    That’s a great tip! I on the other hand have a 30” inseam & needed my 2005 KTM 525 EXC much lower than 1 to 2 inches. My dealer at the time was Brian Storey whose shop was in Denton & he & his mechanics are Racetech trained suspension specialist. He suggested having my suspension redesigned for my weight, height, & style of riding. He not only changed the spring rates, he added suspension lowering shims on both ends which lowered both ends by 3 full inches as well as revalved It all for only $400, which is a little more than a link/links, but when your really short like me it made a bike with a 37 inch seat height down to a 34 inch seat height, plus I put a Corbin lowering seat on & it lowered it another inch. So I now have a bike that has a 33 inch seat height plus still has more than 10 inches of travel at both ends & a ground clearance of 12 inches. Plus the ride was designed for me & my riding style. I can not emphasize enough what a suspension designed for you is like compared to a bike designed by some engineers who have some other rider than you in mind when they set it up at the factory. Don’t get me wrong, if you happen to be close to the engineers ideal rider, but just need an inch or two to make the bike right for you, then a link/links very well could be right for you. In my case it would not be a unicorn if I didn’t get it adjusted perfectly for me. Once again, I love your channel & am glad your letting other short riders know about their options. So many people think the bike is what they have to live with, when a few dollars of investment it can be customized to them & their needs.
    Oh, Brian Storey moved his store from Denton (because a tornado distroyed his shops few years back) to McKinney, Texas. It’s now called Adventure Moto KTM & his mechanics are still Recetech certified. Love your videos, please keep them coming!!!!

      Wow, I sold my KLR250 because I couldn't get the bike low enough with a link lowering kit. I also have a 30" inseam and I'm 68 years old, but I still love riding. I now have a TW200 and a VTX1300S, but that TW has no power.

    One thing to bear in mind with links is the need to move your forks up in the triple a bit to keep the geometry of the bike in good shape. On bikes like my WR250R with a short wheelbase it can get a little twitchy. As always good video

    Hey , my local dealer says Kouba links make the 690 uneven because it mainly lowers rear of bike . He suggested KTMs lowering kit , which only lowers bike 1.6 inches , says it makes bike handle like stock .. .. parts & labor is over 600 dollars ! What is your thoughts on this ??

      I'm with you on the one, my dealer said the same thing. Looking forward to see what he will reply to you. Cheers

      You could raise the forks in the triple clamp to even it out. This isn’t the best way to lower it, but it’s cheap. If you want it the best it can be do springs (front) and the lowering link like touratech does👍

    2021 Yamaha Tenere 700 lowering links??

    • @JS-ny8sn
      @JS-ny8sn 3 роки тому +1

      I just helped my buddy put a lowering kit on his 2021 Tenere 700 last week.
      We did a full touratech lowering kit which includes the rear dog bones (longer than stock) and different (progressive) springs for the front forks. This was involved because of the spring change in the front. You could just do the dog bones and raise the forks in the triple clamps (which lowers the front end). If you don’t want to spend the big bucks and get that involved. I hope this helps.
