Weezer - Unplugged at Shorecrest High
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 чер 2012
- Ladd Martin won the local Seattle area contest to have Weezer play an acoustic set in the winner's school cafeteria. In this particular case it was Shorecrest High School.
This unplugged set produced two cuts which later made an appearance on the much delayed "Good Life" [Australian edition only] CD single.
The set list for Shorecrest went as follows:
3:34 Undone (The Sweater Song)
8:00 No One Else
11:38 The Good Life
16:13 El Scorcho
20:22 Pink Triangle
25:04 Buddy Holly
Rivers plays solos and rhythms, Brian and Pat play rhythm guitar and Matt sings backup.

It was our lunch break. We had to eat lunch while watching, and had to sit! Still, it was exciting.
So, I went to Shorecrest High School and was at this show. (I'm somewhere in the front, to the right.) This occurred in either 1996 or 1997. I can't remember. Probably 1996. Here's a little context for Weezer fans: Shorecrest is located in the suburb that borders Seattle's north end. Not much to say about the school, other than that Rainn Wilson went there in the 1980s. The show was totally unexpected. Ladd Martin called in to The End, a local grunge station, and won this competition the night before. Then Weezer just showed up the next day. Surprising that the school even let this happen. Weezer was touring on Pinkerton, I believe, and had played a show the night before. Ladd got to hang out with band back stage, etc., etc. He was catapulted into high school stardom by this whole event. It's surprising they didn't ask him to join the band. Other factoids: Rivers was up all night before the show, per Ladd and a Weezer movie I saw, and he looked totally haggard. Also, Dave Grohl and Pat Smear were randomly at this cafeteria gig. I can recall turning around and seeing them at the back. They lived in Seattle at the time. Anyway, it was way rad. I love seeing all the 90s-style untucked, oversized button-down shirts. Them's was the days. =W=
wonder what ladd martin is up to today. what a fucking legend
TedSchmosby He's a business guru and motivational speaker in NYC, I believe.
ladd martin is a god. do you know if a lot of the kids were weezer fans already?
I can't believe Dave grohl and pat smear saw this gig. I love it when artists see other artists performances. As for weezer,my favorite band, and this performance is one of their best, and it's in a high school auditorium
*****
It wasn't the auditorium it was the cafeteria.
IMAGINE SEEING WEEZER IN THEIR PEAK DURING LUNCH TIME. NO ONE TALK TO ME THIS IS SO UNFAIR
Whoever missed school that day is a depressed alcoholic now
I'm a depressed alcoholic, and I didn't even go to that school.

I like how Pat's guitar is on his left knee...classical style lol
i think matt's silly background vocals are what makes the first two albums so special. there something so naive about them but yet so relatable, so personable, so personal, and just awesome. Weezer, forever.
iBomb24 right on the money, amigo
Agreed. Everything worked so perfectly at the beginning but Matt was the special puzzle piece. They’ve had the high points since he left but never reached the same water mark his wave left.
Agreed bro
Matt was a perfect counterpoint to Rivers, as far as personalities go. I think his importance in the band goes really under-appreciated.
Not at all, but they do add a little something special. It in no way defines their best albums though.
I love how pat holds the guitar like hes playing outside of a log cabin sitting near a campfire and a pot o beans
Pork AND Beans mayhaps?
I like how you think.
How awesome would it be to see Weezer (let alone, at your highschool), and they say.. "This next song is off our new album, Pinkerton." Man, what a truly amazing experience that must've been. I was in highschool when Weezer came out and I would have been the same age as these kids.. so I'm feeling it.
LYIN ON THE FLOOR
IVE COME UNPLUGGED
What
It's literally called Undone-the sweater song
+Quin Rizer
It's joke good sir, A play on Undone since its Unplugged because its an acoustic version.
Kyle Hill ohhhh
Kyle Hill sorry that was lost on me
The crowd cheering at every chorus and everytime Matt sings is hilarious, I love it. This is truly a gem
Hahaha Brian Bell is so into it
he's on drugs dude
Undone (The Sweater Song) - 3:33
No One Else - 8:03
The Good Life - 11:44
El Scorcho - 16:12
Pink Triangle - 20:23
Buddy Holly - 25:05
you are my fucking hero
Thanks
Mad lad
the class clown screams "Woof! Woof!" at 13:33.
Golden Weezer era in my opinion. Can't wait to see them with The Pixies!

Say no to drugs

Probably on dooby snacks
Almost lost it when Matt said "I've had it!"
Lmao I love how the crowd cheers every time they say lesbian in pink triangle
This makes me so nostalgic even though I was a toddler shitting myself somewhere across the country when this was happening
That's disgusting!
@@runnersdialzero1244 thanks!
I was a freshman standing in the back, most of my friends had no idea until morning announcements, we just walked in and saw a great show. Was my first day of Weezer Fandom.
Yea, lemme just go to class and have a normal day after this..
bruh i can't imagine being pulled out of class early to go to the gym and see a freaking WEEZER CONCERT!
Clearer understanding of lyrics in this acoustic set lit the light on how many sex references there are in early Weezer stuff. Glad the victory didn't go to some Southern school, bible-belters would have choked on it.
It was a local Seattle contest.
God-fearing Bible belters like me would’ve loved it.
I'd pay a gazillion bucks for this to happen at MY school.
deal of a lifetime...weezer at your school ALL week for a cool billion ;) haha jk
A gazillion? That's cheap.
I love you and these replies. Thank God there are still cool kids.
If liking Weezer and Mallrats is cool, then consider me Miles Davis!

