Shibuya is an insane rollercoaster ride that doesn't stop or slow down and somehow still hits you with emotional gut punches and action. Gege is so freaking good at what he does. Very excited for where JJK goes especially with the most recent chapter.
I thought that the Shibuya Incident was all about the moral dilemma of Yuji Itadori’s existence. This arc was an excellent character deconstruction and reconstruction for Yuji’s character. - Yuji was given the choice to die and prevent Sukuna from completely reincarnating, or continue to live and accept the challenge of controlling Sukuna. In order for Yuji Itadori to control a calamity like Sukuna, he needs to become one of the strongest sorcerers in history. - The greatest sorcerers that in the modern era, Satorou Gojo, is seen as very lonely and self aggrandizing. Gojo became strong by realizing that it’s his role in greater Jujutsu Society. The strongest curses accept their role as human killing machines, which is why they become very strong. - Yuji losing to Choso and allowing Sukuna to reawaken, killing thousands of people in the process, is something that goes against Yuji’s goals of becoming a great Jujutsu sorcerer. Yuji’s ideology of indiscriminately saving everyone cannot save everyone, and his existence as Sukuna’s vessel will prevent that from ever happening since curses will follow him wherever he goes. - When Yuji proclaims “I’m You” to Mahito, he finally accepts his fate as a Jujutsu Sorcerer. He is someone who will see people he cares about die left and right, and the only thing that he can do is keep fighting and exorcising curses for as long as he lives. He’ll keep getting stronger and stronger until he is strong enough to kill any curse, to be the ultimate curse for curses. It doesn’t matter if his life is taken in the process, because he will secure a better future for humanity and other jujutsu sorcerers if he is able to be the one to kill Sukuna.
Yuji and Choso are actually brother's. The brain is Yuji's Mom and before that he was in another body and is the father other the cursed womb paintings from 150 years ago, Choso is one of the cursed womb paintings that was stolen from JJ high school then fed to a random guy and was reincarnated as a half curse half human.
I had to compliment this video man it was so good. I watched some of your reaction videos while you were catching up and just knew I had to tune in for your overall analysis of it. I liked that you were always open minded and honest about what you thought pre your reread and after finally catching up. Really appreciate your effort in this video.
My theory: i think sukuna is what kenjiku is searching for and he doesn't even realise it atleast not yet sukuna is the symbol of limitless potential that both human and curses hold
I recently found your channel from a recommendation from JJK meta commentator linkspooky because they agreed with your Yuji video and just fell in love with your analytical approach to the series. i think it was indeed Sukuna who told Jogo he was strong. Sukuna reacts and answers Jogo's question while see the curse's body transforming to ashes, so it would make sense that Jogo was also able to hear Sukuna while in that dream state Thematically, it also makes sense that he indeed told him he was strong since Sukuna is the King of curses, so him complimenting Jogo, a fellow curse, probably made him feel a feeling of satisfaction and joy that he haven't felt before Kinda like how in movies or stories, a God talking to a Mortal often makes them feel enlightened and full of extacy(?

I started reading the manga straight after watching the anime and the shibuya arc was just finished when i got there. Perfect timing! I don't think i would have survived having to wait week after week for a new chapter during that arc...
I think the vision jogo has at the end of the fight where he asks sukuna "what is this?" Is the same ability that yuji somehow used on todo and choso. It only happened because sukuna was in yujis body when he fought jogo so it makes sense it would still happen, and makes more sense as to why sukuna didn't know what was happening, he told jogo "I have no clue, or don't ask me" or something. So I do think he was indeed speaking to him/seeing the same vision. But maybe I'm way off idk.
What? That doesn't make any sense. He was saying what us this, asking him how he could be present in his own flashback with his dead friends. Or at least that's how I interpreted it.
