I love hearing Zee talk about card games. It's obvious that they are very important to him and he understands the role they have traditionally played in people's lives (maybe his family's?) for generations.
Also, as others have said - loving these Zee/Mike reviews. This is the dynamic duo right here. Even when I disagree with them I always understand clearly *why.*

It’s a great game. I am a lifetime gamer with hundreds of games through my hands and a permanent collection of 250+ games. I love playing very heavy games, from 18xx and John Company etc but all the way through medium to light. This is one of my favourite light games of the moment. As you say, its cadence is really delightful.

This game is phenomenal. We managed to buy a copy from France as it is currently difficult to get in the UK and have played 100s of games. For me, the player controlled end of round trigger really makes this game and is what 'softens' the luck factor. Like the doubling cube in backgammon. Lots of drama, pure Cathala.
I'm so glad Mike and Zee reviewed this together, I was certain they would love it if they played it.

@@BombyxEditionMy apologies, I simply meant that building in a final mechanism to add extra layers of decision making and tension to a game is a very Bruno Cathala thing to do. Obviously I have no idea whether he was responsible for that decision in this co-design! Either way I applaud it and it was not my intention to detract from Théo Riviére's involvement. This is one of my games of the year 2022 for sure.
I'm also a fan of Naga Raja and Draftosaurus and am excited to see what Théo does next.

I really hope this review means Sea Salt & Paper will be distributed for sale in US/North America. I've been playing this on BGA and would love a physical copy to travel with.

This game looks beautiful, and I'm looking forward to checking it out. The graphic design (especially the little symbols to make the cards color blindness independent) is so elegant and the game overall looks like a very nice game to have in the "light palette cleanser" part of my collection. I'm also really impressed by the Zee/Mike reviewing duo this past year or so. They have a great dynamic, and do a fantastic job breaking these games down as well as explaining who they think might like them, and that makes their reviews a great resource!

Great to hear Mike mention the teaching side of a game. I work in a psychiatrie where there are a lot of patients who are able to perform on a reasonable level, others have less talent but are able to play for instance common cardgames, Catan, Carcassonne, and so on. Every thursday me (as a BGG) and my co-worker organize game night where I like to introduce new games from my homeshelfs. I really have to be aware that I can explain things in a simple and cohesive way, knowing that some of the patiënts attention and listening abbility's are not always the standard.
But they can surprise you and are more talented then initially assumed.
Games I play on regular basis at my job:
    -Stone Age
    -Quaks of....
    -Jamaica
    -Skull King
    -El Grande
    -Raiders of the North Sea
    -Dice Town
-Machiavelli (very popular, as in 'stick a knife in my friends back' 🙂)
    -King of Tokyo
    -The Crew
    -Point Salad
    -Cascadia
    -Wingspan
I will surely try Sea, Salt and Paper. I think they will really like it. And the rules are easy to explain to anyone, but that's a talent that Bruno Cathala owns. He makes games mostly for everybody, liked by mostly everybody , and explainable for and to mostly anybody.

I can’t stop playing this game on BGA! It’s amazing and definitely the best at 2p - maybe 3p - but not 4p. Yes there’s luck but deciding when to stop to get points, knowing your opponent could beat a last chance, is great! Especially denying them one last turn to crush it.
Also knowing when you’re screwed so you bank on a bunch of the same colors for the bonus, waiting for their last chance bet. Then again, if they stop instead, that bonus is trashed! So good!!

really cute and smart little card game, I like the look, I can play a few times... However it's one of the few card games where, as a left-handed player, it's really bothering me that it's just 1 corner that shows the iconography and I cannot see what I have when I hold my cards in hand as usual.
