For anyone wondering, the fruit slices with the black seeds are dragonfruit. It's basically tastes like kiwi with the watery-ness of watermelon.

No I'm not, the word hipster is thrown around so fucking much.
Apparently I'm not allowed to like stuff now as its "hipster".
I like all kinds of music, some of its a bit weird and I get why people think that.
But I don't like it purely because I'm trying to be cool or whatever the fuck a hipster is now.
I like it because I like it.
Actually this album is incredibly through composed. Moonjock, Mercury Man, Rosie Oh, Amanita and kind of New Town Burnout are all songs that have distinct sections that repeat within themselves then move on to something else.
I prefer to taste this band.

extremely underrated
Well I love it, and it does repeat itself, but really only once. If you look up the lyrics there's basically one two minute song set side by side with a tiny new part at the very end. There are way more distinct parts than most songs, which have verse chorus. This has the honey roll part, the pink lady part, the good thing part, the ripe and whole part, the take for me take for me part, and the I'd be a rush or whatever it is part. That's a lot of verses and choruses before it repeats.
This song is a youngh adult male coming to terms with his mortality and deciding weather to plant a seed and leave legacy thusly cutting his freedom and wilderness short... The meanings for fruit and applesause metaphorically change w context .... I love these guys ....

Drugs so on so on as a substitute for lost feelings which are stunted so it's difficult to self create.These lyrics are intense. Stages of climbing. This is my favorite track of Centipede Hz, I really wish this was the video for it. I love Animal Collective, they are my favorite band of all time.

Yeah I'll admit I don't know if they added a lot more in the studio or whatever. I'm assuming it's going to sound pretty similar to the live version though.
I don't think they were touring the songs thinking "oh yeah this is one we're not putting on the album". They decided to release those separately but only after they'd recorded all of the songs in the same sessions and realised those two didn't fit with the other ones in an album but worked okay on their own.
This sounds like it would work in an old school Sonic The Hedgehog underwater level.

After a few times through the album, this is definitely my favorite new track. Honestly one of the things I love about this band is their diversity; I was both hoping and terrified they would just release another MPP.

I've been trying for weeks to figure out what the melody in the chorus reminds me of, and I JUST NOW figured it out. "Pale New Dawn" by Jets To Brazil. Weird.

I just checked the NPR World Cafe interview again (where they played Crimson and talked about it) and Dave says it "actually isn't on the record but it was recorded during the session"

They were playing it all last year and I'm pretty sure they've specifically said they recorded it during the same sessions but just didn't include it on the album, same as Honeycomb/Gotham except releasing it after instead of before.

Brilliant track. I love that there are 5 unique sections before the song ever goes back and repeats, almost through composed. But I must admit I was rather disappointed by the album initially (and this song especially). Albums like Strawberry Jam and MPP have such a definite soundscape, and fairly straightforward song structures throughout, it seems like the sheer number of textures and sound sources alone makes Centipede Hz much harder to digest without repeat listens (see: Rosie Oh).
Think it's already been recorded and possibly mixed for a long time now, if you mean they needed to improve it...

There is nothing wrong with thinking. Music stimulates thought, it's just natural. What you mean is analyzing music too much, but I'm not analyzing the music and dissecting it, I'm analyzing the direction of the band. A band I have followed for years. I know what I like and if I chose to comment on or discuss music that I don't enjoy it doesn't mean that I am "thinking too much" and not allowing the music to affect me. I am not going to close my mind to AC, they are still great to me.

I might give it a chance one day but I have lost interest and you're right that is exactly what it sounds like. I don't care about new ideas I just want a return to form. More acoustic sections and harmonies would be nice like their old stuff. I wanna hear songs like Banshee Beat again.