The fact that these curses was scared of a newborn bby is ridiculous. If I was a curse I would have took my chances and tried to kill him as a baby instead of allowing him to grow up
I don’t think it’s exactly “faith” per se that Gege is using but more so that he’s utilizing the positionality of the characters. Just like the real world, we are shaped by the environment around us - culture, economic status, how other treated us etc. which affect our ideology and behavior quite greatly. In the same way, Gege wrote the characters similar to that To me, it’s the reason why the characters in jjk feel so alive and authentic
Yooo what up Fiji, dropping the Shibuya vid on Halloween, brilliant. Anyways, almost halfway through and I have one question so far, you say you don't believe that the Choso and Todo memory moments aren't connected. So, did you stop believing the obvious canon that Choso and Yuji ARE blood connected? xD Or do you simply think that there is actually MORE to the Todo memory, similar to how there is more, a solid family connection, to the Choso memory? About Mahoraga, while you are absolutely correct that Sukuna low-mid diffs Mahoraga, I think it is worth mentioning that the summoned Mahoraga is the MINIMUM power Mahoraga, not even close to it's potential strenght. Of course it still sets Sukuna apart because noone in the past was able to even tame base Mahoraga. But I think this statement made it seem like Mahoraga won't be a tool able to stand against Sukuna, but should Mahoraga be tamed, then you could train it to make it literally indestructible. Since Megumis Shadows always stay consistent in their death and power ups between summonings, I believe Mahoraga will keep any damage immunity permanently for the time it is tamed by someone. It can essentially become immune to every possible damaging effect because exposing it to the weaker dismantle already made it immune to Sukunas stronger Cleave. People who complain about your use of "decontructed/recontructed" are quite literally uneducated idiots. Broken down/built up are synomical to deconstructed/reconstructed. Those people are literally just blinded by the way the words may be commonly used in the media they consume, completely ignoring the factual meaning of those words and how they can be used in different contexts. Ok I'm done, the video is beautifully edited, the music choice is good and your narration gets better and better I feel like. Not that it was ever trash xD Only 3 things I can point out where I think you stumbled over yourself in the script are: 1: Calling the people Kusakabe and Panda faced off against curses, when they were human curse users 2: Saying "I said Kenjaku had Aizen level planning and that is not an UNDERstatement." I think you mean't overstatement here? 3: Saying Kenjaku revived curses from all over history when I think he only said he made pacts with sorcerers, not curses. BUT technically those sorcerers are considered curses if revived in such a manner, so technically you're right xd Anyways, 2 tiny blunders in a 1 hour+ video is still very good quality control in my opinion. Otherwise I don't have much to say because I simply agree on everything aside from the memory shenanigans BUT I have to give you mad props on 2 points. You know me as a massive JJK addict, so whenever anyone can broaden my view on points within it, I am surprised. Especially shibuya, which I read like 7-8 times in a way too short timeframe. Anyways, the two points are: 1: Megumi and Tojis parallels. While they are obvious to me the moment you pointed them out, for some reason I used to dwell on their differences and the Zenin problems more than on their personal similarities. Thanks for pointing that stuff out to me. 2: Mahito ending up transfigured, the same thing he always did to others. I believe I always was more focused on Kenjaku being a goat and especially on the exact mechanics of Uzumaki in that moment. Once again, obvious once pointed out, but that is the beauty of such details. They make 100% sense and are perfectly fitting once the thought crosses ones mind. Amazing video, just accept your fate as a JJK channel now. It's peak, raw, fire, goat and will only breed success after that second season makes every one on earth fall in love.
1. I have not forgotten about the actual blood relation between Yuji and Choso, that’s obviously undeniable but there’s still a ton of questions. Why did Choso realise when he did? Why is it presented and written in the exact same way as Todo? I doubt Todo will have an actual blood relation to Yuji but I do think whatever triggered these memories for Choso and Todo are one in the same. Because otherwise that’s really weird imo. 2. Great points about Mahoraga. I didn’t want to spend too much time talking about the power scaling of this moment since I was trying to focus on raw analysis & what that did for the tone, atmosphere, and following moments but I should’ve mentioned that for sure. Megumi’s potential is ridiculous. 3. Yeah I meant overstatement* 😅, scripting and recording 11k words in a single day is never a good idea lmfao. 4. Thank you! I spent a BUNCH of time editing this, I’ve learnt quite a few tricks that should be helpful and make the videos a lot better so I’m excited to start making shorter 10-15 min videos that I can focus on a lot more attentively than these past 3 massive ones. Those last two points just randomly dawned on me whilst rereading for the making of this video, Shibuya really incredible man 🙏🏽 Always love reading your long comments!
