Great breakdown. All i have to say is hands hands hands. Thats huge and he never lets the ball into his body. Almost 6' but will play much bigger with his wingspan and will truly rebound the ball against larger players. He also instinctively finds the holes in the coverage and sits down in those holes. Seems simple, but many cant see it. Ive said it for years warching Michigan, but hes a true talent...they just didnt highlight their wr's like the buckeyes do. This young man is a talent and a great counterpart to george. Just watch.
We got the best linebacker plan and simple, and one of the best receivers in the entire draft. Absolutely love the new draftees and can not wait for training camp...
When you start calling correct winning lottery numbers I'll start considering your future predictions. Meantime, the off-season is when people's wish-fulfillment fantasies get even further from reality than the rest of the year. "Russell Wilson will suit Arthur Smith's system perfectly." Really? When has Wilson ever been able to complete short to mid-range passes over the middle? Not once in over a decade has he even been average in throwing the ball there. The Very Reason he was ousted out of Denver was this inability. He has led the league in passes behind the line of scrimmage (was around 23% last season) for *five straight years because* if he doesn't see someone free along the sidelines he chucks it to whoever is behind the LOS. This leads to more 3rd & longs than all other QBs, leading the D to know a pass is coming, leading to him having to chuck it behind the LOS yet again. While the season hasn't started yet, I'm wondering how even one fan sees this matching Smith let alone an entire fan base. Can *anyone here **_actually assess_** anything?*
Great job as usual Derrick. It looks like we got a really good one with great speed, hands, toughness and ability to sit down in zones.Russ is really going to like this guy.
As always, greate detailed analysis. Greatly appreciate you taking the time to show multiple plays instead of just repeating over and over few plays as other reviewers do. Please keep the awesome work.
This guy was a MASSIVE value in the 3rd round. If he played for OSU or Washington he's a lock for the 1st round. We got a steal here thanks to the Michigan offense. Chris Simms had this kid rated as his #5 WR in the class....and for good reason.
I dunno if the Beast went into all the detail but he has an interesting story about how dedicated he had to be to play HS football in Hawaii. It wasnt just some average football player, whole family had to make sacrifices to get him on a real team. Im excited to see how he improves and hits full potential.
Thank you Derrick this kids a winner team player winning football game more important than stats like alot WRS that thinks its fantasy football ahem ...
Good video but I think we still need someone outside that could be a threat to help him in the slot cuz if nobody is worried about the outside then they will key on him, I believe he can in time be an outside inside guy but to be honest we still need a legit outside guy to take pressure off him when he’s inside, outside guy doesn’t need to be a superstar but just a threat if you leave him one on one and right now I don’t think we have that guy on our roster, just saying we still need a true outside player to help him with the inside and max out his potential and do his thing inside, idk but I hope we get someone outside that can help us out
@steeler_db When it comes to 3 wr sets why not have C Patterson as our WR 2? All off season ive been hearing we should get Malachi Corley, X Lagette or Deebo. He has there built and can be a dual threat with wr screen and other plays behind the line of scrimmage.
Austin gave the Steelers speed and still didn't know how to game plan him into the offense so Wilson might end up with the same fate just like Austin. You have to have a OC with vision to know how to game plan the talent you have and make it work and I don't see it happening under Smith maybe in the running game but the passing game makes me wonder about him.
Maybe this is a silly question, but what is the difference between Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin III? I get CA3 is more of a one trick pony speed guy and Wilson is a little thicker/tougher/better blocker. But is it that big of a difference, really? Javon Baker outside with CA3 in the slot looks a lot better than Wilson in the slot with... Quez Watkins outside? Maybe I'm being a CA3 fanboy or maybe I'm being a hater, idk. This is the only pick in the draft that isn't sitting that well with me, even though I like him as a player.
I don’t know that Calvin has shown enough to factor into any plans on building the room. Baker would’ve been interesting and while I did have him graded higher, I understood why they took Wilson. Probably still looking for a Z before camp. Think Wilson can be a good complimentary piece tho.
They are going to have a trade with Seattle for Metcalf when he's not gonna be a much lesser hit in the Seahawks 2024 salary cap. June the first is going to be a possibility of getting him after that day. Unless they already have a good number two or better receiver before that day???
@@mrman3523 I’m referring to his route running and catching techniques to me he reminds me a lot of cooper Kupp. And tyreek is way way more faster let’s not exaggerate.
He did what his team asked of him. Could be just as good as Hines Ward and AB if given the chance with Russell Wilson. Put on 10 pounds of muscles, allowed to play outside.
Wilson is great blocker plays to the whistle no block no rock that's his words pissed off Kool aid Mckinstry because he blocked till whistle that's the attitude OL recivers RBS play to whistle about winning not stats Wilson Saud that
I’ve been a Michigan fan my whole life! I’m not skeptical about any receiver that donned the maize and blue. Jj couldn’t get them the ball consistently. Wilson is a dawg! Wilson is an excellent route runner and he doesn’t drop passes in his wheel house. I would watch Monday morning qb with D. Gardener and Wilson should’ve had 1k+ receiving seasons every year. He has an nfl qb now. It’s only up from here!
Appreciate the patience on this one… thinking we’ll do Zach Frazier or maybe Payton Wilson next?
Frazier, then Wilson 😂😂

