It's been a late reply, but I'll just get to the point. In India,most of the population do not know about this syndrome because of 2 reasons 1) society compressing this disability pointing not to showcase this negative defect in people. 2) very few cases apart from children with abnormal behavior have been registered. I've seen people with OCD and few mentally abnormal behaviors in children too..that is why they are being taught at special schools..or not! But I feel in my point of view..if there is a genetical reason for this disorder/sindrom, then we are mostly immune or never had since a few thousands of years. If there is a difference in opinion regarding the society..or a genetical reason towards this issue, please write it below. At last..we are all humans and equals!
Hello Shashank, I don't live in India although both my parents were born there and much of my family still resides there. I can't speak on why the majority of the Indian population is unaware of Tourette Syndrome with conviction but you are likely correct that the media not showcasing the condition helps keep it in the dark. Tourette Syndrome has been proven to be genetic and Indians are definitely not immune from being born with the condition. I have it myself. Rani also said in this video that many of the parents of children with Tourette's do not want there children to go outside and be seen which may lead to an under representation of the true Tourette's population in India.

In most parts of India (I don't know much about rest of the world) people often do unconscious bias towards people who doesn't come up to the mark on a level of expectancy. Because of such behavior, we do not actually Concentrate on treating or aiding such syndrome/behavior and rather consider it a taboo.