@@R7dman About what triggered Chosos memory, I have 2 takes on that. 1: It's as Choso said. Throuigh his technique he can feel major changes(like death) in his blood connected brethren, so he had that vision as a side effect of his blood connection to Yuji, who he felt was dying through his technique. 2: Choso merely THINKS that his technique gave him that vision, but something else triggered it and Choso would have only noticed their connection via his technique AFTER Yujis death just how he noticed his brothers death when it was already too late. But they just happen to ACTUALLY be related making Choso look less crazy than Todo. But the thing is, I could also fully see that Gege just chose the exact same words to mislead or potentially even just because Gege liked those words to present a strong connection being formed. Like both Todo and Choso suddenly felt such strong attachment to Yuji (Todo through their taste in women and Choso through their blood connection) and Gege just thought that an imagined memory of them spending the past together would represent such attachment well. Personally, I am completely open to all of those possibilities. I just hope it's not memory manipulation. I don't think something so manipulative and complex will fit Yujis character at all. Lastly, happy you like the comments, I enjoy the convos as well.
Radman, I followed due to the great video, but I would like to lodge a formal complaint with management. I have taken it personally that you did not include Berserk's Golden Age arc, likely the most perfect fictional arc in all mediums. Thank you for your consideration
I lost all interest in Jujutsu Kaisen after this arc. I was a mega fan. I watched season one at least six times. I used to badger my friends for not watching. I decided to read the manga because I was impatient. I have regrets. This is not a knock on the series. My two favorite characters get killed. I know that's a stupid reason to drop a series. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You should pick it up again. Things are grim but the after events of Shibuya and what happened recently will (hopefully) get you roped back into the series. Just my suggestion though, but somewhere around chapter 200 something really bad happens, i advise you to keep reading since a few chapters after something will immediately reverse the situation. Happy reading!
I gotta tell you.. you're completely wrong about Boogie Woogie. You underestimate matter swapping. it could easily be upgraded. 1. He already displaces air when he swaps. If he learns to displace ONLY air? Really can't think what 350lbs, or more, appearing or disappearing right in front of you could do? 2. He could learn to activate it by simply making a circle with any body part. That would be a nice upgrade. 3. The ability to swap two OTHER beings.. or part of them. 4. The ability to swap with anything he can see. I could go on for days. A cubic centimeter of sun core would do just about anyone.
Now, I might get some negativity from saying this, but given how rushed jjk has felt since akutami took summer 2021 off and how so much has happened in the past year (meguna, gojo returning, tsukumo getting killed, ext) and how unsatisfying the story feels to read at the moment, I’m starting to think that shibuya is where jjk might have jumped the shark. Just my opinion and that being said, I still love the series
I can see why people feel it’s being rushed, but honestly the way I interpret it is that this is a not, and never will be a series where the protagonists have firm control over anything going on. They are reacting to ever escalating conflicts with more and more powerful characters whether they are ready for it or not. Kenjaku set a plan in motion with the death of the star plasma vessel that’s been building up momentum that peaked in Shibuya. This arc was the last time any of our heroes could have swung the fight against kenjaku in their favor, but only if they had freed Gojo that night. I like to think Shibuya wasn’t the true start of the plan kenjaku has, it was the night they secured a damn near guaranteed victory. No matter what anyone does in the series after this point the world is so irreversibly changed that even stopping Kenny comes with more Ls than Ws: The series is going so fast bc it’s meant to. There is no real tug of war between which side has the advantage. Even when Gojo is freed, his presence is no longer enough to swing the tide. Sukuna has taken control of a body with a technique that will let him eventually kill Gojo and spoilers, that recently happened. Now we got our main cast in Yuji, Yuta, Maki, and Hakari: of the trio we started with, only 1 is still standing. It’s not confirmed but literally this weeks chapter had Sukuna do some shit that has 99% of the fan base convinced Megumi is cooked. Shibuya was the last time the conflict was a war, bc a war can be won by either side. Now it’s a desperate set of attempts to do any and everything to stop plans to the main cast know little about, with all of the highest tier characters minus Yuta/Hakari against them. It can feel rushed sometimes but I like to think of it as rushed the same way a school shooting is rushed, bc it’s a tragedy with no ending that makes the losses acceptable
I mean it was ok but gege is just a trash author let’s be honest. He has the brain of a toddler in his terrible 2’s. “Oh I like Mahito! I’m going to make him an immortal God for several seasons and have him kill off A GANG of the main cast while incapacitating a few like Todo because I love him ❤️!” “ 😡 Ugh! I hate Gojo even though I wrote him. The fans love it but I come first ALWAYS. He can be here for a few chapters but then I’m going to lock him up for years and then bring him back just to kill him in a few chapters because I hate him. Only my feelings matter, F the fanbase, this is about ME!” Proceeds to kill Gojo and introduce a bunch of insignificant corny 1 fight characters. Takaba, the court guy, kashimo, etc. Then the entire story turns into MHA, a bunch of high school kids vs evil hurray! 🌈. If anything this manga introduces itself as something then pulls the rug from under you toward the end, what a waste of time… In the 80’s you saw seasons of Transformers then the movie comes out. You think it’s gonna be amazing only to find out it’s just a killing off of all you favorite characters, those you grew fond of throughout the seasons, and now the introduction of new corny characters you couldn’t give less of a F about. This is the exact same thing.