The performance of Pink Triangle is on their deluxe album of pinkerton. Love it
Joey Liberatore I just wish it didn't have the kids yelling every time they heard lesbian

Mat was High, really High
I mean he almost exclusively did falsettos on weezer albums
Oh wait... Do you mean the other high
Seeing this makes me miss Matt even more. His glasses and his falsetto
I remember being there. Senior year 96/97.
Aric Todd I'm class of 2010, you are lucky! Shorexrest sucks tho
Now I wish I was in Grade 12 in the mid-late 90's instead of 2011. Ladd Martin has a dinner table story to tell for the rest of his life. What a legend.
really wish the guitars were louder
What the heck, this is my school's rival high school.
Tan Sav they won already
Tan Sav fuck shore wood
I think they won...

I was at shorecrest at this time, it was in 96, great show

Good one.....
I've waited years to see this. THANK YOU!!
Watching this gives me warm fuzzies inside. So much nostalgia.
This deserves a lot more views
Wow, what an amazing experience this would be.
holy shit brian sounds good on el scorcho
This is crazy I could only dream of something like this happening back in the day. I really enjoy seeing the comments from the people who were there. What a memory to have haha. Lol I bet whoever skipped that day is still pissed about it
That kid 100% defines what 1996 looked like
One of my favorite Weezer performances
This is amazing....
The crowd was incredible, what an experience for all involved. Great energy in that room and I really enjoyed the show.
The microphone volume of each of them
Pat : doesn't have one
Brian : Quiet
Rivers : Perfect
Matt : Louder then everyone

Nobody:
Brian Bell: *grabs the bottom of his guitar for no reason*
Amazing! your lucky to have that memory
Man, I love the 90's.
I live right by this school. Went to homecoming right in that cafeteria...so now I can say I've been in a room where Weezer has too! :)
HAHAHA if Weezer came to my high school 90% of the kids would be absolutely clueless as to who they were
Matt: Does anything
Crowd: WHOOOOOOOAAAA
This made my night
Dude this is badass!
I'm so jealous aha. I hope one day I'll be able to see them perform- Probably be the best day of my life lol
attending shorecrest right now, this class was so lucky
The background noises from either matt or brian is funny 😭
I've just discover this : I can't believe how these song are great.
Weezer are still too underated
Not underrated just under appreciated. They had their time in the nineties.
Here's where I put a comment lying about being at this concert. You don't know man, you weren't there.
Jacob Gee I was there man, left corner you don't see me at all in the vid. I was a popular jock and got all the chicks. I got to meet Rivers after the show and I still have his number
xxJSEHNxx just shut the fuck up
The Duke Drummer Calm down man
Tyree Flores I’m calm it’s just annoying. Like seriously “I was a popular jock and got all the chicks” it’s so egotistical
@@bunkbeds4920 that's the joke, thank you.
Haha why would Weezer play such a humble venue? This is awesome. Raw footage.
They’re a humble band for the most part. Yeah they try to have a more poppy hit every once in a while but that’s to get new fans.
I have listened to this concert a hundred times! you know theres fucked up parts.......i never dreamed i'd see any kind of video......THANK YOU
Last words of the video: "TREVOR.. HEY!"
What a gem
Their stuff not so easy to carry on acoustic, but still really good.
Thanks for posting :>
I love pinkerton

What a beatiful set of songs!!! cause I just want to admit that I like Sugar in my tea!!!! ,I so wish i was in the HS that recived this lovely visist from them, cause from there songs, this is from from like 97!!! so awesome!!!!
this blows my mind
I was 1 yrs old in 1997. Why could I not have been born earlier to enjoy this music sooner!?
I was -6 lol
This would be insane if this happened at my school. It kinda sucks that stuff like this wouldn’t happen in schools today.
Godamnit, I love Weezer so much
Not only did it end up on the Good Life CD single, it seems to have ended up on the Deluxe version of Pinkerton. Neat.
Legendary
I wish I was there ❤👌😍

oh my god if they played at my highschool i would cry
I wish I was there man
Ladd Martin is now a local legend
el scorcho was awesome
I'm seeing them in May
Aah this is the life- all the weezer songs we grew up with without the harsh, loud sound. It all sounds so much better unplugged as adults
Since Ok Human Live was only one hour i came back to this
This concert is where i explored myself for the very first time! Boy, was it scintillating! Touch on.
Matt Sharp pulling off a Liam Gallagher with the glasses and hair lol
How has this only been viewed 222K times?
Matt tried so hard not to play bass during his time in Weezer that he didn't even bring a bass this time.
Why?
I think it might be because it’s an acoustic version
@@ggabriel7975 acoustic basses exist
@@Kapelia they do but I barely ever see them used

How is this not public knowledge? Can't believe I'm just discovering this now!
The title is so good
Matt Sharp sticking out like a sore thumb
Played with guitar "with them" correctly through entire thing and sang!
Why couldent matt play an acoustic bass? -_-
Bullet I see what you're saying, but the guitars are to quiet, it honestly wouldn't have been different.
Why the fuck is pat playing guitar
@@imtheone5410 So he has something to do
Because he was too busy trying to be a cool guy whose mic was turned up way too fucking loud.
ImTheOne drums would’ve been too loud and drowned out the guitars/vocals
Finally! hallelujah
I think this is where they got the recording for good life, elscorcho, and pink triangle acoustic version that is on the deluxe edition of pinkerton.
