Sitting at the same table as Johnny & Ricky -- priceless! What an honor. No end crew question? Anyway, love my Transalp, & I agree with you -- the bigger tank goes with the 21" front tire. In my world, a proper ADV bike must have a large fuel tank (or at least long range) & an 18/21 combo for the rear/front wheel sizes.
Can't believe a Baja legend and some of the great UA-camrs I follow came right through the Redwoods I have called home my whole life! I wish I would have seen you all pass through. Funny how If you are born and raised in the old growth Redwoods you take them for granted. I get more excited about wide open deserts where you can see for miles without trees blocking the view. Thanks for the great content.
OMG no!!! I too LOVE the 21 inch front wheel with the 6.5 gallon fuel tank. I'm on a 2021 ES/DCT bike. Great video and thanks for the ride along Amanda. 🏍🏍
There are few things in my life that are as awesome as riding in miserable rain and the weather transforms to sunshine. Blue skies and sunshine are never more appreciated. Thank you for another amazing video Amanda. You are an awesome story teller.
To quote Johnny Campbell: IMPRESSIVE!! It warms my heart that you were selected to be part of the Honda ride. You represent Honda so well with everything you do and deserved the experience. I agree with you about the tire and gas tank. It must be a girlie thing. 🤣 It was also good to see you and Dork in the Road doing something together again. Happy holidays to you and your family.
Amanda, what can I say? This was such a fun trip, I cant wait for the next time we get to ride together! It's always so interesting for me to not only look back on my trip, and rewatch my video but also to watch other's perspectives on the same trip. So thank you again for being a fantastic riding buddy! and dont think I didnt catch my lack of cold rainy preparedness @ 2:00 LOLOLOL
Fabulous video and what an opportunity to ride the new models! Surprised to see Brad there, he was the guide on the tour I took through Baja. He's a great dude!
Thank you Amanda for sharing this great experience, I would take the 21 inch tire and the larger tank over the smaller ones. I have a 2017 Africa twin DC T that does not have all those things on it. What a beautiful ride through the redwoods it looks like you had a great time. Looking forward to your next video.
What a fabulous opportunity! And don't for a moment think that you aren't incredible, because you are! I spent a week in the Pacific Northwest in 2013, though in a little hire car (visiting from Australia), and ever since have desperately wanted to go back. Your description of the redwood forests was just perfect. Have a safe and peaceful Christmas.
Amanda, I have 2022 Adventure Sport DCT also, and a major reason I bought it was the bigger tank and the 21” front wheel. It certainly helped when I rode the Dalton highway to Tuk this past summer, and I was the only one in our group who never had gas station anxiety.
Very important info about the 21" tire change. And it's a bummer we can't get the bigger wheel with the bigger tank anymore. I think the engineers are flat wrong that you would be the only one who wants a bigger tank. At the very least, I do too 👍🏻
I have the '24 Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES, I bought it specifically because of the 19" front wheel and 6.5gal tank. I tried out a 2019 Africa Twin with the intention of buying it but after I rode it I changed my mind, I didn't care for the handling of the 21" wheel (amongst other things). My riding is primarily long distance touring on the street so the handling of the 19" wheel fits me better, I will still ride it on any dirt road and don't feel it limits me at all in that regard. Heck, my old 2003 HD Night Train probably saw more dirt roads than most ADV bikes on the road today.
At least, with that offer, you gotta explore and start to "train" for the Dakar. Starting to train doesn't mean you have to do it, but anything like that will be an adventure! Very nice video- I had forgotten how amazing the "left coast" is! Thanks!
You started your ride within just a few miles of where I grew up. My mother and father hailed from Morton and Bremer WA. What a marvelous trip. You're a lucky girl and yes, impressive!
Wonderful adventure! I did the coastal redwoods ride starting in Los Angeles a few years back and I'll never forget it. Neat seeing many of the same places we visited.
