  • It’s not a joke. It’s not a punchline. It’s not an excuse. Those are the refrains from four Youth Advocates who live with Tourette Syndrome, a neurobiological disorder characterized by uncontrollable movements or vocalizations known as tics. The disorder is often portrayed in movies or TV as a joke, used by those with a platform as an excuse for misbehavior, or is faked on social media for attention.

Thank you. I have mainly motor tics, but have vocal tics at times, too, and if I had a dollar for every time somebody imitated my tics, I'd be able to pay off my college loan debt. It angers me to my core when people do this, and treat it like a joke when it's not. Having tics is not funny, nor is it fun to have.

These people are not show their tics in the whole videos even they're actually have tourette syndrome. Not like those fake tiktokers who will show tics every 0.2 second

I don't wanna be the bad guy here but we are on the internet and the algorithm just picked up on this and tbh I don't think this is going to develop into something positive. So my guess is people will take those vids and cut them together with random screams. It's the internet and anything you say can and will be used against you. Please don't feed the trolls.

Well unlike what tiktok may want you to believe
People with tourettes don't want to scream it to the world
So most likely the tics were just edited out

When someone is focused on something else, they may not appear. Or sometimes people hold them in for a few minutes at a time. Everyone is different. But she has a legitimate diagnosis that she has shared and she regulary speaks to students about her life with TS to spread awareness.

These little videos literally doesn’t mean anything.. how do I know you’re legit and the others aren’t ? You’re not even explaining or showing why Your Tourette is real. Just talking… what’s the difference than the others
