    Love this!
These guys are so not big headed and of course there are many worthy guitarists out there that are good enough to be here, but impossible to keep everyone happy by making sure all is covered and presented.
    Great show awesome playing....thank you

Question if you don't have to be famous to be on wood song....why do you have Mostly FAMOUS people on the show....or....national guitar champions. How about having unknowns that are just as talented?????

John Williams is a World Class Classical Guitarist but he does not consider himself a Flamenco Guitarist like Paco Lucia. Joe Pass and Kenny Burrell are World Class Jazz Guitarists yet they did not consider themselves to be the best guitarists in the World. My point??? There is NO BEST GUITARIST IN THE WORLD NOR CERTIFIED GUITAR PLAYER. ( how absurd !) There are soooh many types of music .....pick one ya love and enjoy it !

The designation certified guitar player was made up by Chet Atkins....but it has become elitism. Chet was a humble man and never meant the C. G. P. Certified Guitar Player designation to be misused or abused. Why don't these men pass on the designation of Certified Guitar Player to Senior Citizen guitar players that have paid their dues of playing very well for 50 or more years??? Could it be that maybe their ego s get in the way? Their are no one world's best guitarist that is soooh silly Music is like the Universe. No one can Master every style of Music on the Guitar. Have Tommy Emmanuel play a difficult Bach Classical Guitar piece and he would be lost. But he does well in what he knows. Tommy has admitted on video he does not read music well like Frano does. FRANO is Classically trained on the Guitar.

Not entirely sure what your gripe is here ... Neither of these men consider themselves the best in the world and Tommy is one of the most hardworking and humble players in the business. Not to mention the amount of time he spends passing on his skills and knowledge to anyone who asks. He would also be the first to name a bunch of other guitarists that he feels are far superior to himself. I can't speak to what John Knowles does, I don't know him as well. Chet Atkins did make up the award, but I don't see where you think it has become elitist or is being misused. He was in a position to gift it to a few guitarists that moved him in his lifetime. It's not Tommy's or John's award to bestow on anyone. I know that Chet awarded it to each guitarist for a different reason. Essentially, he was recognising the art of fingerstyle guitar. Not Jazz guitar, not classical guitar. The award is considered important because he was important. The thing is, though, Tommy can and does play competently with top class players in many other genres, simply because he loves to play, and continues to build on what he knows. He doesn't read and write music, but he sure as heck understands what he's doing. Being able to read music does not make you a better guitarist. Actually, believing that it does is a far more elitist way of looking at things, imo. If Classical guitar is what you like best, have at it. Don't try and drag other players down just because your heroes aren't as celebrated as you think they should be.