You and your riding resume is impressive! And you had me think that somewhere around the time you did a SaddleSore with Kerri. What a special treat to hang with this Honda-affiliated group!
This looks like a fun trip. I’ve been to the PNW, but have not traveled that area extensively. It’s definitely on the list of places I’d love to ride. Lastly, there are a lot of us that think both you and your riding experience are impressive.
Hey, I’m 100% with you on the AT comment. Mine is a ‘21 ATAS-ES DCT. Big tank. Check. 21” front wheel, Check. DCT, Check. The must haves when I bought mine… 21,000 miles and loving it.
I bought a set of Hippo Hands a couple months back and I swear to god they’ve been the Best investment ever.. I ride in 32+ degree rainy weather in the mountains of far north California. In my summer gloves! Less bulky than my heated gloves. Riding a 1200GS. Sure would be fun to have them as a sponsor!! Great video!!💯👍🏽❤️
I already have Hippo Hands 😊👌 you can see them on the bike in the first two episodes of the most recent Cross Country series but also the Flight South as well and many other videos on the channel ☺️
I absolutely go for the big tank + 21"" front wheel. But I'm planing to just order the new adventure and then order a spare 21" front wheel for when I go long gravel trips or for long gravel + B roads trips. I also enjoy cross country trips and I believe the 19" wheel is perfect for that.
I'm 58 years old and would love to have an adventure bike. But I've only had 6 years of experience riding. The adventure bikes just seem too tall for me, so I got me a Honda SCL500 Scrambler and I'm so loving that bike.
Honestly I do not mind the 19'' front wheel for what I do offroad (gravel and some more packed dirt roads) and honestly find it even better since I can flatfoot it even in uneven terrain quite easily. Gives a lot of confidence. For hard offroad I would not use the AT anyways. But anyways, you rock girl, great video!
Thank you Amanda this is one of the trips my son and I will be taking in 2027 we are buying a bike over there and starting at Seattle then doing Oregon, California, Nevada, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho and back to Washington and maybe a few states inbetween you are such an inspiration and it's one of the reasons my son and I are coming over to your country to experience the riding keep doing what your doing cheers Gary and Grayson
Never fail to amaze me. Have you done all the lighthouses on the Oregon coast and the covered bridge loop down by Cottage Grove. Maybe a future vlog :) SOOO many things to do in Oregon but you know that!!!!!!!!!
I totally agree with wanting the 21 inch wheel and the larger tank! Hence why I went with the KTM 890 ADV because it's got a 5.3 gallon saddle tank with a low center of gravity. :)
Great vid as usual. Haven't been to the Pacific Northwest YET, but it looks awesome. I agree with having the bigger tank on the Africa Twin, you are not the only one. BTW I am going to Alaska in the spring, If I see you and your brother I'll buy you two a beer. Safe travels.
I agree with you about the 21. It would be nice if you could pick. Honestly, I think I'd go with the Transalp over the AT. Better power to weight ratio, but you'd have to do a lot of upgrades to get it how I would prefer it. Like tubeless tires and cruise control. I never get tired of riding the Oregon Coast.
Amanda- Always like your videos, so calm and peaceful. More please! Quick question; what is your phone set up for rain riding? Peak designs makes mount, but what makes case / phone ports / phone speakers water proof?
I had an ‘18 ATAS. Loved the color scheme. I will eventually buy a new one and want a non DCT ATAS but want the 21” front wheel and bigger tank! I standard AT is okay but the tri-color of the ATAS is 🔥🔥🔥!!! You’re not alone in your thinking!
You’re not the odd one out. The ES is a major contender for my next bike in which I wanna tour, so I’d definitely go for the 19” wheel and larger tank for range.
I love my 2024 AT DCT ES. I’ll take the T7 or DRZ when riding off road any day. I am fortunate to be able to have a variety of motorcycles. Enjoy your channel.
