during the emergency stop I was one hundred percent sure someone was going announce a murder
Lol! Yes! It's funny, but all of these restored and throw-back classic trains owe a great deal of there success to that story.
Yeh, the ruddy dodgey driver.
Lolol.
🤣🤣🤣
@@TaylorStJohn-fp9zs Who would have thought that Agatha Christie would secure hundreds of jobs for so many years to come? D:
Been retired for two years. Finally got everything organized and self sustaining and this virus!!! This is still on my bucket list
@David Johnson It is actually both. At 66 years old probably not the smartest thing I can do. I also want to explore abandoned mines. Good you tubes on that subject.
@David Johnson ignore previous comment thought you were talking about another video comment I made re navigating heavy seas you’re right about bucket vs wish
I just love listening to Italian, even over the loudspeaker; it is so soothing and melodious !!!
From Los Angeles, California during a very hard time we all are facing because of the Coronavirus, I thank you for this video and for sharing a great train ride my wife and I always dream of making.
Maybe when this virus is gone we will.
Thanks again.
God bless all humans everywhere.
Ezzel Dean i am glad you could experience a part of this amazing ride. I hope you will find time to experience it in real
I hate to ask the question...but how are you in 2021? Best wishes from England.
This train STILL override all other luxurious trains available for public.
Everything on this train has a most beautiful vibes from the Royals and Aristocrats who were first and foremost designed for at that time. SO BEAUTIFUL, SO ELEGANT, SO NURSERING, SO RELAXING and MOST
IT STILL KEEP THE ORIGINAL TIME OF WHEN IT WAS MADE .
Rumour has it that waiter is still pouring that champagne to this day...
There is always champagne onboard :)
LOL
Voodoo Melon i
Voodoo Melon lol “my father and his father before him poured wine” ahaha some say, he goes to sleep with his lucky corkscrew in hand every night.
my thoughts exactly, LOL
I loved every single moment of it . The sophistication of the Europeans ,the cleanliness & even the rocky British train with the familiar here love serving by the staff. It was a holiday for me. Big,big Thanks to you,
thank god for no background music. really enjoyed the video.
Wow!!! The waterway in Venice is breathtaking. The way they drive the boats, like we drive cars, amazing and some very cool boats. I must go there before I die.
It's been a dream of mine since I was a kid to ride that train. Probably never happen, but here's to hoping!
only you can make it happend so go for it
Get a passport and start investing! Make it happen!
@Dawn a calm kitty but god does not exist
@@perkelepower Depends for which God you're referring to!
The problem is the make luxurious trains to get more money. They don't think in poor people, I can save 1000 dollars max.
Spectacular wood-paneled interiors. Period furnishings and fabrics. Attentive staff and great looking food. Everything about this train is magnificent. It shows how luxury travel was experienced in the Gilded Age.
How has this guy only got 2.5k subs, this guy deserved the silver play button by now
buggerlugs TV thanks
I did this journey as a student on a standard train: eating baguette and cheese out of my backpack, and drinking red wine from a plastic bottle. I loved every moment of it. Chilling with other young people that was the life.
That's true, when i was young i travel through Europe with the Interrail Pass and must be 26 or younger, you have 6 Weeks Time to go through Western Europa, included West-Berlin. Through Europe from Norway through Danmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal. My dream was until March 2022 go with the longest Railway Connection in Europe with the East-West Express from Paris - Cologne - Berlin - Warzaw - Kiew - Moscow. This Train dosnt exit since March 2022. This Train Connection exist over 60 Years, until 1990 through the Communist Part of Europa. Please excuse my English.

Ever since I saw Murder on the Orient Express many, many years ago, I have always wanted to take the Venice Simplon Orient Express train ride. Such elegance. Once can always hope and dream. I was very surprised by the communal toilet.
Exquisite luxury of furnishings, food, and time. What a lovely trip we took with you! Thank you for doing an excellent video tour.
Some prices - Lowest cost is around USD$300 - $3500 on average for twin / single cabin. Cabin Suites are double. Grand Luxury Suite is 4 times more. The food is included along with coffee, tea, but drinks are extra. Which is good as we don't need drunk passengers. There are no showers on train. There is a well appointed bathroom - one per car, and your own personal sink in each cabin. There are routes from London or Paris or Berlin. Going to Prague, Verona, Venice. Istanbul costs $21,000!
Feedback: Show us more of toilets, sink, how beds work, bed linen service, inside each lounge, and a bit less of train stations.
AAH...The civilized elegance of train travel. Thanks for posting; a beautiful video.
Yes I took a train trip like this decades ago, very luxurious, it's great to see they still do it.
I never get tired of watching trips on the Orient Express. Thank you.
I've always thought that rail travel was one of the most romantic, I've met some very interesting people and have that one that "got away" stories from Atlanta to New York. One day, I want to ride the Orient Expess.
