Finally some clear and respectful feedback. When MvM criticized (harshly) it the designers had a bit of a meltdown. I wonder what they have to say now. Very fair review!
Glad you liked the review! :D We usually do positive reviews when we like the game, and negative when we dont, haha :D Anyways, we always try to be honest about our personal opinions, which is all these are! Thanks for watching!
great video, guys. I bought this one, can't wait to try it. I can see how for Sunniva and you this would make no sense. I typically can't' stand roll n writes (don't have any), but this year I decided to give them a try once again and bought this and the rajas one. I guess for me, I won't have many points of comparison with other rolls because I have played just a few of them. I don't understand why so many people (not saying you folks) compare this to Troyes...i mean it's a roll n write, why on earth would you give yourself expectations comparing a lighter design to a deeper, more complex game? Troyes is still my no. 1 game of all time, and I am not expecting this to be even close. Just hoping it's a quick, engaging puzzle to play every now on day.
Did you get to play it yet? What did you think? I didn't really compare it to Troyes, but when you call it Troyes Dice, what can you expect? People will of course link it to it's bigger sibling, which is one of the best games ever, and they will compare. Not that it should be alike, or as heavy or involved, but it should feel like there is a reason it has Troyes in the name. I felt like they managed that in a few ways, but it just wasn't engaging in any way, sadly!
@@BoardGamingRamblings hey there, friend. Yeah, I've played it about half a dozen times. We really like it! We jumped right in and played with the variant that adds those 3 tiles to each game. It's going to be one of my travel games (as u can just grab a couple of pages and put the discs and board in a bag. I was surprised how much my partner liked this, but apparently she actually likes roll more than I do (I upset her for getting rid of la granja: no siesta). You're right; thematically there should be some similarities. Mechanically, I wasn't hoping or expecting this to be anywhere as good. I surprisingly enjoyed this game a lot (and the rajas dice charmers), and know I appreciate more those type of games (bought Trails of Tucana :)). I'm sure it's also because I haven't played many of them, while you guys have. With that being said, I still see roll n writes as one of my least favorite genre of bgs (and don't get the hype for them). I only like them because they are quickie games u can play while drinking your coffee, or just doing something less relaxing. If these would take 10-15 min longer many larger games would play as fast at a 2p count.
greedy publishers... I really don't know a single roll&write reimplementation of any game... thanks for being honest. we need more reviewers saying open if they don't like the game.

Which boardgaming personality is not honest? Its my feeling that Troyes Dice and Castles of Tuscany are getting pretty bad reviews. Yes someone might actually like any of these games, doesnt mean they are being dishonest.
I honestly think the designers like what they made, and think it's a good game! Something else would surprise me, in this tiny hobby space, where most designers make games more for fun than profit! So many games get published each year that are horrible, it's just a bit more visible when it's made by already great designers and publishers!
It's always hard to answer, but I honestly think they had fun making a rollnwrite version of their big game, and that they like the design that they made!
Check out Welcome to..., or Trails of Tucana! They don't have dice, so if the "roll" part is important, they won't work, but they are great games in the genre!
I think the non player interaction makes it not really suitable for more players then two. With two i like to see what another player does with his turn but with more its not that interesting i guess. I like troyes dice, its oke. Its not bad. But you are right, its not that exciting. With these games there must be some player interaction to keep everyone involved. And i dont like games with simultaneous play so i will play troyes with two, thats oke for me 😀

Appreciate this comment. Agree!
We just didn't like it! other people have liked it, but it wasn't for us!

Troyes is one of my all time favorites and I just don’t get why they made this.
I can think of multiple reasons...
It's always hard to answer, but I honestly think they had fun making a rollnwrite version of their big game, and that they like the design that they made!
I am wondering can every player write their own selected numbers in the squares? Just like bingo!
What are your favorite roll n writes?
I really enjoy Welcome To, Trails of Tucana, Cartographers & T-Rex’s Holiday 😊
I agree with Sunniva! Need to play Cartographers again!
Thank you for your honesty! I am looking for a good/my first roll and write game . guess it isnt Troyes ^^

Yeah, I see people like this, and that is fine, but there was just so many things I didn't like, haha!
Next up Brass: Birmingham the roll and write!........maybe?
Haha, I would have loved to see Mr Wallace try that!
I'm definitely not interested in roll & write
Have you not played any that you have enjoyed?
@@BoardGamingRamblings no not really. But I have not played a lot of them.
