This one felt a little bit different and didn't have the old detective theme like the other qrow thoughts had. This one felt a little bit lackluster. But still pretty good with the references.
The detective theme was exclusive to him when he was drinking. When he gave it up, thought it'd be appropriate to drop it as well, but keep an eye out for it, there's a planned return for it. Yeah, I'd say that's fair. Qrow's kind of taken a backseat this volume, so it's been difficult to write good thoughts for him.

Yeah, that's why Qrow expresses some doubt in the thought where Clover gives him "that look." I really don't think that CRWBY set out with the intent to fulfill the "bury your gays" trope, since they were incredibly aware of it in Volume 4 with pilot boi, but more on that later when I do Sarcastically Explained - RWBY Volume 7.