Good luck, it is extremly expensive, like 5.000 $/night at person
Because it will help u to sleep, I watched it first thing this morning with coffee and wanted to go back to sleep zzzzzzzzzzźzzz
Yes I agree .Overnight trains with a decent relaxing bar is essential to meet others. I had a tremendous time travelling through Spain on one and the highlight was the people I met .
No way. As you entered your cabin, I was overcome and fainted. Just WOW!
Had the pleasure of riding the Venice-London Orient Express at a charity do. It was surprisingly down to earth, and VERY funny!
So many many memories of my arrival and departure in 1991 from the station in Venice. It was all so new and exciting to me. It brings a rush of emotion. I was traveling with Eloise my Mom....a seasoned world traveler for the ages.
What a wonderful polished wooden is used on the compartments walls ! Most be of noble heritage .
I love that lounge car with the bar. Wood everywhere you go. Amazing.
This recording, made my dream a voyage i will never be able to do in this lifetime. thank you.
I had the good fortune to ride the Simplon Express from Geneva to Venice in 1984. It was a wonderful trip. Also, the next day was a holiday so we had Venice all to ourselves. Priceless! TY for recording and posting!
Very fun to watch. Thank you for sharing. I too loved just hearing the natural sounds.
Your companion appears to be having a delightfully good time.
I remember seeing this train in Venice and Verona a couple of times coming and going during my time in Italy for Operation Desert Storm stationed in Vicenza. Well done folks.
Very nice footage. No voice-overs or painful mood music - great work.
hear hear!
Can't overstate this enough!
💯 agreed
Brian Carson I for one like voice overs, I know to know what is going on, how the food tastes, what the travel vlogger thinks... a bit of history about things. If there is no talking, how in the heck do you LEARN what the trip is about? GOOD music can also add, but I agree, nothing loud or obnoxious like trancing disco or the like.... something light and classical adds so much to travel vlogs.
The only thing missing was Richard Widmark lying in bed like a pin cushion. I really appreciate you making and posting this video. I love that lounge car.
It's amazing how quiet these trains are. You'd think there would be all sorts of things rumbling around. They do a great job!
I noticed that the carriages have been fitted with the more modern European-style bogie. Probably makes for a smoother ride quality.
You forgot to say thank you to everyone opening\holding doors and giving info etc, being grateful and respectful doesn't cost anything :)
But a bit weird if you make a video and you have to say thank you every time. You don’t hear that in a movie. And the staff knew i was filming this trip
@@Persfoto what is weird to say thank you to someone who is opening/holding a door for you? when you're being served by someone you don't thank them because it's weird due to the fact that you're making a video? you're weird not being polite, watch other vloggers going abroad and learn, I work in hospitality for 12 years whenever anyone goes out of their way for me I appreciate that and let them know that I do, as I said being good, nice and/or humble doesn't cost anything (:
THE KING OF TRAINS AND THE TRAIN OF KINGS. SO INCREDIBLE TRUE.
hope the lady recovered from her tuberculosis and did not infected everybody on board , bon voyage !!!
@neoperseus obviously it was the corona virus and now the whole world is infected! who would have known the outcome back then :O!
Thank you so much for sharing this lovely video . I've been very unwell for a year and unable to go out but this video lifted my spirits xxx
Feel better. 😊
I’m so happy that something like this exists
This is travelling with so much style, its unbelievable..
so elegant....the old country is.the way they pay attention to you...lovely
Very beautiful Venice, just like always. Thank you for the video provided, as they say: "You look at the picture and you live with thoughts in it"
Enjoy this very much. What a dream.
Ohhh....what a wonderful experience! The food looked incredible. Thank you for sharing.
that last train they just threw the food at you😆😆 here sir have another
Definitely going to do this. Just as soon as I win the lottery lol.
I may once do it. Even if it means that I have to spare some money. Recent prices are about 5000 euros and higher (depending on what you exactly want).
I saved travel money in 2020,and going. Soon as life goes back to normal I will afford to travel like QueenElizabeth
Fabulous video. I felt like I was your invisible room mate during your entire trip. Absolutely amazing.
The both of you fit in effortlessly with grace and enthusiasm. Well done.
Darryl
Great video..as a lover of all things from the Art Deco period in history, architecture, ceramics, object d'art, clothes, etc I would love to take a train journey on the Simplon Orient Express but it would have to be with myself dressed in a smart pin striped 3 piece suite with a flashy silk tie & matching handkerchief and trilby.
Amazing video. It's my life ambition to travel on this train. Thanks for sharing!
Same man!
Me too. I want to bring my parents. Gotta start saving some big money.
