It is something that I am very much considering creating though, because you’re right that it would be awesome to screenshot. Thanks for watching and I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help!
I have almost zero knowledge of electronics and I wanted to learn something by building a simple toy for my kid. I planned to use two groups of three red blinking LEDs each for "turn signals" and three white LEDs for "headlights". I also wanted to add a couple of green blinking LEDs for the signal lights on the "dashboard" when the blinkers are on, and one blue LED for the indicator that the headlights are on. Each group of turn signals would have one switch (single throw), there would be one more for the headlights and maybe one "main" switch for the whole circuit. I also wanted to add one more LED which would be on whenever the main switch is on. So in the last few days I've been browsing youtube for useful tutorials and that's how I found this one. And I like it :). Since I have an issue with my LEDs blinking at different frequencies (and I have no idea why that's happening), I'm now thinking about using relays and making something like you did in this video.

I very much appreciate all your wiring instructional videos. I have found them invaluable. I'm working on a 1972 Ford F100 in which the turn signals work great but the hazard flashers don't blink and stay on constant. It looks like the simplest solution would be to add a flasher relay to the hazard circuit. All lights are LEDs so the installed and additional flasher relays are specifically for LED bulbs. It's never a dull moment. LOL
It sounds like you’re on the right track for sure. The hazards and turn signals often have separate flashers because the hazard circuits have power 24/7. The turn signals only have it with the key on. Good luck! I’m cheering for you!

Very informative... Along with your last one with how to wire turn signals, easy to follow and understand,😉👍 this Hazard video maybe even make me think about adding hazards to my classic motorcycle that didn't have them originally it only had turn signals. My only question is now how about an explanation of how to isolate that circuit for brake lights if you use the white wire we're not supposed to be minding for running lights/tail lights or parking lamps, how do you wire the brake lights up with the turn signals and isolate front for back?

@@shalvinshaileshsingh1613 Actually, I figured it out! Took me two weeks, but once I got it right, it was dead simple. Decided to upload my solution to it, which you'll find on my channel ☺
Couldn't you tap into the fused power coming in to power the 4 way hazard light switch DPST first then have it power the turn signal switch which is on / off / on second ? Only one switch is going to be on at one time....correct? The way you are bridging power from one side of the DPST switch to power both sides wouldn't the same thing be accomplished by having the power come into one side of a SPST switch then splitting the power coming out the other side ( pole ) of the same switch to power both sides of the turn signal switch?
Thank you I will need to try on my 75 beetle vw and I got a square relay with 3 proud the original flasher relay which led relay I will need. And for tail light I assume I don’t need relay.
Hi.... ive just installed this Hazard system on my car and after some issues identifying the wires to the bulbs from under the dash it works 👌.. I'm new to electrics and have studied the different types of relays and would like to ask, could i use a mini double pole relay "2 on 2 off" instead of 2 single relays ... I'm thinking I'd like to fit Hazards on my m/cycle and don't have many places to conceal the assy... Thankyou soo much for you're vids ..
Great content! I'm hooked for sure. Is it possible to add led flashers to the automobile hazard light circuit in order to utilize the vehicle hazard switch instead of having to add an external switch? My thought is that if I could just tap into the hazard relay we could eliminate the need for an auxiliary switch.
Great video . Will help with wiring my series 2a landy. However i have a question. Could only one relay be used. If the relay was wired before the flasher. And the switch was more of a negative swtich.
Stay tuned - I’m actually working on a video right now that may be even better than what you want! I expect I will have the video live sometime next week. It will (hopefully) be turn signals, parking lights, brake lights and hazards.
Excellent training. I'm rewiring my VW SP2 and your videos have been essential to my success. Just added the hazard flasher today. One question: the blinkers only work with key on (12V ignition), but I want the hazard to work with 12V Bat (no key on required). Without 12V ign power to terminal 30 on the blinker relays, the hazards do not work. How can I set it up for key on blinkers but no key on required for hazards?