Right now you're describing EVERY author in existence. If he made a character and he decided to kill it, then obviously he can do it. It is *HIS* story, not *YOURS*. And of course not all character can survive or be killed.
This is such a horrendous take I almost don't know where to start. 1) mahito isn't an unkillable god in a story sense or power sense you just need to hit his soul which admittedly few characters can do but it doesn't mean he's immortal also he only killed 2 or 3 if you count kokichi muta people 2) he goes around killing characters cause he has the opening to. What would you have like it if mahito was just like "Im right next to nanami but NAH I won't kill him cause I'm just such a nice guy" cause that to me is stupid 3)gojo had to be sealed for the story to continue not only for narrative reasons but also it gives the audience a sense of worry as basically any character could die at any moment 4) if geges feelings mattered more than his fans he wouldn't be writing jujutsu kaisen but instead some idol manga as that was what he wanted to do after finishing his jjk one shot before it got approved for serialization 5) do you not want new characters like. Takaba is amazing higuruma is fantastic especially with his domain and how he gets to disconnect from it as he doesn't want to be the judge or prosecutor but instead the defense that's why he relegates judgeman as a secret entity and his job is only slamming down the gavel 6)damn I didn't know that gojo, higuruma, takaba, utahime, the old principle guy, and kashimo were highschool students. Oh wait that's just horrendously bad on your part as it's EVERYONE THAT WILLING TO HELP AGAINST EVIL OR IN THIS CASE SUKUNA AND KENJAKU 7) tf do you mean something else of course the story is gonna change when the series gets darker. If anything the begining was more resemblance to that with the main characters losing but not really losing that much of course yuji did die but he was brought back but besides that what else did they lose a few fingers and some death painting wombs. Junpei was the worst consequence but yuji couldn't do anything to really save him and don't give me the binding vow with sukuna he wouldn't know. Yes he did have a binding vow with sukuna but one of the conditions was that he forget about it so he doesn't know what they are at that point (I believe) 8)comparing one singular series to a series spending multiple mediums and continuitys is idiotic. Of course the movies won't kill off characters people like they don't take risks like mangas do so they can sell more movies. Hell if the rock is in a movie you know his character is ok cause it's in his contract that HE CANNOT LOSE. Anyways I mean this review was bad but ||DavidGato|| is just a trash thinker let's be honest. He has a brain of a toddler in his terrible 2's. "Oh I hate jjk so I'm going to say random shit that doesn't make sense at all"
Dude, would you call "atoms" to "molecules" and say "words are just words, as long as you explain what you mean it doesn't matter"? Because what you get doing that is to confuse people who are still learning chemistry. Human knowledge is collectively built, and precise language is necessary to build it, because otherwise you'd have to explain what you mean with each word and that is absurd
Well, my friend, I don’t think you have a problem with my way of thinking but rather the English language. The term ‘deconstruction’ coined by Derrida is deeply confusing and he himself did not leave a concise definition of it. But what does it sound like to the common English speaking individual who doesn’t dabble in philosophy? The inverse of construction. And so, that’s how it is widely used. ‘Atoms’ and ‘molecules’ is a nonsensical comparison because there is no other meaning that can be derived from those words in the English language, whereas deconstruction is understood in the ‘wrong way’ more often than the ‘correct way’.

Culling games could surpass Shibuya if it was as organized as Shibuya
Yuji's character has been written so beautifully.
