem with NMIXX is that they are too knee-deep in their concept. They have the best talent in the industry but in stead of fully taking advantage of it, they put their concept first before anything else.
That's the point. Wht tf are they called nmixx if you want them to stray away from their musical identity? Nmixx is here to mix every concept & genre that there is, fe304 is arguably one of their cohesive album to introduce kpop stans to their lore just like how they did during entwurf.

BTW Dash is NMIXX most successful song in korean charts and it's been only a couple of days. Im so happy that the girls keep getting bigger each comeback. The album is full of title track contenders, is actually insane the quality of this comeback.
And this is NMIXX, they mixx genres into one song, if you go watching NMIXX expecting something different from that, then you should just not react to them.

And btw i saw in another comment this reactor likes the song and the chorus after a second listen so.. That's why i prefer reactors to watch 2 times, sometimes the first listen isn't all good then the 2nd listen is better.
@@anagodinho3993 oh a lot were critical, but most of the criticism was about the change up. A lot of people are still not used to it. But i never saw anyone (till now) say anything bad about the chorus, i only saw about the change up. And 2 reactors that didn't liked how the girls have lip piercings, but that's something about the music video and fashion, not the song itself.

this reactor reacts to a song and if he doesn't like them he goes "This is bad!" as if his subjective music taste is the absolute truth and people are eating it because it's "unbiased" when you can literally see, hear, watch things that he didn't like here on other songs that he love.
I do kinda wish JYP would stop making them do the whole singing during the dance practice routine though....i think everyone gets it, these girls can sing and sing and dance at the same time but especially for Lily and Haewon....seems like unnecessary risk to their vocal chords to belt that hard while doing FULL choreo at the same. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD do it.....even Stephen Curry rarely ever takes half court shots during games

All artist do stage practices but they just don’t post or release it for various reasons…….
And for NMIXX…they feel like releasing it because they think it’s good enough for others to see……
And what stands out about NMIXX as a group isn’t just because they can sing( all K-pop artists can sing even though not everyone agree….but they wouldn’t debut if they couldn’t sing)……but because of how good they are at it……what I mean about good is that you can see how they safely hit their notes and everything without straining that’s what stands out about them……so what they are doing is just doing their jobs well and not overdoing or anything like that.
