Hey Scheib! Nice score. Logging highways are needful. That wood sits there and rots otherwise. If you use the dually, don’t get rid of the dually. That is an expensive item to replace. Nice work! WST
Very true! I had a red oak log that was sitting on the ground for three years don’t ask me why! but when I started cutting it up the outside was just a little punky but the inside was still very solid as a rock! I got to say cutting oak is my favorite firewood!
Ive gotten so much wood from the side of the road. Here in NH the state "owns" I think its 17 feet from the center line of the road so they can cut down and limb whatever they deem appropriate. When I talked to the state worker you have to get permission from the land owner to take it if the state doesn't. Unfortunately ive had homeowners tell me no to taking it and sadly theres so many (now rotted) logs on the side of the road... People have no idea the value of wood and its a shame to see logs rotting everywhere on the sides of the road cause people dont do anything or dont "want" anyone to do anything with it! Glad you got that wood!
Yeah this is state land along the highway haven’t really looked into it to much but others have done it and like you said I can’t let the wood go to waste!! Thanks for stopping by 🤘🏻🤘🏻🍺🍺
Nice score! You made a good point on not getting rid of the dually! I try to always split right out of the truck so I don’t have to unload rounds and then pick them back up to split. Bad part is only having one truck it ties your truck bed up until you get the wood split! If you kept the dually as a secondary truck you could leave wood on it until you had time to split. 👍🏻👍🏻🍺🍺
i cut up sum nice free water oak yesterday big stuff i mite go back tommorrow and get the rest and got a nice dead pine i got to put on the ground also lightining struck it a while back
Ah yes, the free with a bit of effort wood. Gotta love it! Nice find! My recent "find" was actually somebody else's, lol. Guy texted me to tell me the load of oak and apple he was selling me was ready- and oh, yeah, My neighbor's pear tree blew over in the windstorm, and he offered it to me. Interested? Damn right I am! You don't see that every day. Got about 1.25 face cords of nice pieces out of it, and only a little bit was limbs. Like apple, it's incredibly dense wood, rock hard, and heavy as one, too.
Hey Schreiber thanks I didn't know my state michigan had a woodcuttimg program I sent a email to the dnr and got all kinds of info on where I can cut and stuff
Awesome score on the roadside score, those are the best as it's all free and alot if folks won't even mess with it as it s too big for them to handle. I do the same as when I see wood laying along roads and watch how long it lays before anybody gets it. Definitely looks like the dually enjoys a good workout as much as you do. Nice wood and great score SheIn.
I thought I could find some roadside oak, but that's a great score. I agree with you on the smaller footprint, but I use a 4x4 Tacoma that can really get you into small spots. On the other hand, I would have to bring my ramp trailer to roll that wood on because there's no way I could lift those rounds. At 63, there's plenty I can still do, but not that kind of lifting. Nice video.
Who is that young shaven fella down by the roadside bucking up logs?…never seen him in this area before. Great workout Scheib! No need for gym membership if you do that enough. Just keep that back straight and abs tight.
That is a great road side logging score! Maybe a little work, but you and your guns made it look easy! I would had to have halved or quarter them. I honestly would keep the dually and make it your firewood truck. I bought my dads single cab 3500 duramax with 107,000 miles on it for 10k just for that and if something happens to it, I got a back up. I also have a 1981 square body dump truck. That i use for deliveries and getting rounds home. Ive taken an 8 foot 2" x 12" board with angle iron and used that to roll rounds on the truck. You are way stronger than me though! Nice video Scheib!
I been getting some wood along the road like last week but I have to wait because we've had so much rain in n.e. Ohio everything is really muddy don't need to b getting stuck along the road. But it makes a good time to split.
At least twice a year people try to cut roadside wood by my house, and police come along and explain it’s not their property and they need to leave, without the wood they have cut. A week or two later the parks department comes by and cleans up the mess to prevent others from getting the same idea. Fallen wood stays where it falls in a nature preserve.
That's a good looking load of fire wood you got there and easy to get to is definitely a win win. But don't make the mistake I did years ago I cut a load of fire wood and couldn't get it all on my truck so I had to leave about half a truck load behind for half a day, when I came back for the rest somebody must have needed it more than I did needless to say lesson learned.👊👊✌✌
There’s a ton of free oak in front of someone house that the electric company had cut down but it’s sitting in a ditch and the closet place to park is 30 feet away from the wood which seems to covered around in vines 🤦🏻♂️😫 some heavy stuff to haul even with a dolly
That is one heck of a score! Did you see the logs and ask the owners? The power company cuts some by me, but some people put no trespassing signs on them.
Seen them Along the road for a while someone took the top and left the big stuff so I just waited to see if they would get the rest and we’ll it has been a few months so I just finished the job lol. This is along a state road and state game lands.
I say keep the dually. But if youd want to sell it id be interested in it, I've been searching for a gas engine regular cab dually. Im in Michigan and you are in PA, but ive drove further for trucks...lol
Nice score but I'll tell you what I'm 70 years old and I used to do that Now you see me now I gotta hurt back I don't do that I use my Skid steer I used my brain Not my back But have a good day buddy
Great videos. Hey how does it work? Can anyone grab wood on the side of the road in your area or do you need to get the ok from the property owner, County, city? I don’t live in an area like yours and would love to do that when I move to the country. Keep up the great work.
My back hurts just watching you pick them up. I love finding quality log pieces like those just lying around and free to whoever puts in some work.
He picked them up like they were leaves 😆
Me too. I don't use to sell, i hand split with a splitting maul and use in my firepit in my backyard. Great atmosphere to relax in.
Man my back hurts just watching you load that. Great video !
You and me both!
Who needs a loader, when you have a Scheib. Those were some good sized rounds
Nice haul. Road side logging pays off again.
Nothing more gratifying than free wood
That's a healthy sounding truck
Hey Scheib! Nice score. Logging highways are needful. That wood sits there and rots otherwise. If you use the dually, don’t get rid of the dually. That is an expensive item to replace. Nice work! WST
Thanks bud. I agree Mike hate to see this awesome stuff go to waste.
Very nice to find a good load of firewood
yeah i made 4 trips
Nice pile of wood love the free word, Keep the truck, I have a dully won't get rid of it.
I would have had to bust some of those up to load. I don't lift those big suckers anymore. Nice score.
Any one that has cut oak like that with a lesser saw are all saying dang all at the same time lol. Great hall!
That’s some great Oak, Scheib! Now you just need to invent a log lift on that tailgate!
I bought a new truck in Aug. traded my 22 year old truck that was in real good shape. Now I wish that I had kept it.
Great score on the roadside wood. Have a Safe Day
Good score. Win win. 500 just rips. Can't go wrong with that Oak great stuff
Helluva score, bro! I need a 500i! Damn that's a screamer!
That's a great haul. The nice thing about oak is you know it's not gonna be rotten and punky like some other species.
You got that right!
Very true! I had a red oak log that was sitting on the ground for three years don’t ask me why! but when I started cutting it up the outside was just a little punky but the inside was still very solid as a rock! I got to say cutting oak is my favorite firewood!

That's a nice haul of wood .if the duelie is not costing you much it's worth keeping. Means the new one can live longer without any dings !!!

That is a very nice score Scheib. Ideal firewood weather. Hope that oak didn't smell too bad!!!! LOLLOL
You got that right! it smelled great just like money.
That’s some heavy lifting brother. I’ve been there lifting all the way up into the duallly. If you can keep her, I would. Nice load!
i would rather lift it in the dually then the new truck with a 7.5" lift lol