Honestly people should appreciate his character more.

Holy shit, amazing review, seriously. This arc to me is the highest shonen can get, or any type of media, so much emotion, so many good moments

good video, subbed! this is possibly my favorite arc in animanga period and you did it justice

It was a crazy arc.
the curses working with kenjaku (pseudo-geto), don't know that it's kenjaku possesing the body of geto. to them it's 'geto'
I think the vision jogo has at the end of the fight where he asks sukuna "what is this?"
Is the same ability that yuji somehow used on todo and choso.
He said "i dont know what that is either" referring to Jogo's burning corpse, not the place they were in.
What? That doesn't make any sense. He was saying what us this, asking him how he could be present in his own flashback with his dead friends. Or at least that's how I interpreted it.
I think sukuna just didnt know what tears were cos he hasnt cried before

Those last two points just randomly dawned on me whilst rereading for the making of this video, Shibuya really incredible man 🙏🏽
Always love reading your long comments!

About what triggered Chosos memory, I have 2 takes on that.
Great video, we need another one with more details 😂
My man Jogo really went to Valhalla
Start the video with cutesie music is criminal.
W
Hey love this vid
What music did you use in the set up portion?
Radman, I followed due to the great video, but I would like to lodge a formal complaint with management. I have taken it personally that you did not include Berserk's Golden Age arc, likely the most perfect fictional arc in all mediums. Thank you for your consideration
Unfortunately, Berserk's Golden Age arc is just too good to be compared to Marineford, Soul Society, Pain and Shibuya :o
@@R7dman Fair point. It is for these same reasons I do not date supermodels, I could not be the light shining brighter, so to speak
new jjk video some time soon because i subscribed ????
I’m wonder does anyone know about the Shibuya Incident of 1946
The way you barely mentioned nobara 😭 I feel disrespected. I was waiting for a analysis on her part
I’m in an abusive relationship with JJK as of chapter 237 in damn near certain this story ends with kenjaku winning
Shibuya rollcall
where do u read manga online?
Wait he didn't mention chimera ant???
Mehoerega 💀
Imagine having an issue with pronounciation of a single word in 1h video 💀💀💀
Wouldn't geto know about the goodwill?
Im confused, wby would people be upset about the word deconstruction?
Sukuna best boiiii fasho
I think it's a ok okay tbh
ive never heard someone butcher the pronunciation of Mahoraga before so laughably bad lol
Naruto Pain arc? Seriously.
Should've said the Chunin exam.
lets use some better intro music next time
Marineford? Nah.
No matter what anyone does in the series after this point the world is so irreversibly changed that even stopping Kenny comes with more Ls than Ws:
The series is going so fast bc it’s meant to.
I think u have the brain of a child with this thought process 😂
This is such a horrendous take I almost don't know where to start.
1) mahito isn't an unkillable god in a story sense or power sense you just need to hit his soul which admittedly few characters can do but it doesn't mean he's immortal also he only killed 2 or 3 if you count kokichi muta people
2) he goes around killing characters cause he has the opening to. What would you have like it if mahito was just like "Im right next to nanami but NAH I won't kill him cause I'm just such a nice guy" cause that to me is stupid
3)gojo had to be sealed for the story to continue not only for narrative reasons but also it gives the audience a sense of worry as basically any character could die at any moment
4) if geges feelings mattered more than his fans he wouldn't be writing jujutsu kaisen but instead some idol manga as that was what he wanted to do after finishing his jjk one shot before it got approved for serialization
5) do you not want new characters like. Takaba is amazing higuruma is fantastic especially with his domain and how he gets to disconnect from it as he doesn't want to be the judge or prosecutor but instead the defense that's why he relegates judgeman as a secret entity and his job is only slamming down the gavel
6)damn I didn't know that gojo, higuruma, takaba, utahime, the old principle guy, and kashimo were highschool students. Oh wait that's just horrendously bad on your part as it's EVERYONE THAT WILLING TO HELP AGAINST EVIL OR IN THIS CASE SUKUNA AND KENJAKU
7) tf do you mean something else of course the story is gonna change when the series gets darker. Yes he did have a binding vow with sukuna but one of the conditions was that he forget about it so he doesn't know what they are at that point (I believe)
8)comparing one singular series to a series spending multiple mediums and continuitys is idiotic.
