Thanks for the Shout out Double D and enjoy the 3040, remember with 3Hp a catch doesnt stall the lathe it catapults you over it LOL. going to have a clser look at the freezer kiln i just got my Freezer to build one
I got the 70-3040 almost a year ago. I’ve been happy with it so far, I also got the bed insert they make for it, which I like a lot. I like having the room to slide the tail stock back out of the way and still have bed to use as normal. I’ve only turned one large piece with the full depth, the normal 24” bed will do 99% of what I do so the insert is great. I do wish it had a spindle lock instead of having to use the wrenches, for example it can be difficult when trying to use the worm screw. It has plenty of power and runs real smooth. I’ve even talked to tech support with a question and they were very responsive, which I haven’t had with other manufacturers. Good luck!!
Tha ks for that feedback! I agree 100% on the spindle lock. The other thing I wish it did was eject the live center from the tailstock when you pull the quill all the way in. Minimal frustrations in the grand scheme of things, but some things I miss from my Jet. The power and options are amazing!
Very informative I’m sure anyone considering the purchase of one of these lathes is ready to buy one. Can’t wait to see the projects that are going to be done. 😊
I LOVE this lathe. I don't LIKE that it doesn't have a true spindle lock, but that's not the end of the world. The one thing I CAN NOT STAND is that there is no self-ejecting tailstock. Might never be an issue for some people, but my One WAY live center and some pen mandrel are not solid pieces, so the knock-out bar doesn't work with those.

Thanks, Sid! Thank you for showing your process as well!

Omg that sliding bedways is the best feature ive ever seen in a lathe!! Awesome.
Happy turning 🙂
Thanks, Leona!!!! I'm pretty excited!
Couple of pretty cool features. I like the handle mechanism for changing belts. You're gonna love the lathe not against the wall!

Congratulations
Did number one film your intro? It was a funny introduction.
No, she did not.... it was one of my buddies who helped over Sully in. LOL
Nice lathe, Daniel. Best wishes with it.
(Not lathe) Bill
Thanks, Bill!
Nice
Thank you! Always exciting to get an upgrade!
@@TournageDubois absolutely - I'm just trying to convince the wife i'm due one too....😂
@surfcoastwoodcraft hahaha... sometimes the biggest hurdle. Thankfully mine is because of my art shows I've done!
@@TournageDubois I often think its easier to ask for forgiveness than permission! 😂
So how do you like it seven months later? I am also looking at a Robust but this looks like a decent machine for the price

This is the coolest lathe to me.. is there anything on the market like this?
What are the cons!?
Ahh, so the
1. auto eject on tail stock
2. No spindle lock .😢
Those are all mini lathe hiccups..😂
Well, almost perfect 😮
Yes, those are my two biggest gripes. But to me, they are rather minimal, and I am DEFINITELY happy with this purchase!
I bet you are. So nice . Thanks for the quick response 😊
No worries!!! Thanks for watching!
What are you going to make first on your new toy?!!
Already made a big bowl for next weekend!
Этот Рикон- бомба! По сравнению с ним мой рм 2014 не такой уже и крутой.
Привет из России.
Thank you for the feedback! It is pretty nice, and can't wait to get some pieces done on it!
@@TournageDubois у меня тоже был джет 1642, поменял его на джет 1840.
Буду следить за вашим Риконом.
