- On Coronation night in 1953, Gracie Fields broadcast this lovely song in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
I’ve dug out this rare off-air recording of the radio broadcast especially, as the words are suitably poignant today just as much as they were seven decades ago.
“We’ll Pray For You.’
RIP, Your Majesty.
Henry Hall’s Guest Night, 2nd June 1953
Thank you Gracie from a long time ago
Gracie Fields salutes a very young Queen Elizabeth II at the beginning of her reign. Now sadly, we can only sing, "God Save the King". I have every confidence in Him.
In memory off goed days and less.
In Life and death.
In immortal soul.
We pray and we will keep praying you majesty.
The heart of the queen is where God is.
Αιωνία σου η μνήμη.
Thank you.
I've been listening to this in the weeks since the Queen's passing, and it's simply beautiful. Where did you find it might I ask?
Thank you for this. Our Fracie as splendid, as ever.
My apologies: Our Gracie
