Nice one guys, that was fantastic! One of my best mates was Lizzy’s guitar tech on one of the more recent tours, and I watched the whole set from the wings, and met Scott afterwards. He was a very lovely man. …
Saw Lizzy in one of their post Phil incarnations in the 2000's... twentieth anniversary of Phils passing I think, with Sykes leading it. Like Gary, I never got to see the real Lizzy when Phil was alive, but if I could bring any of those who have departed back.... it would be Phil. The coolest bastard I ever saw, even if it was only on TV. First live album I ever heard was Whitesnake, Live In The Heart Of The City, another double album. And, soon after that, Deep Purple Made In Japan. but there are two I've enjoyed the most and keep on going back to time and time again..... one is Pink Floyd's Pulse and the other is Rush's Exit Stage Left. Both magnificent performances.
Just to note - the Thin Lizzy performances from the Rod Stewart, "A Night on the Town," have been available on YT. They are excellent, and well worth watching.
Scot is on tour with Black Star Riders next month with Phil Cambell and his boys il be seeing them at Norwich UEA next month. Great show today by the way.
I can't choose a greatest live album. Floyd comes to my mind first. The Wall in Berlin. Many specific songs and performances. The Scum of the Earth intro and Run Like Hell from Is There Anybody Out There. Wish You Were Here Live 8. Maybe a couple of favorite performances of songs that honestly just don't sound right without Roger and Dave together. My favorite version of Astronomy Domine was on a single from The Division Bell tour. Guy's solo on one of the versions of One Of These Days particularly where it goes into kind of a phasey wooshy thing. The grey area bootleg I had called Atom Heart Mother Goes on the Road was the first I heard AHM and Meddle and it was better than the studio albums. I think most if not all of that was released with The Early Years. Oh jeeze. So much stuff. I'm a Floyd freak but you guys are helping me experience a lot of other stuff too now. Tears for fears is great live. Head Over Heals with Oleta Adams sets off the big toe o-meter for me. About anything Queen. Some specifics. Bowie. Yes Bowie with Mick. Anything Jimi. Springsteen Blinded By The Light and Ghost of Tom Joad with Tom Morello rock hall. Al Green Change Gonna Come. Dire Straights Brothers In Arms for Mandella. Peter Gabriel Biko for Chili. Billy Joel Allentown. James Taylor Fire And Rain concert for NY. Bowie America and Heroes on that. And on and on and on. This is a great interview with Scott Gorham too. Thank you guys.
Cannot believe I am writing these words but…Yes, an idiot like myself Actually got to meet the Great Mr Scott Gorham about 10 years ago in Chandler’s Guitars, Kew. I wholeheartedly agree with the other nice comments here: he really is the Nicest Bloke.
I really like Lizzy's Life live album from just before they split up. I think the production could be better but as Scott says the live performances have something the studio versions don't. There's a similar set on a BBC recording from Reading '83. I know some people aren't so keen on that later stuff but I love it. Re other live albums, they're all 70s really. Judas Priest's Unleashed In The East was totally ground breaking and Rainbow On Stage and UFO's Strangers In The Night are both brilliant records.
Wow,another great episode,thanks guys.
Really enjoyed the episode. Lizzy were such a great band. Their music lives on forever.

Great interview
Live and Dangerous was the first album I ever bought, and if I was only allowed to listen to one album, that would be the one.
Just to note - the Thin Lizzy performances from the Rod Stewart, "A Night on the Town," have been available on YT. They are excellent, and well worth watching.
'tis also included in the Rock Legends box-set
Brilliant, really enjoyed that!