Paul's Trip Reports mine too
Paul's Trip Reports is it more expense than Emirates first class
This is on my bucket list
Such an elegant and sophisticated train and the food looked delicious, what beautiful memories for all those who experienced a glimpse back in time to the golden age of travel. One observation, it’s a a shame the dress code was not a little more befitting for such an iconic train as the staff appeared better turned out than what one could see of some of the guests. Of course each to their own but a little extra effort never goes a miss in this life. For all those who aspire to travel on the Orient Express I hope your dreams come true, and that each moment on board makes for happy memories.
Money,Money,,Money.
I wouldn't be able to help but go jacket and tie the whole time I was aboard
Nothing glam about this train, overpriced just for someone to smile at you.
I've just watch the video of the oriont express brought back memories from when me and Raymond went on it it was a short version but was one of the best days of my life
One thing nice about fine dining is the way they serve food and their customer service. I love it. Food is only so...so.
Amazing . luxurious , princely living rooms and restaurants for ordinary people . They looks like ordinary people . And butlers looks like princes . I must learn french and italian . If only you knew how I live .
watching as i eat canned tuna :/
I hear you brother, canned tuna here too but I had no sliced bread and I used a hamburger bun.... delicious....... :)
OMG ! Me , too.
Work harder,
sadly laughing at this
Small world. .ditto.
Wow, this is definitely a bucket list trip and this video has filled me with dread that I'd have to experience such a once in a lifetime journey while being filmed eating/drinking/trying to relax.
A beautiful,elegant and efficient service
Thank you for sharing your OE experience. I enjoyed it immensely!
My Fathers best friend was a French polisher and worked on the Orient Express when it was being refurbished at Carnforth. He gave Dad a wine glass from the Orient Express, I think I still have it somewhere. I think that that's as close as I'll ever get.
Yeah, now this is what I call traveling. What a way to go, huh? You knew it was going to be good the minute you stepped on board and saw the wood paneling. I could practically taste the food on his trip.
I took this journey a few times with my sister as she hates airplanes. As fair as trains go, its a nice experience. However, the minute you exit your private cabins you are met with a bunch of excited american tourist types. Kills the vibe. I swear to god one time there was a retirement party with loud old people dressed like flappers on board. Another time there was a very Maury/Jermey kyle-esque family of 5 on board wearing hoodies etc. Be prepared to encounter those people!
well filmed , no useless music , showing the true ambiance ...
Now that's class. A dream I will never be able to fulfill, but it was fun to watch. Agatha Christie couldn't have given a better tour.
A dream ONLY YOU CAN FUFILL
I'm amazed by your documentary. Its utterly and absolutely incredible and gorgeous. Being a Amtrak cabin Steward myself (here in America) I would love to take an adventure like that
Derrick Lendele 20 years ago took train (with cabin) from DC to MPLs. Great food and service.(with my newborn child). Great experience.
Derrick, you should find a way to make that happen! It would no doubt be an journey you'd never forget. We Americans need to experience this type of luxury
One of the best Orient Express review ever, thanks for your experience.
What a wonderful video! Felt like I was right there :-)
fuck
Tiffany Titheridge Truly very amazing !
Would be crazy if Hercule Poirot/David Suchet showed up sitting in the dining car. LOL
There is a video of him riding the Orient Express, if you haven't already watched it
An experience of a lifetime!
My wife and I had an experience of a lifetime in mid-May of 1999 spending two weeks in Paris and the Loire River Valley with our two children, 14 month old and a ~4yr old.
My wife has since passed, this trip was up for consideration for our 25th anniversary so this video was a "what could have been" second trip of a lifetime experience!
We're Agatha Christy fans, especially the tv1 Hercule Poirot (David Suchet) episodes, so this would have been the perfect literary/tv series/gourmet/rail train/scenic/European travel.
Maybe I'll win a lottery and take my sister (we're 70 and 71 somehow).
Anyway, wonderful video trip! Thanks
Chris K your welcome i am glad you are be able to see the full experience.
absolutely beautiful. you can see why this is on my bucket list
Wow, replied while I'm still watching here in Queensland Australia, we plan this trip, we lived in folkestone England, and when orient was reintroduced, briefly worked on it as steward, circa 1982 ish? Doing the Brisbane to cairn train tomorrow, 24 hours only but stunning.
The service from French waiters compared to the English waiters were a universe apart. How the French smiled and made eye contact, whereas the English Pullman waiters just about dropped the plate onto the table whilst moving along just spoke volumes to me. For the english it's a job that requires to be done, for the French & Italians, a vocation, pride in providing excellent service. This is one thing that really stood out for me in comparison of the services received. Pullman take note!!
That's sad. I travel in Scotland and the staff are fabulous.
Imagine an American Waitress working solely off of tips. She'd make the French look crass as the Englishmen does to the French.
@@Setwhattt I've moved on a bit in 2 years yeah ;) thx.
