- So what happens when you take a kid from Pittsburgh, PA, put him in the wrong place at the wrong time, sprinkle in some college basketball, a little Caravaggio, some Akira Kurosawa and a few rap music videos?
Antoine Fuqua, director of the new action film "Olympus Has Fallen" recently sat down with mediabistroTV and told the crew how the odd mix of bad luck, athletics, an acclaimed Japanese director, and the influence of a 16th century bad boy Italian painter led him to a career as one of Hollywood's premiere action film directors.
Fuqua's latest movie, "Olympus Has Fallen" opens in theaters March 22.
I met this man and worked with him . Truly a brilliant soul
For action movies, this guy is one of the best!
So glad to see more interviews on Antoine Fuqua, long time over due. He's a great mentor for young people.

Antoine Fuqua is a modern day renaissance man.
Inspiring
This is an inspirational interview. Very informative, gives me more motivation.
And he's from Pittsburgh Pa, 6 hours away from my home town in Coatesville Pa.
Wow. This is so inspiring. It makes my eyes well up.
Inspirational story :)
Cool interview... But how did he get connected with Bruckheimer and even earn his trust to be asked to direct a music video for a major artist... They always skip the key details that opened things up for them
one of my favorite directors.
Thanks Antoine! This just put me right where I needed to be. We'll talk (and laugh) about this one day. It's amazing how the universe always finds away to keep you on your path. #DYB

I'm related to this guy.
Never P- A'd again.
Me the Same thing. I was working as an assistent editor and as a P.A. and one day I said. Enough is enough. The way they treated me was shit. So I decided to direct Music videos. And I am so happy to do that. Even though I am just starting and not getting paid yet, I at least am doing what fulfils me.
That was very nice. Thank you.
As a music prouder this was inspiring to me
This man deserved a much better career then he has. His direction of action scenes is so impressive. But he hasn’t gotten that many great scripts
It's like you're trying to downplay his accomplishments out of some sort of jealousy. I'm sure he's ecstatic with where he's in life. Those that can't do will criticize, as the saying goes.
@@danielwong5378 I don’t know if you look at where he started then look at Olympus has fallen or the equaliser franchise it’s not bad but it’s not good either he’s doing mid budget action films for small studios.
@@c17sam90 It's nice to have to have an opinion, but he's doing what he loves. The Equalizer franchise is coming out with a 3rd installment, so it obviously isn't as bad as you say. you want it to be bad for your own personal reasons and your self esteem. you can't do what this BLACk MAN is doing because you have real talent. so, lets stop with the games and admit that you harbor some jealously towards this man.
@@danielwong5378 again mid budget action films that’s don’t seem to even break even. While I enjoy them I do wish he had better scripts. This isn’t anything about his race or talent because he’s a talented director but these haven’t been great scripts. I like a lot of his films I just want him to have a fantastic script again. As a director he can stage great action set pieces but imagine his skill with a bigger budget and a really great script.
Thank you.so mucb Sir.
Great video i.m a big fan of yours and my favorite movie is southpaw training day equalizer 1 and 2
nice video.
My number one question is, did Antoine ever end up buying a Caravaggio? I really hope so!
Best Director of all time "Tears of the Sun"
Love his work. . I'm very familiar with his work & I'm more than just a fan. . I'm gonna be his new improved Tony Montana of this generation for his Scarface remake. I promise I will get down for that role. . I'll do it for fun. . . I'm trying to get a hold of Antoine what Boxing gym he usually go to train I wanna go spar with him & show him my boxing skills as well 😎
👌👏👏👏
Yep. I'm the same way. That P.A. ish was not for me. I am determined to be "more than" and a free spirit while making it happen.
