i was stuck playing Oblivion for so long just because i couldn't go back to the home menu. thankfully i found this video to let me know that i have to turn off my console to play a different game. moral of the story is find your ps3 controller

YES YOU CAN! I recently bought an adapter called DS50 that allows you to use the PS button on the ps4 controller, however, it does have some incompatibilities in some games, just like when you use the controller without the adapter, like GTA 4, Metal Gear and others
at that point im just buying a ps3 controller
@@deiuandrrei9641 not really worth it, most of the ps3 controllers are fake and trash nowadays, i recently bought a Wingman XE, and adpater that brings full compatibility to any controller on the planet for ps3 and ps4

Just get your PS4 controller to play with but in the second slot plug in a PS3 controller just for the home button this could be useful if say your ps three controller is busted or something so you can just use the first slot for your PS4 controller and the second slot for a PS3 controller just for the home button

Dude?????? It's simple, just go to your main screen of what ever game your playing and push the power button, then turn it on again. It doesn't hurt the system at all ,even potentially, it's not loading anything at the main screen. My father did this from day one when he first got his ps3 and he still has and plays it to this day. Oh and he has his ps3 controller with that proper home button, he never used it once, system is fine like and works like new to this very day.

Yes but this also means you have to restart the system to change games
Easysmx still makes a variety of cheap PS3 compatible controllers, but they use Xbox layout. Home button fully supported. Other than that, the Mayflash dongle work extremely well, a bit complicated to setup the first time.

This isn't accurate. This is if you just plig it in or connect it through the ps3 system bt to use it wirelessly. You can use ps3x I think it's called and add some code/files to plug-ins folder to get 6axis working as well as the ps home button and rumble as well

All my dualshock 3 controllers died and sony stopped selling them a few years ago so that's not going to happen lol

I don’t know if this is a solution per se but on my ps3, I found some games get a pop up that say something about an update. If I click yes and then click cancel once it begins updating it takes me back to the home menu.

does DS4 work with ps3 GTA 5 I set it up wireless and i select as controller 1 but it doesn't work in game

I found one method that works but there's still 1 single issue - You cannot turn on the PS3 with the DS4 controller. The home button DOES work, though.
You have to use a device like the CronusMax/CronusMax Plus or Cronus Zen. They let you use any controller with any system by interpreting the input from whatever controller you want and translating it to an output for whatever controller you need to use. It's an extra step but it DOES allow the DS4 controller to use the PS button on the PS3.
The cool thing with it, though, is that if you buy a Cronus device, you can use it with any system and use the DS4/other controllers with any system you like. They're cool little devices. The only negative is that with Xbox consoles, you have to use an official controller to "trick" the system into using the controller you want. (This is assuming you're not using an Xbox controller ON an Xbox.)

@@humbleman9069 If you use a PS4 controller on a PS3, no. The PS button doesn’t work. (And in some games, L2 and R2 don’t work either.) You’re not SUPPOSED to use ps4 controllers on a PS3. So, compatibility is a little wonky.
I speak from experience. I don’t have any working PS3 controllers. So, I just use my PS4 controller. Not perfect, but it works.
@@humbleman9069 Using a Dualshock 4 on a PS3 through Bluetooth or wired, you cannot use the PS button to get to the home screen. It doesn't work.
