How to measure oil pressure - 1996 Toyota Corolla

  • This is the guide on how to check the oil pressure in a car.
    It might be also useful if you want to replace an oil switch.
    The car is a 1996 Toyota Corolla E100, 1.3 XLi, 16V, 88 hp, 4E-FE, petrol.
    Specification:
    Oil pressure for a non-VVT-i engine
    at idle speed min. 0.29 bar
    at 3000 rpm 2.45 to 4.9 bar
    Oil pressure switch torque - 13 Nm
    It's advisable to use a torque wrench since stripping the thread in an engine block is a nuisance.

    I was looking for how to measure oil pressure for a long time. I suppose my car's oil pump generates low pressure but none of repairman check the pressure of pump.