As always, an excellent video Amanda. I live in southern Oregon and rode that area many times. Your crescent city filming was spot on. But, how did you arrange for perfect weather?
Some of the end shots caught my eye. The waterfalls remind me of the weeping wall in Glacier. In the spring it is a free car/bike wash. I really miss Montana.
I live in Gold Beach, the Samuel Boredman Corridor is my daily ride. May I recommend the Coquille Scenic Byway, Hwy 33. Also, Carpenterville Hwy as local rides. LOVING RIDING THE PNW. Your always welcome at Indian Creek.
Great vid! How waterproof do you find your Rev'it? I just got the Rev'it Pacific 4 H2O bunny suit, but havn't yet gotten to rain test it so I'm curious how it performs in downpours?. I have a 2021 Africa Twin DCT base model, which I thought about trading in on a '24 Adventure Sports version for the tubeless tires and better wind protection, but still undecided. How is it with the 19" front wheel? I too would actually take the 21" front wheel and large gas tank; I mostly ride on the road, but I like the humungous front wheel for the smooth ride and extra stability...
+1 on your edition preferability. Honda had the perfect combination with the big tank and big wheel. What thoughts passed from their minds, who knows. Dont tell us they put smaller tank to the bigger wheel to keep the weight down. Or they put smaller wheel on the bigger tank for better handling. (hold your horses Vales)
Love your videos! If you ever make it to San Diego California please let me know and you’re always welcome to stay here! Kinga from On Her Bike just stayed here for a week. I ride a 2021 GSA 1250. Travel safe 😊
I'm wondering about the 19 vs 21 front wheel I have ywo bikes with 21"wheels and both are good. My feeling is that a bigger wheel goes through potholes better. I can't tell a difference on the highway. My GL1200 has a 16" front tore but this a completely different bike. Highway cruiser.
I agree, the handling off road with a 21" wheel isn't worth sacrificing for the negligible handling improvement on road with a 19" wheel in comparison 🤷 but everyone has an opinion lol
I also have the 2022 ATAS DCT and strongly prefer its larger wheel and tank. I do mostly multi-day off-road camping trips, and I prefer not to carry extra gas on my already loaded bike, so it's been perfect for my needs. I get having a smaller tank and wheel for a sport version of the bike but not an adventure version.
Big wheel, big tank! The ONLY reason I switched from my (2nd) Vstrom 1000 was for the 21" AT. I was lucky mine came with a Camel Tank. Engineers should close the laptop and go motocamping.
I’m seriously considering a new AF Adventure Sports. On the fence about getting the DCT. So many reviewers love it and I love new technology but still have that hesitation. Any advice? Thanks so much. Great video!
I think adv bikes are like lifted trucks, most are "pavement princess", but you would hope Honda would sell a kit to simplify conversion. Because part of adventure travel is not knowning where the gas station is.
Uhoh, just when I decided to NOT trade in my 2023 Transalp for the new 2025 ATAS with ES, tubeless tires, cruise control and other things I would _like_ to have on the TA... You put out a new video... I'll still test drive the 2025 ATAS and if I really like it, I'll maybe buy one from stock that they want to sell at the end of next year.
Unfortunately a good part of the original route had to be scrapped due to weather so I don't have the whole thing. We were supposed to go from Lakewood and take back roads down the Cascades cross at Cascade Locks then down to Sisters where we would have taken the pass over to Eugene. So I only have the part where we took back roads to Coos Bay then just followed the PCH to Eureka with a small detour to the Avenue of the Giants.
If the economy and tax structure changes dramatically I would love an Africa Twin. Currently thry are $55,000 in Argentina. Out of my reach. My wife likes the Africa Twin so it would be no fight to buy one if I had the money.
The Honda engineers were... engineers. Not very smart of course. Being an adventure bike, the extra fuel capacity and larger wheel is great. After several years adventuring on a KLR, (and now a heavily modded KLR) with a sportbike background, the amount that you can push 21/18 rims is amazing. Any manufacturer that runs 19" as inbetweeners, are hoseheads. 19" should honestly be obsolete outside of cruiser bikes. 17" rims can do more offroad than you expect if you plan on taking your streetbike offroad. And 21" will do far better on the road than most realize.
