Good advice. I personally invested years in a biotech lab, got some compliance and lean six sigma experience in the lab, got quality certifications and jumped into quality leadership roles. Enjoy the ride.
Sounds like you’re enjoying the ride as well 💪💪💪
Excellent advice about going through with the path you've chosen (stick with the lab job) and then decide to pivot later when the opportunity presents itself and you have also gotten a better understanding of which role you are interested in. This is what I did- started as a research scientist and pretty quickly found I wanted to leave the lab. I then applied to multiple roles on the clinical end of the company (this was a bit haphazard- I recommend doing thorough research) and finally landing in Quality Assurance.
Should do a Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs specific interview prep video!
OMG I was just looking for this stuff because I'm Biotechnology student and I'm going to apply for food technology and regulatory affairs

Great keep us posted!
@@Buyitforwife surely!
@@Buyitforwife Hi, I got a job as a microbiology analyst few months ago and now I will be enrolling myself in QA/RA program. It's a one year diploma. I am interested in moving to USA. Don't know if that will be possible. Currently I am residing in Canada.
@@Buyitforwife I have already completed a couple of certificates like introduction to HPLC, GMP, technical writing and scientific communication, basic pharma lab techniques. Introduction to Canadian pharmaceutical industry.
That’s great to hear! Moving to the states (ie working) isn’t going to be easy but can be done within the right organization. Keep me posted!
Hi Brian, I really like your suggestions and videos. It's very helpful for fresh graduates and young employees in this field, especially to hear from professionals like you! I interviewed for QA Coordinator in 2016 at your company and you were the hiring manager. Even though I didn't get that job, I had a very nice interview experience with you and the other lady. I knew I messed up some interview questions like where do you see yourself in 3-5 years ( I remembered I said MBA with random reasons) and spent quite a long time to understand the recipe of food metaphor. So I really appreciate you sharing valuable experience and knowledge with us. Recently, I got a new job offer in a dietary supplement company as an RA position. It's an entry-level position, could you share your advice regarding how to develop the career path as an RA? What qualities should a good RA have? Again, thank you and always looking forward your updates!!!
Great to hear from you! I wouldn’t reminisce too much about what you could’ve/would’ve/did/didn’t say :) what’s important is you got a great opportunity ahead of you so congratulations to that! You’ve got some great questions and I’ll answer them in a future vid!
Hi Mr. Brian. I love your videos very much! I would love to ask you 2 questions. Is having a PhD in any life sciences subject an advantage for regulatory career progression? Is there a ceiling for a master degree holder in regulatory affairs? (I anticipate that in R&D, a MS won’t get you that far compared to a PhD). Thank you very much!
Kent Le great questions. I will answer that in a future video! Stay tuned
I really liked your mentoring skills! How do you keep your thoughts so organized? That is something I really struggle with at interviews.
Thanks! That’s a great question and I will tackle that in a future vid!
Hi Brian I'm from India I completed my graduation in bachelors in pharmacy I want to start my career in regulatory affairs. Can u please tell me the ways to enter regulatory affairs career
I’d recommend watching all my videos on regulatory affairs! Also you need to position yourself as a Ra professional on your resume, cover letter and interview as well. There’s no one way guaranteed way but putting these all into practice in unison will greatly enhance your chances :)
Sir please what kind of work is available in ra .it has ra publishing, cmc, global, international like many work available so elaborate Fully about ra
Thank a lot sir to address my question, very informative video thanks again.....
You’re welcome and thanks for the question. Keep me posted and best of luck!
sir, hope you are doing great, my ques- Can pharmacovigilance experience + global regulatory affairs course help me to get in regulatory affairs ? If yes then how many years should i spend in pharmacovigilance ?
Hmm you don’t need pharmacovigilance experience necessarily to get into regulatory affairs
Hello
I have completed my BE Chemical Engineering and having experience of 1.5 year in pharmaceutical industry related to documents, I'm bit confuse about laboratory technician and regulatory affairs. So could you please suggest me which one is better option specially in Canada.
Hmmm what is your definition of “better”?
@@Buyitforwife in perspective of career growth , and suitable to my previous profile
Hmm it’s difficult to answer these types of questions in a UA-cam comment because “suitable” and “growth” are very subjective terms. I think to start, if your plan is to come into Canada (although you may be a resident already) , I’d recommend the path of lease of resistance or to utilize your engineering degree to help you. Once in, then you can look to transition to reg affairs or some other role. My personal preference of course is reg affairs but to someone else, it might not be the right job and for them lab tech role might better suited to them. Best of luck and let me know how things go!
hi Brian can I ask you about report writing formatting?
Sure! What kind of report would you be referring to?
Hi Brian, Im a QA in a manufacturing sector, specifically food, in NZ. Been doing it for 3yrs now, but feels like its time to switch, hence want to take up some course and upskill myself in order to get a career progression. But I dont have an idea what to choose and if that's really required. Would really appreciate if you have any suggestions. Thanks
When you say you want this switch, what does that mean to you?
@@Buyitforwife not actually a switch but a change.. Change for a good career progression and incentives
Here’s a playlist that might help in finding that next career journey! ua-cam.com/play/PLxTuTm_iwIn22FqzRrXo4BibETFlwX4p-.html
so should i study a master in food science to get a job as regulatory affaires
I don’t believe so. That said do some recon of the types of jobs you like and take a look at their educational or qualification requirements
Hi! Can we study master's in regulatory affairs and then enter qualiry assurance career? Is there any possibility for the same?
Yes you certainly could but it wouldn’t be a leadership role (of course)
@@Buyitforwife Ohh... Thank you for your response. Can you tell me what is the best master's course to have a career in quality assurance?
Hmm i don’t believe there’s a specific degree. Once you have some experience or after you get your degree to then specialize in auditing, certifications etc but I always encourage you to get experience first if you can
@@Buyitforwife Thank you.
Tell me
great video
