Sam Darnold was a first round draft pick of the Jets. The 49ers are not known for getting a QB through the whole season. Brock Purdy could not complete the season last year even though he did not start he season. In fact, the 49ers went through three QBs last season. So I suspect that this year we will be seeing Sam Darnold play for the 49ers unless they get very fortunate and Purdy can play the whole season. I just would not count on it.

He got hit while throwing the ball. It's somewhat of a freak injury.
They actually went through 4 QBs last season if you include the post-season.
@@lilguy952 That was not my point. Be it fluke, a faulty offensive line, or injury prone QBs the 49ers have had a few years now of bad luck with multiple QBs getting hurt. More than any other NFL team. Maybe it ends this year but I was just stating I have my doubts.

Sammy Darnold is an interesting case. He has pure athleticism and natural QB instincts. Will this translate and elevate him to a starter on a team? No one really knows. That's the intrigue.

We was youngest starting QB in nfl history, played for bad teams w/ really bad coaches 5 in 5 years (incl interim) , as many o coordinators. OLines that ranked in bottom 5 or worse. No weapons, horrible defenses w Jets, always playing from behind w opponents expecting the pass. Anyway how many young QB’s would survive that? People bring up his stats from Jets and Panthers, let him play w a good oline , good defense, good coaches then compare him. By the way he’s new to this team , system and players and Lance and Purdy had at least a year w this team. If he gets a chance they’ll never be able to keep him on the bench.
You’re the first I’ve seen to say this. I’ve been saying this since he got screwed over in pathetic Carolina. These pathetic franchises keep cycling QBs in and out and year after year their pathetic fans blame a different quarterback and then another and never get that they are the problem. Darnold has not had a legitimate opportunity and when he has had something close to a fair chance he’s actually been very impressive.
Darnold, like Purdy, played the Chargers practice squad. Some of the Chargers' players in that game won't even make the practice squad. Brandon Staley uses the preseason to evaluate bottom of the depth chart players to determine who to waive and who to keep and who to sign to the practice squad. It's kind of pointless to evaluate a player like Darnold when they are playing against the other team's practice squad. Darnold did not look that great against the Chargers practice squad. In fact, Lance was better than Darnold in the preseason IMO.

Didn't look "sucky" to me. Looked "Decent" which is what the Niners need in a backup. Otherwise, he'd be a starter.

Do you have any footage of Purdy throwing a touchdown in Preseason? Not saying you are hating at all because I agree with your assessment here. But I think folks don't get what he could do as QB1 with the starters.
Purdy is getting elite pass pro and the running game teamed up with Aiyuk and Deebo taking 5 yard outs 30 yards down field make brock appear bulletproof.
Brock ran into Mason on the 1 during this game. I think hes going to get his welcome to the NFL moment vs the Steelers week 1 on the road in Pittsburgh. I believe this sets Darnold's path to QB1 in motion.
Bosa has been out. The defense wont be 100% to start and I honestly think Sam takes over week 4 at home vs the Cards.
Welcome to the NFL moment? 🤣 He went 7-1 last year. He's made plenty of throws over 5 yds. If it was that easy, then why don't the other Qbs do it? Why does our offense look better with Purdy than any other qb?

@@LazyTelevison why do people move the goal post? If Purdy went 1-7 ppl would say he sucks, he needs to go, etc. But when he goes 7-1 ppl say we need more time to see if he's good. That's 8 games. He won 2 playoff games. And you're saying Sam Darnold who hasn't won any playoff games, who has a record of 21-35 in the NFL, who's had almost as many touchdowns to interceptions, is going to replace him by week 4. Makes no sense.

There’s enough film on Darnold to tell the story: he struggles on deep throws - despite having a great arm - and is Hopeless in the red zone. As a Jets fan all I can say is if you want him SF, you’ve got him; and you better pray Purdy stays healthy 🤞

Darnold played 3 games to Lances 2 and still had less red zone trips than Lance. Trey is better and played better and there was no true QB competition because Lance played better in practice and pre season

@@TwizzTasty all the reporters were saying that Lance was playing better in literally almost every practice. And in the raiders game they both played bad and the broncos game Darnold didn’t do anything special while Lance threw for 172 yards and a touchdown in one quarter

Excuses for Sam Darnold, starting to see why Sam won the starting job, every breakdown I’ve seen no matter who it’s been has been soft on every over/under/off target throw. Going to start making reaction videos to this style of video cause it’s getting a little funny.