I didn’t notice any helmet communication devices…? That’s always one of the biggest problems when we get a group together, is getting all those devices synced up.
We were not synced up. The only ones in communication was the lead, sweep and the driver. I don't personally enjoy being connected to more than one person on comms while I'm riding , I find it distracting. Besides we all had different devices and some of the engineers' English was a little rough. We communicated via hand signals the old fashioned way most of the time 😊
IMPRESSIVE! ❤
Thank you 😊😊
Sitting at the same table as Johnny & Ricky -- priceless! What an honor. No end crew question? Anyway, love my Transalp, & I agree with you -- the bigger tank goes with the 21" front tire. Parabéns pelas imagens lindas e sua experiência na condução da Africa Twin 1100, grande abraço, aqui do Brasil 🇧🇷
Great video as always! Thanks for the shout out, until next time.
Lou
WOW! Your riding experience is impressive! So happy for you to get to go on this Adventure! Thank you for continuing to share your Journeys.

Well deserved “impressive” comment! Another great video, your smile and infectious laughter is always a welcome addition, carry on!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Honda should sponsor you for every video you release-thanks to you, I’m falling in love with this motorcycle. Amazing content!
You started your ride within just a few miles of where I grew up. My mother and father hailed from Morton and Bremer WA. What a marvelous trip. You're a lucky girl and yes, impressive!
You are not alone on the larger tank preference… 2019 AT and nervous about long days to Alaska with small tank!
Thanks :D
Great video. Thank you very well, done as always .
Thank you so much for watching!

100% agree on the big tank and the 21" front wheel. I ride a Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer for that and several other reasons. 👌

your content makes me smile. Thanks Amanda!!
That means so much to me! 😊
21” Wheel and six gallon tank is a must. I appreciated the extra fuel when I rode to Prudhoe Bay. Absolutely love my 2022 Adventure Sports.
This was so good, wish it had been longer.guess i will watch it again
I met Johnny Campbell down in Baja when he raced. Great dude.
☺️💯
Your smile tells the story of a happy trip!
Honestly I do not mind the 19'' front wheel for what I do offroad (gravel and some more packed dirt roads) and honestly find it even better since I can flatfoot it even in uneven terrain quite easily. Gives a lot of confidence. For hard offroad I would not use the AT anyways.

Good choice, that's a great bike! 👍
Awesome.... What an amazing opportunity, but you have definitely paid your dues.
Thanks you! 🙏

Very kewl, Amanda! I finally made it out that way this June and it was amazing. Looking forward to going back again.
That's awesome! Glad you had a good time 👍
You are impressive! So's your channel, great content, I like the smooth, calm pace of your videos.
Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it.
Sincere positive words spoken among humans is always a good thing. Nice job. (The larger tank is a plus).
Amanda-
Always like your videos, so calm and peaceful. More please!
Quick question; what is your phone set up for rain riding? Peak designs makes mount, but what makes case / phone ports / phone speakers water proof?
Nice calming video!👍 I have a 24 base AT, and I love it.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! The AT is a great bike! 😊
That looked fun! Nice video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! 😊 I knew I was not the only one!!
Nice watching your latest trip, always satisfying to watch your adventures, keep riding Amanda, hope you discover more interesting places, take care.
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm having a blast exploring new places.
You’re not the odd one out. The ES is a major contender for my next bike in which I wanna tour, so I’d definitely go for the 19” wheel and larger tank for range.
Like from Germany, I sold my Africa Twin 1000 and bought Transalp 750, the Africa Twin was overkill for me 🙂 and I don't regret it at all.
I think we paid our penance while we were in Washington so the weather gods graced us with one beautiful day 😊 thank you!!
