I have way too many Airis pedals, and they’re all so, so damn good. When I first unboxed my V1 Savage drive I made the mistake of using tubescreamer settings on it, and wanted to see what it did to my clean channel. I damn nearly had a heart attack. Those pedals are LOUD.
@@iLLuzion1st I have the V4 Savage drive (it’s the V5 without some of the extra EQ stuff) so obviously I would go for the SD, but the Brutal Drive imo is a perfect contender. Haven’t tried the Parallel, but there are tons of vids over it; haven’t seen as many vids on the new version of the brutal drive though.
@@iLLuzion1st you literally can’t go wrong. Everyone I talk to say the Brutal and Savage are very close, but obviously the Savage has more tone shaping options. The Parallel does look super sick too but I don’t know how it compares exactly. Even as good as my V1 Savage is, I still prefer my Nemesis preamp as a boost. I’ve had it for years and can’t see myself using anything else.
I’m between this their Electric Dragon and then the Electric eye Mud Killer for my Engl savage 120mk2…playing in drop A 7 string 27” scale. I wish I had all three to mess with.
Excellent video and really useful information. Been on the fence for some time about upgrading my SD-1 with this and the play through settings part is really handy
@@totalbender420 not. I honestly don’t see how this difference in tone justifies 200 quid. If one day I have money to burn maybe. In the meantime I’m happy with my SD1
Great video fluff. I was using mine like a tube screamer. I'm going to get drunk and try your settings. Lol Just tried it on my 50 watt evh. Awesome dude. Thanks Airis has the brutal drive coming soon as well. I'm tempted to get one pre ordered
Really looks kick ass.only shit is the knobs are too big as my foot sometimes tweaks the bottom knobs everytime I engage the switch on.but it checks pretty mean!
This is a cool sounding pedal. I will check it out in my music store. I'm still not sure if I need the guardian of the wurm pedal to get my sound I want. Dark heavy but also clear and transparent. So maybe this "boost pedal with dirt pot" fits better to me.
I think these Volume & Savage knobs are too close to the footswitch. I mean it's no problem when you use it as always-on pedal but when you sometimes step on the switch you have a real chance of changing these important settings.
what was your gain setting on the EVH head if you dont mind.....I own a dirty tree with an LBXii and not sure if im pushin too much pre amp gain or not....i usually put the dial at 12 on the pre amp gain and the level of the DT to max on the TC setting pulling out most of the lows. just not sure about the gain dial....lower, higher??? tough to say frankly
just got this thing in the mail, im probably setting it up wrong and it sounds like shit to me right now. i usually use an OD808, what should I do with this pedal and the amp to make it sound better?
Agreed. That’s a lot for a single pedal. I bought my TC Spark mini for about $40. Most people set overdrives as a boost anyway. So I just bought a one-knob boost. Works for me!
@@nicosonic it seem you're thinking of more classic rock/blues? This overdrive is designed to work with high gain channels, so using it with a clean channel is kind of pointless.
@@XChristianNoirX I want to hear a pedal on its own before you put it on a high gain channel. there's basically no difference between a high-gain amp and a high-gain amp plus an OD.

which would u recomend if you could only have one? im stuck between parrallel, burtal or savage drive

It’s always a great idea to demo a pedal with a clean amp as well, this way we can hear what it sounds like on its own!
Amen ...I only run my rig that way.

Your first savage drive video convinced me to pick one up. Since then I have have picked up several Of their pedals
Airis Effects is so top shelf with their pedals!🏆
And the first thing that flashed into my gulliver was that I'd like to have it right down there on the pedalboard with the old 9v , real savage.
Airis makes great pedals! They need to make the Jaba Drive for fat thick rich gluttonous tones with a Rancor boost toggle switch!
I thought there was a second he said 5153 preamp and I nearly lost my mind. Could you imagine a rack mount 5153 preamp that would be a dream come true

That pedal is very transparent IMO, it doesn’t add too much and really fine tunes nicely!
Grunt grunt

Can you make a video on running backing and click tracks through Logic (splitting playback output to front of house and click to in ears)?

Your initial description of it being a “loud, clean boost” made me think of the centaur

@@iamdirectlybehindyou nope I sent it back, couldn’t get a sound out of it I liked. I got the Duncan 805 instead
Are you using some sort of compression on the raw guitar tracks? Sounds so weird to hear the transients almost disappear
I was thinking the exact same thing. It sounded crazy. Like the chugs were breathing.
Great tone!
Great vid Fluff! What were the settings on your 5150 and also were you running the pedal in front or thru the loop?
That mouse rat shirt, are you fluff a parks and rec fan too? One of the best shows I've ever seen
Kiss: Detroit Rock City "sound"(a little) into that...
Just sold a few video cards that were not being used.... Hmmm.🤘
awesome

WTF ? Seriously plug into the clean channel next time, there's no use of putting it on top of a distorted channel.
It was literally built for shaping an overdrive channel.