Simple, elegant, simply elegant
Un bellissimo viaggio virtuale. Ottimo filmato. Grazie e cordiali saluti.
i always thinking hercule poirot is around the next corner :-P
I was thinking, there’s the car where everyone came together to find out who was the killer. EVERYONE. lol
exactly!
Bravo! What a magnificent experience. Beautifully done, thank you for sharing and posting.
Thank you for making that exclusive experience available to everyone. Document all your trips, you do it well!
thanks there are a few online, will try to post more in the future
I adore that music, 20:22 its Chopin's Nocture in E flat major opus 9. No.2 it's fantastic...and my son can play it. The lobster looked scrummy, with duchess's potatoes....perfect.
Thank you for the experience Persfoto . Squisito !
what an absolute treat, I love travelling by trains and have been all over the US and Canada with Amtrak on some spectacular journeys but the Orient Express like most will unfortunately probably remain a pipe dream so this is probably as close as I will get :)
Amazing experience!!!
The piano bar was a dreaming.
WOW, A 5 STAR experience on a train...amazing, how luxurious and beautiful it is!!....
"Thank you" enjoyed. Your trip very much.
Wonderful to watch during Covid-19.
A classic deco era. My favorite period.a trip in time.
Great footage! Also loved seeing inside the Pullman, as I’ve only ever seen the outside of this train going past my house in Folkestone.
Almost 18 minutes in and I'm like where's the bar and what does it look like!!
And yes I'm Irish ... 😂
There you go Irishman Cheers 🥃
Drinking problem?
cheers,mate^^
this trip is definitely fascinating, i also like your writing in the description as well.
This train ride has HORROR MOVIE FILMING LOCATION. Perfect!!
You are seriously having me rethink the cruise we had planned for 2019...great footage-thanks for the share.
well atleast this bucketlist trip is still out there. concorde is sadly one of the dreams even a lotto winner cant experience.
I traveled on the concorde. It was very narrow and the flight only took 3 hours from NY to Europe. We were there before I even knew it.
coming back 2022, just wait it out aha
Lol I agree hope they bring her back someday
They grounded IT. I hear somebody was making something similar?
I traveled with the orient express 2 times and i am NOT a lotto winner or millionaire. So please don't spread misinformation. It's not that expensive.
Brilliant video. Thank you for sharing the whole experience. I really enjoyed that.
Great video. Perhaps one day my wife and I will travel on it. You seemed to be about the youngest passengers! Beautifully maintained carriages and all that polished wood. One of the dining cars had wheelflats - that jjjjudder that resonates from underneath.
LOVED it....what an experience....(but if I was running things, none of the stewards or waiters would be in shirt sleeves and all would have gloves)
really enjoyed that presentation..thanks so much!
I wish there were these kinds of trains in America.
It would be a real privelage to work on that amazing and very beautiful train. Fancy being asked by someone, where do you work, and the answer being, {THE ORIENT EXPRESS}
Great video guys! There's nothing like the Orient Express!
I’m convinced folks just come on here to whinge and moan. Stuffed full of negativity. This looks amazing, I am so envious. Thank you for the video.
Same here !@ great dream of mine . I would cry if I were about to board this train !! God bless from the United states. I love all history, all of it.
beautiful train, like time has stood still.
Thank you both for sharing your experience with all of us. What a wonderful way to travel .... safe travels and all my blessings
VIELEN LIEBEN DANK...FRIEDEN und FREIHEIT...
oh my goodness that looks absolutely awesome.
I would love to experience this one day if afforded. The craftsmanship is incredible and the service appears friendly and generous.I'm not keen on the food presentation or form,as I generally enjoy identifying my own food without a guide. I'm sure it was likely delicious and an overall pleasant holiday.Great video overall and I appreciate the lack of commentary and overlaid music.
I agree but what I think is strange is I the fact that there are no bath or showers facilities provided. Who wants to be all stinky while they're traveling in luxury like that.
@@reya346 It does seem odd. Well just bring a package of baby wipes, I guess and prepare to take a bird bath!
Done it 18 years ago, an amazing experience and one that stays with you.
This is awesome! I love traveling by train. Unfortunately my wife doesn't. It is my dream to travel across Canada to take in the sites while sitting back without a care in the world.
Claude Belanger Yes, Canada. You must take the famous "Canadian Rocky Mountaineer" Opulent Train from Vancouver, BC to Banff, Alberta. The scenery is outstanding and the service bar none. Take the Gold Leaf option or Silver leaf coach option for the finest in Canadian hospitality. Then stay at the famous Banff Springs Hotel ! Happy Trails ! Cheers !
Do it.
No one is worth the sacrifice.
Trust me.
Yes, I have done that, BUT but once you are over Rockies, it is very BORING, bring A LOT TO READ !!