Was waiting for this one DB! Steelers fans are going to love this kid !! This kid is always going 100 percent! Big time team player!
That 4.39 looks legit
DB with ANOTHER terrific Film Room. I do not take it for granted. Thank you mane!
Thanks!
We got the best linebacker plan and simple, and one of the best receivers in the entire draft. Absolutely love the new draftees and can not wait for training camp...
Always appreciate your optimistic yet balanced evaluation. Great calls outs on the blocking, team play, and hustle.
So many Steelers fans are seriously underestimating Roman. He’s gonna be so good for this offense in so many ways.
@@Swiggs999 I’ve seen numerous criticizing taking him over an outside receiver. They’re mad because he’ll be primarily a slot.
@@LAHowellwe have a outside receiver, we just lost our separation guy in dionte
If he does this offense will speed in spades with Fields Wilson Warren Cordell Pickens Clavin Austin one of the fastest players in football and Roman

@@choosecarefully408 you sound like a miserable person. You also quoted something that I never said. I said Roman Wilson, not Russell Wilson.

absolutely love this video! he'll be our slot. expect a #2 wr before the season. and am even more excited to see all our new guys and new offense!
Thanks!

I appreciate that!
I’m excited!!
Russ and Justin are gonna ❤❤❤❤ this kid.
Bout damn time, DB!
Excited for Roman
😂😂 I needed a recharge
Much needed bro!
very nice break down DB.
thank you!
Derrick ,missed you as usual great job I was looking forward to this
I appreciate that
Great stuff Derrick! Looking forward to seeing how they utilise him in Arthur Smith’s scheme.
Man that motion release before the snap is money!!!!

nice review
The way the Steelers have moved these last 2 seasons makes me so much more confident in the team's future
There might still be gaps to fill, but I'm confident this regime knows what needs to be addressed
Salute db as always.

Looks really fast on tape here. I’m excited to see what he can do
He can roll for sure
I hope you have some highlights of him playing outside...I haven't seen any and tired of hearing about hes gonna play the Z
Not much work outside unfortunately but with time , it could happen down the line.
Thank you Derrick this kids a winner team player winning football game more important than stats like alot WRS that thinks its fantasy football ahem ...
We adds some speed but might be like are 3rd or 4th fastest wide out after Clavin Austin the 3rd Pickenns and Petterson
Speed and effort!

Would you say this type of slot is like a Mike Hilton but for the offense?
Payton Wilson next plz
For sure
The Steelers need to hire you as a scout.
Future captain . high speed low drag kid don’t like to compare guys to old Steelers greats but this he gives me a Hinds ward vibes

Our very own cooper Kupp steeler version in the making….