Thanks for watching! In many vehicles the hazard circuit is entirely separate from the turn signals. It will have two flasher too. So I guess if I were doing what you are doing, I would have a separate flasher for the hazards and it fed directly from a 24/7 power source (fused properly at the battery) going to pin 30. That way you’ll have hazards anytime with the car on or off! I think I may actually have a video showing this in my wiring playlist. Hmmm
It's actually really easy. That hazard switch is bypassing the turn signal switch and going to both relays. But what if you wanted the left turn signal lightbulbs to be independent flashing?
You could! I just did it this way in the video to keep everything as simple and separated as possible. These videos can get really hard to explain if I have too many things connected together!
So, can you provide clarification. I want to add flashers and hazards to my side-by-side. I looked at your video with the 4 relay setup, then I saw this one on hazards. Would would the 4 relay setup look like with hazards? What happens when hazards are on and the turn switch is applied? Thanks for your videos they are great.
Cool. I liked the first video and the explanation of the hazard switch actually makes perfect sense. It was a kind of why didn't I think of that moment. Now for another curve ball. How would you wire this all up to make the turn signal switch override the hazard switch? That is, if the hazards are on and you want to indicate that you will be turning to one side, the lights on the other side must temporarily switch of until you cancel the turn signal switch.
I enjoyed the video, but I watched this video hoping this same question was answered where the turn signal overrode the hazard on one side or the other. Thanks.
I have 5 push buttons switch as there race buttons for a motorcycle. I've used two buttons one for each indicator and have one that aint being used. I was wondering if I could use it for the hazards even though it only has two wires or would it just light both sides up every time I push the indicators on
This was a great tutorial! I have a Polaris rzr with turn signals but no hazard lights. Was there any specific reason for using a double pole switch over a single pole for the 4 way function? Only thing I could think of was amp load?
wow, thanks hope to fix a single turn signal that does just does not work. On another note. I've tried step down converters and resistors but everything always gets so hot. What is a safe way to drop the car voltage from 12v to 6 volts without overheating. I would like an adjustable voltage but the small step down converter gets extremely hot. I am not an electrician and am a total noob. Maybe a general resistor that I can put in series to gradualy reduce the volage or is that dumb? Thanks for your videos. I have you as my home page and hope to learn a lot from these.
Thank you for making very informative videos. I am planning on making a turn signal and hazard light circuit on my side by side. As I think of the circuit you built i wonder would would Happen if the turn signal was activated at the same time as the hazards. Is there a risk of damaging the equipment.
If both are turned on at the same time, it will simply appear as though the hazards are flashing because the bulbs will be getting power from two different sources. It won’t be a problem, just a lot of flashing lights :)
You can use a basic switch instead of a double-prong switch because you flip both sides at a time regardless. Just split the white wires coming out of the switch and you have the same effect.
Question….. I am putting turn signals on my 1921 Model T but I want to have an indicator light on the dashboard (one light for both left and right) I copied your instructions on the turn signals but now am stuck. Can you give me an idea? Love the videos. Mike
I have a 1973 Mach1 I hope this will work for me when I got the car the 4ways did work they cut the wires, I have all my lights but not the 4ways I am going to try this thanks.
I need help with the wiring for turning backup camera with turn signal. Can I use similar circuit using the relay switches for turn signals to power my back camera and also trigger the Stereo backup camera signal.
You didn't demonstrate the turn signals functioning after wiring in the hazard switch. What about using other switches? I have a 7 pin On/Off/On switch and a 5 pin hazard switch (dpst). Can't I use these? Okay, so it looks like I cannot use the hazard switch with 5 pins. Only 1 pin is an output. So, do you have recommendations on a particular switch that is a rocker with illuminated label?
Sadly I do not, but if you wire the circuit in this method, any basic switch that will attach to a handlebar should work. Also - I have some other videos coming up soon that I’m working on that are new methods of accomplishing this same thing. So stay tuned!
@@WiringRescue you are amazing. I am in the electric bike industry and I would love to learn how to wire turning signals on these bikes. They are extremely necessary. Your videos are very helpful.
@@garciabrothersebiking - if I can come up with a cheap handlebar switch, I’ll add that video to my to-do list. I’m glad to see people are using this info for cool stuff!
