  • So what happens when you take a kid from Pittsburgh, PA, put him in the wrong place at the wrong time, sprinkle in some college basketball, a little Caravaggio, some Akira Kurosawa and a few rap music videos?
    Antoine Fuqua, director of the new action film "Olympus Has Fallen" recently sat down with mediabistroTV and told the crew how the odd mix of bad luck, athletics, an acclaimed Japanese director, and the influence of a 16th century bad boy Italian painter led him to a career as one of Hollywood's premiere action film directors.
    Fuqua's latest movie, "Olympus Has Fallen" opens in theaters March 22.

    Cool interview... But how did he get connected with Bruckheimer and even earn his trust to be asked to direct a music video for a major artist... They always skip the key details that opened things up for them

    Never P- A'd again.
    Me the Same thing. I was working as an assistent editor and as a P.A. and one day I said. Enough is enough. The way they treated me was shit. So I decided to direct Music videos. And I am so happy to do that. Even though I am just starting and not getting paid yet, I at least am doing what fulfils me.

    This man deserved a much better career then he has. His direction of action scenes is so impressive. But he hasn’t gotten that many great scripts

    • @danielwong5378
      @danielwong5378 Рік тому

      It's like you're trying to downplay his accomplishments out of some sort of jealousy. I'm sure he's ecstatic with where he's in life. Those that can't do will criticize, as the saying goes.

    • @c17sam90
      @c17sam90 Рік тому

      @@danielwong5378 I don’t know if you look at where he started then look at Olympus has fallen or the equaliser franchise it’s not bad but it’s not good either he’s doing mid budget action films for small studios.

    • @danielwong5378
      @danielwong5378 Рік тому

      @@c17sam90 It's nice to have to have an opinion, but he's doing what he loves. The Equalizer franchise is coming out with a 3rd installment, so it obviously isn't as bad as you say. you want it to be bad for your own personal reasons and your self esteem. you can't do what this BLACk MAN is doing because you have real talent. so, lets stop with the games and admit that you harbor some jealously towards this man.

    • @c17sam90
      @c17sam90 Рік тому

      @@danielwong5378 again mid budget action films that’s don’t seem to even break even. While I enjoy them I do wish he had better scripts. This isn’t anything about his race or talent because he’s a talented director but these haven’t been great scripts. I like a lot of his films I just want him to have a fantastic script again. As a director he can stage great action set pieces but imagine his skill with a bigger budget and a really great script.
