    Thanks for taking the time to talk through the various points. There is no doubt that the future is full fibre and since current infrastructure is capable of 10gb there is no harm in making that the premium product.
    I think the price is a little too high for most people and more likely to attract the kinds of people who own switches and equipment capable of greater than 1gb networking.
    The smaller altnets offer better pricing so it might just be a virgin thing that they like to over price things, perhaps that is why next fibre will be opening their network to more usage by inviting other isps.
    The ideal for me would be to take a 2gb product from zen using the next fibre network being built in my hometown. However it will take time for the agreements to be made and so I may take a lower speed synchronous virgin product in the meantime.
    I see lots of arguments that people don’t need ultra fast connections, a kind of hankering back to when 9600 baud was all you needed when most people had 2400 baud modems, I see ultrafast as something that will enable new ways of using the internet currently not possible.

      Thanks, Stephen, for your feedback.
      I think the pricing is related to competition-or lack thereof. If you are fortunate to live in an area with other options apart from Virgin/Nexfibre or BT Openreach, you are in luck and can get lower broadband prices and even faster connections.
      However, prices will decrease once these alt-net providers become more established and widespread.

    If two PCs can get 1gbit throughput at the same time on the two of the 1gbit ports, on a 2Gig Fibre service, then I would say that's adequate. Most services won't support more than 1gig speeds, there's only really a handful that do. Speedtest services are artificial and won't really effect daily usage, downloading random stuff on the internet.

    I'd love to have 2Gb but not for that price. From 2016 up until nearly a year ago I had 900Mb from Hyperoptic, but I downgraded to 500Mb for £35/m just to save a tenner a month - not that I need to but there's just not that much of a noticeable difference between actual speeds of "near-guaranteed 550Mb" and an "average of 850Mb." Compared to Virgins 1.1Gb to 2Gb ~ £39 vs £84.
    That 10Gb looks proper nice though, that's just crazy fast a f. I'd be tempted to pay £100/m for that... in a few years time, if it's out by then.

    My friend don't put people into mistake !!! It is NOT symmetrical internet !!! 2Gbps DOWN and 200Mbit UP

    • @studioidris
      @studioidris  9 місяців тому

      That is correct by default. There is, or was, the option of paying extra monthly for a symmetrical service.

      I've seen on your movie option 2000Mbps down and 200Mbps up for £84 per month. I don't want even imagine how much will cost 2Mbps/2Mbps up and down. Cityfibre does great job to challenge them with trully FTTH connections. Yayzi you can get 2300Mbps both sides for £50 per month. Until Virgin/Liberty Global will built their own fibre network they will be wipeout from market@@studioidris

      @@studioidris There is an option of paying £6 per month for symmetrical, but its separate to this 2 gig package.

      I can order it to be 2gig upload as well for an extra fee, but didn’t need it. I get 2050mbps download to my pc easily. The normal upload speed is enough.
