Best thing they’ve released since MPP, save for Meeting of the Waters. For the first time in a long time I am actually excited for the upcoming AnCo album.
This is honestly the most straightforward his drumming has been. In this he sounds like an actual drummer. He said his biggest inspiration for drumming was Stewart Copeland. In AC's older music it's really hard to hear that influence and his drumming is more of a very tribal and rhythmic percussion. But now I can definitely hear an influence. I'm a drummer myself, probably still more of a beginner because I've only been drumming for really a year, but I really do think Panda Bear's drumming is impressive. He has the ability to show off but he usually chooses what's right for the song. His drumming is very humble in that way. I'd probably say Panda Bear is my biggest inspiration as a drummer and all around artist right now.
His drumming on Spirit They're Gone is just straight up wacky. It's like some actual Venetian Snares/Aphex Twin IDM stuff. I think that's the album that features his drumming most prominently, but I'm surprised he isn't recognized for it more. I was totally blown away when I finally listened to that album.
My grandfather died after a long fight with heart disease on the day this song came out. This was the perfect track to give me a language to mourn and celebrate my grandfather.
The lyrics, to me, sound like they are describing the end of an era, and imploring us to shift our focus to what really matters in our lives. With what is ahead, it is the only thing that can save us.
I think that's great and seems accurate. I also gathered a feeling of staying in touch with our 'spirit' inside, not getting lost and out of touch with ourselves or growing cold, and not being entirely distracted by all the overabundance of things and digital world forming around us. :)
Please have deakin sing more I've been waiting for him to express himself vocally ever since his solo project! I don't care if this album take 5 years this is gonna be great

Absolutely. It’s like they’ve taken all of their influences and distilled them into just being a live fucking band again. Don’t get me wrong, I love there more electronic compositions, but the live feel of people playing psychedelic music in a room is what initially drew me to them in the first place. If you haven’t you should go check out a video entitled “blast skiffs,“ basically the new album compiled from broadcasts of recorded rehearsal performances from this summer before the fall tour and maybe some from the summer of 2019 when they were rehearsing for tour than as well. So glad the songs finally got recorded, and they have enough material for a second album which they will be recording live in person soon as they felt certain songs didn’t work recording remotely. UGH, sorry. I’m so stoked for all of this new music that I can’t shut up.

This is so beautiful. This is the first time I've seen them all four of them making music together with their faces visible, they're such precious human beings. It's especially impactful as I think this is their first release since the pandemic hit. Animal Collective addresses themes of genuine emotional expression, pure joyful love, the act of awareness, the raw carnal experience of being an animal, the confusion that comes with being born, the absurdity of existing, the desperate helplessness of loss, and just the overwhelming simple ecstasy of being alive in a way that I've never heard from any other musical experience. "Boys Latin" is a marvel of choir voices to behold IMHO! "Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper" sounds hauntingly enough in its own right, but it is really a religious epiphany from Noah's boyhood that really makes the difference here. A little-known side note about Panda Bear is that Lennox has also stated in interviews that he enjoyed drawing a lot as a teenager, especially pandas, and later started drawing pandas on his early mixtapes. He also studied piano until he was eight, then cello, and later on he sang tenor in his high school chamber choir. Though he and his family have never been very religious, Lennox briefly attended Boston University, where he majored in religion because of his interest in "the concept of God". This music brings about a spiritual feel to me of course, and I think you'll have a heavenly epiphany as well with this LP. Hope that you do! Panda Bear is an American musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and co-founding member of the band Animal Collective. In addition to his work with that group, Lennox has released six solo LPs since 1999, with his influential 2007 album "Person Pitch" inspiring numerous soundalike acts. His subsequent albums "Tomboy (2011)", and "Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper (2015)". If you're as familiar with Panda Bears as most of his fans truly are, you'll know his legendary sound, approximating that of the Beach Boys (but not quite). You see Panda Bear has a far more psychedelic electronic approach with harmonies that are wired more than submerged in reverb. This completely changes the dynamics of his music, when compared to anything from the 60s as well. You've really got to hear this for yourself my friends. Pax and love all around, Murf
Like they're harmonizing with each other, I'll harmonize with this comment section. Thank you guys so freaking much! I love this song. the synergy between these 4 guys is telepathic in this song, this is beautiful,, as much as i loved their last 3 albums, this sounds like a return to form, it sounds so organic, not nearly as cold and sterile as painting with or centipede hz.. this feels more warm, psychedelic and organic like a nice hug. cant wait for the new album