@@WiringRescue just turning signal, they mostly come with the front and rear lights. Brake light and horn so we just need turning signals and a handlebar switch that looks nice and clean. Because this industry is growing rapidly and there is nobody out there that is working on these. Turning signal lights are very necessary for electric bikes and even regular bike because a lot of cyclists do not have the ability to make turn signals using their arm, keeping only one arm on the handle bars, I coincided that a pass to a free fall . Hahah
I am trying to wire small led lights. Do I need a specific led flasher to wire them per your wiring diagram? And how do I estimate the size of the fuses needed to wire them this way?
It depends. Is your switch rated at a high enough amperage to handle the amperage draw of the light bulbs? Are the wires and flasher also rated at a high enough amperage rating for the bulbs you are using? If so - then it should be fine. The only thing to watch out for at that point would be somebody in the future adding regular bulbs in place of LED’s and it burning the circuit. If you have the fuse properly sized though, it will pop the fuse before it burns the wires or switch. Hopefully that made sense. Lol. If not, I can try again.

You’re the second person that has asked me that. I should probably add this to my to-do list.
I enjoyed the video, but I watched this video hoping this same question was answered where the turn signal overrode the hazard on one side or the other. Thanks.
I have 5 push buttons switch as there race buttons for a motorcycle. I've used two buttons one for each indicator and have one that aint being used. I was wondering if I could use it for the hazards even though it only has two wires or would it just light both sides up every time I push the indicators on
Thanks
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
This was a great tutorial! I have a Polaris rzr with turn signals but no hazard lights. Was there any specific reason for using a double pole switch over a single pole for the 4 way function? Only thing I could think of was amp load?
You can't connect the two white wires in this system together, otherwise you will always have a 4-way flasher.
wow, thanks hope to fix a single turn signal that does just does not work.
As I think of the circuit you built i wonder would would
Happen if the turn signal was activated at the same time as the hazards. Is there a risk of damaging the equipment.
If both are turned on at the same time, it will simply appear as though the hazards are flashing because the bulbs will be getting power from two different sources. It won’t be a problem, just a lot of flashing lights :)
@ thank you. After I sent the message I was thinking I might use pin 87a to feed the turn signal switch.
Can I utilize a self latching button for hazards
Would I need a diode on each switch wire? Wondering what would happen if the hazard switch was on and the indicator switch. Wouldn't it be short?
You can use a basic switch instead of a double-prong switch because you flip both sides at a time regardless.
Just split the white wires coming out of the switch and you have the same effect.
Question….. I am putting turn signals on my 1921 Model T but I want to have an indicator light on the dashboard (one light for both left and right) I copied your instructions on the turn signals but now am stuck. Can you give me an idea? Love the videos. Mike
Thank you
I have a 1973 Mach1 I hope this will work for me when I got the car the 4ways did work they cut the wires, I have all my lights but not the 4ways I am going to try this thanks.
Great video, just wish you had a downloadable diagram I could print off and take to the car, then it would have been perfect.
I need help with the wiring for turning backup camera with turn signal. Can I use similar circuit using the relay switches for turn signals to power my back camera and also trigger the Stereo backup camera signal.
Can I use a 3 pin SPDT switch to achieve this?
Is there any button switch replacement for the hazard switch? Instead of the lever style?
Great video, but what if your classic car uses a single flasher and not 2 of them?
You familiar with nissan vehicle with hazard switch and flasher units
You didn't demonstrate the turn signals functioning after wiring in the hazard switch. What about using other switches? I have a 7 pin On/Off/On switch and a 5 pin hazard switch (dpst). Can't I use these? Okay, so it looks like I cannot use the hazard switch with 5 pins. Only 1 pin is an output. So, do you have recommendations on a particular switch that is a rocker with illuminated label?
Where do you get your wire, everywhere i look is outrageous
This is an awesome video but do you know which handlebar switch would work ?
Also - what lights do these bikes need? Just turn signals? Or do you need a headlight and brake light too? Hazards? Less = better! ;)
Hahah
Will it short if you use either side indicators while hazard is on, for argument sake.
I am trying to wire small led lights. Do I need a specific led flasher to wire them per your wiring diagram? And how do I estimate the size of the fuses needed to wire them this way?
I have a led flasher and I’m getting the left blinker indicator on when I turn on the parking/ headlights?
I am running led directional lights .Do I have to go through a relay?
Can this work with a 3 way relay?
Can you make auto hazard off?