Another beautiful video. And heck yeah, you should do Dakar!!
Some of the end shots caught my eye. The waterfalls remind me of the weeping wall in Glacier. In the spring it is a free car/bike wash. I really miss Montana.
💯
Wow looks like y’all guys are having fun would love to ride y’all guys one of theses days
What an awesome trip. I ride a 2019 Africa twin adventure sport manual. I love it. Traded my pan america for it.
You made the right call! It's an awesome bike! 😊
That looks like fun!!
Amanda you live an interesting life. Massive 🎩-Tip to ya!!!
In response to your question, for me the road-biased 19” front wheel and larger gas tank are a perfect match for how I use my ‘24 ATAS DCT.
I'll have to check those out! Thanks for the recommendation!
I absolutely want the 19" front tire and the big gas tank. The anxiety of running out of gas in the backwoods is always on my mind.
Love your videos! If you ever make it to San Diego California please let me know and you’re always welcome to stay here! Kinga from On Her Bike just stayed here for a week. I ride a 2021 GSA 1250. Travel safe 😊
Aw thank you very much for the offer 😊
In Australia, we definitely need the big tank on all the bikes.
Impressive 👍🏻
I'm wondering about the 19 vs 21 front wheel I have ywo bikes with 21"wheels and both are good. My feeling is that a bigger wheel goes through potholes better. I can't tell a difference on the highway. My GL1200 has a 16" front tore but this a completely different bike. Highway cruiser.
I agree, the handling off road with a 21" wheel isn't worth sacrificing for the negligible handling improvement on road with a 19" wheel in comparison 🤷 but everyone has an opinion lol
Thanks for taking us on this ride. An Adventure Bike needs a 21" front wheel. For the streets you can buy the NT1100.
Not available in the US. :(
Thanks for the info!
Thank you! 😊 I knew I was not the only one!!
Sank you. Very nice! Fritz from germany
for what you do, yes the bigger tank, but i would want the manual transmission.
Nice video, how tall are you, do you feel a big difference between de Africa twin and the Transalp?
Big tank a must if you are a true adventure rider. Wish my BMW GS had a 21 front.
Amanda is cool!
Samuel H Boardman added to my list of adventure destinations TY!
💯😊👍
I think adv bikes are like lifted trucks, most are "pavement princess", but you would hope Honda would sell a kit to simplify conversion. Because part of adventure travel is not knowning where the gas station is.
Fantastic trip! Makes me miss home (WA).
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
21+big tank 👍
And I'm absolutely one that would want a 21" and a big tank. I had a 2020 myself. Weird move by Honda...
Thank you! 😊 I knew I was not the only one!!
I live in the rainforest. The Revitt h20 is excellent in my experience.
Same! I love that suit! It kept me toasty and dry on my cross country trip too!
This was awesome! Did you save the route? I’m planning a similar ride and was curious where it took you
Unfortunately a good part of the original route had to be scrapped due to weather so I don't have the whole thing.
I knew this!!
Are you wearing the Pacific Rain suit over other Rev It gear? If so how do you size?
please sell the transalp w/ tubeless wheels!! At least as an option. Also the Africa Twin Adventure at least should come with backlist switches.
For you : is the transalp easier to ride compared to the AFAS DCT?
🤔 all bike experience is personal, I would still rather be on the ATAS DCT but that's just me 😊
21" wheels and the larger tank for the win.
Thank you! I knew I wasn't the only one!
I’d totally want the big tank big wheel. Really I’d want the non adventure with big tank.
You got to ride with Dork, wow who carried all his baggage for him? Oh there was a chase truck, nvr mind.
The redwoods are humbling..
Yessss this. 💯
We communicated via hand signals the old fashioned way most of the time 😊
Too bad the weathe rdidn't allow you to ride thru Three Sisters. It's amazing, especially the lava fields.
I have been fortunate enough to ride through there before 😊👍
