  • In belated honor of Cave Story 3D's release I decided to make another remix. This kind of encompasses my all time favorite Cave Story songs now, and I find Moonsong an incredibly glorious track.
    I hope you guys will enjoy this as much as I had making it. I know you guys are adamant on Download Links, so here is one.
    www.mediafire.c...
    The cover art for the song was drawn by my dear friend Toast.
    thetoastery.dev...
    The UA-cam art was concept art for Cave Story 3D.
    UPDATE: Since people asked for it, here's a download for one of my older remixes of Running Hell.

    I listened to this while standing at the edge of a hill at night overlooking the city. the wind was cold but the sky was clear except for a few clouds that were illuminated by moonlight. It was great.

    Still amazed at how one man (Pixel) can make a game, all it's music tracks, level design, artwork, programming, and amazing storyline all on his own.

      not to mention also a fully fledged music program. that inspired some people to almost always use that for their music

    Imagine facing the Outer Wall in real life. Dang... that'd be one heck of a climb, with Quote fretting over the safety of Sue, Kazuma, the Mimigas, and Curly especially. You stand facing a wall the size of an island, with nothing and no one to help besides your own wits and perseverance, all the while feeling the cold air blow against you, reminding you of just who you are right now...

    You people are missing the point. What made Cave Story good was that it told its story through the mechanics of the game. This is not something you can do with a movie or series.

    • @kristaIcIear
      @kristaIcIear 9 років тому +28

      Syberi388 Wrong. The thing that made Cave Story good was the fact that you played through it yourself. Not mechanics, but simply good gameplay. That made you invested. You were drawn in by cutesy graphics and artsyle, but then you saw people die. What i'm trying to say is that you went through what Quote went through, and that made it all the more heartbreaking when a character you cared about died. COME BAAACK TOROKOOOOOOO!!! T.T

    • @loach-
      @loach- 9 років тому +18

      +gamenerdyfan Toroko's death honestly wasn't that impactful. Her character was BARELY developed. The same goes for King.

      God i miss cave story... its hard to imagine its been over ten years. wow, the story was one of the best i have ever seen in video games. The kind of story where i want to beg for a sequel but if i do i know it can never be as good as the original and honestly wouldnt be fair to either games. I'd love to play another game like that, the only one I have played thats remotely similar in how amazing the story is ironically undertale. I need to find another game like that beautiful story amazing characters and awesome gameplay. Regardless sorry about the long reply the music made me sentimental XD

    If it were an anime or something, I see it as this-
    Quote climbs the outer wall in sad silence, the only sounds are his and the roaring winds.
    His gears clank after every fall, lift and leap.
    The wall's footing suddenly becomes steady and the beams of metal clear out, his first time getting a clear view of the moon and sky. He stares into the moon's pale abyss, and his recent memories kick in.
    He sees the faces of Toroko and King , and thinks of sue...
    And Curly.
    Quote holds back the tears he know will never shed, believing that when he lost them, and all the other's who suffered at the doctor's hand, he lost what was left of himself. But he climbs on, knowing that the one way to find himself again...
    Is to stop the maniacle doctor.

    • @AntiBunnyStudio
      @AntiBunnyStudio 8 років тому +4

      +Ryan Nixon This is exactly the feeling I got the first (and every time) I got to the outer wall. Moonsong combines with the rushing wind, and night sky visuals to create this sense of quiet desperation. The mimiga village is empty, something terrible clearly happened in the egg corridor, and now you've turned your back on your chance to flee to safety. Quote has lost his friends, but forges on with grim determination. That sense of hope against hopelessness really does hit you with Moonsong.

    jeez you guys are getting to involved into this. This was and still is one of my favorite songs in the game and i think that it doesn't matter what made the game good. The game was good and so is the music.

    When I was playing the game, and I did not really take much notice of the background in this area (or any areas for that matter), but when I looked at the recording of this level for my Let's Play, I actually got a good look at that parallax scrolling and thought it looked really cool.Also, Snorlax ghosts.

    The melody "Moonsong" was derived by George Buzinkai for the comic Homestuck into the track "Doctor" (the source of the name is obvious) that plays in an interactive game segment where John Egbert walks around on the surface of his planet Land of Wind and Shade for the first time. Basically any remix of "Doctor", you can apply to "Moonsong" and vice versa. The Homestuck track is actually how I first heard about Cave Story. And this is a nice remix.

    • @cashkromsupernerd1193
      @cashkromsupernerd1193 8 років тому

      +OrigamiPhoenix Interesting...I knew the game took a lot of inspiration from a handful of other sources, some unrelated to gaming (A certain Finnish dance comes to mind), but I didn't realize anything was directly inspired by it. I mean, sure, it paved the way for the indie craze we're in today, but nothing comes to mind for a specific reference.

    I cannot thank you enough for making this mix fam!
    Its a true masterpiece, very much worthy of the track it originates from. With such hights of emotion!
    I actually utilized this mix for the background music to an intense Undertale themed roleplay, and to such amazing effect.
    Your mix has helped to shape and influence the stories that i make so much to the better, and i cant thank you enough for that!
    I hope you have an amazing life, and succeed in anything you set out to do!
    Stay determined my friend, and stay awesome!

    @Aelesis I told myself I wouldn't release downloads of my older remixes until I remastered them since those are incredibly old and I didn't really like their production values.
    And the good news is that I did remaster the Running Hell remix. I'll see if I can do Geothermal some day. I'll update the video description with a link to it.

    @Supertaco117 The ambience in his cavestory songs really set up your own image in your mind of whats happening, imagining yourself in quote's place. Or perhaps a movie.
    Regardless, his songs are amazing, I really wish he'd do move, and add more ambience. Like geothermal, it had this huge 1 minute intro before the song came in. Which I liked actually.
    Anywho. Plumegeist, it'd be amazing if you could make more. Subbed just incase you decide to.
