After selling the easy chain tensioner on the comfort series saws for over 10 year I think I have only seen a hand full fail and that was usually down to wear and tear or the customer not maintaining it properly.
They all sound terrible, but I guess it's because they are all brand new so they are all being ran too rich by the computer? I'm more interested in how they will run after 3 tanks of gas or however long it takes for the computer to start leaning them out.
They all claim to have more power than the models they're replacing. They don't perform like they do. These are a huge step back in performance and a step forward in design/appearance. Stihl dropped the ball with these saws, again. Not even suitable for a novice homeowner. Overpriced, underpowered, and very disappointing in performance. I've ran them all. Not impressed at all. The old models they replaced are much better. That's not really saying much because those older models weren't up to par either.
I’ve got a mid 90’s MS 180 with the carb upgrade that gives you the tuning of the H & L ( I forgot what it’s called) it’s sat at the bottom of the garden wood store and in a dry spot, it’s cut a lot of wood 🪵 and it’s had a lot of hard work, I could go get it tomorrow and put a new bar & chain on top up with fuel and oil and 2 primer pull’s and on the 3rd or 4th it’ll start up and put all those saws to shame 🧐💪🏼 I’m not impressed either 🤔 They seem flat and no torque whatsoever 🤷🏻♂️

I’m presuming the 162 is new and the 170 has done a bit of work? Once the 162 is run in, it will cut perfectly. Also have you tuned the 162? Or is it right out the box? Every saw is different.
@MachineryNation not buying that, the 170 is 10 years old, the 162 is out of the box, had it back to the tech, says it's working fine, as soon as I start to cut with it, it boggs out... powerless.

Not a fan of the single bolt holding the bar on. It puts to much stress on the chain tensioner, and this resulted in a broken tensioner on my MS 251.
Not really, if its torqued down properly. Its the same as the wheel of a car: Its not being held on by the bolts, those just create the pressure. Its held by the friction created by the clamping force.
No. It pivots on the single bolt and breaks the tensioner stud. That's how it is.