First few seconds, oh yeah this is definitely AC. I loved this song so much and can't believe how you guys sound the best you've ever sounded. Aging very well.
Really refreshing simplicity. It sounds new and different (as expected from AnCo) but you could hear little sprinkles of their experimental roots with the little arpeggios and samples.
I heckin' love this video. It's like watching them at a live show, but with even better ambiance. It's just so nice to see them all together jamming out like this.
I’ve been saying this too. Legit excited to see so many other fans echo this sentiment too. I love a lot of the C Hz jams but they really put the sound play on the backseat on the last couple records so it’s so cool to see it return and to see them finally make the psych rock album they were always meant to make

Ive never cried this much to an AC song. Dam guys, we love you
Like they're harmonizing with each other, I'll harmonize with this comment section. Thank you guys so freaking much! I love this song. Whether the other songs are similar or totally different I just know it's gonna rock! Thanks guys! I quit a job yesterday and need to job hunt now, and this will be my soundtrack. Much love! Saw you in Bermingham Alabama many years ago, love from Alabama!
that's my hometown ♥ from Denver
Good luck on the job hunt! I hope you find something that fulfills your soul. :)
Wild, I also quit a job yesterday. Good luck on the job hunt my friend!
@@Weirder_the_better Thank you very much. This is the kind of nice atmosphere a song like this engenders!
@@bradnaylor35 Good luck to you too. We're just hitting a bump in the road. Lots of jobs out there. We'll all be doing better come 2022.
thank you guys
Neat Hurdy-gurdy in the segue between tracks.
Good lord, everything about this is sublime.
the synergy between these 4 guys is telepathic in this song, this is beautiful,, as much as i loved their last 3 albums, this sounds like a return to form, it sounds so organic, not nearly as cold and sterile as painting with or centipede hz.. this feels more warm, psychedelic and organic like a nice hug. cant wait for the new album
MY GOD this is amazing, already hooked. cannot wait for February!!!
Mind blowing, what a beautiful return to roots with that new bloom. Missed you guys
This is so good! I can’t wait for the album!
@animalcollective This is such a great song. Coincidentally, I was hanging out with Prester John last week, actually. It had been too long. We had a few beers, a few laughs. He loves Animal Collective.
I see the 4 of them are together again, pretty good track too. I think this video is a perfect visual for what the song sounds like.
Man. Full body goosebumps. I am so PUMPED by this! I still remember the feeling of being blown away by "For Reverend Green" so many years ago. I have loved seeing your evolution over the years. Hoping to be there in Philly to see you next March!
When I first heard AC, Feels was the newest album. What a joy it is to hear this track in 2021 after so many beautiful cycles of aesthetic evolution. Cheers for the inevitable tour!
Love hearing Deakin add his lower register to these harmonies this is so beautiful and I love these boys. LEAK THE NEW ALBUM DEAK
Instant classic -- you can tell Deak had some influence on this track -- welcome back bois
I’m seeing them tonight!!! The Paradise Rock Club in Boston. I’m so excited!!! ☀️☀️☀️
First few seconds, oh yeah this is definitely AC. I loved this song so much and can't believe how you guys sound the best you've ever sounded. Aging very well.
My favorite from the Album. Reminds me of the older stuff and not the solo or experimental work they had going on for awhile
This is so personally meaningful. I am grateful for your work. It touches me so deeply.
I'm excited for the album.
The "down" chorus at 4:20 by Avey melted my heart
One of my favorite quirks of this lovely jam
Really refreshing simplicity. It sounds new and different (as expected from AnCo) but you could hear little sprinkles of their experimental roots with the little arpeggios and samples.
I drink tea to this song
Based?
Cringe
@@patrickspatrick-jb2my ?
i love you animal collective
Not what I expected, but what can you really expect from AC? I'm looking forward to the new album 😍
may i ask what you expected? Just curious :D
This neither terrifies nor induces epileptic seizures. Listening repeatedly, currently.
en mexico tambien los amamos
Ojalá vinieran 😭
@@jesusitox12 ya han venido un chingo de veces :V
@@el910l que vuelvan pues... No han venido desde el 2016 si mal no recuerdo
AnCo literally flexing on us with this heavenly tune.
Holy shit this the best song ever made this about the crusades and the return of Christ
Wow this comment. I noticed a cross above the band in the visuals... So seeing your comment i decided to look up who prester john is. Thank you.
I heckin' love this video. It's like watching them at a live show, but with even better ambiance. It's just so nice to see them all together jamming out like this.
Their greatest song since Fall Be Kind came out. Unreal
I’ve been saying this too. Legit excited to see so many other fans echo this sentiment too. I love a lot of the C Hz jams but they really put the sound play on the backseat on the last couple records so it’s so cool to see it return and to see them finally make the psych rock album they were always meant to make
