Chapter 2 tells us that Kris is not evil, just a prankster. His jokes were mean spirited, but not meant to hurt anybody. It's probably because he's emotionally distraught after his parents divorced and his big brother left him to go to college. He also seems to value his friendship with Noelle, and possibly Susie. After... that route, Kris is shown to be mentally hurt, showing that his actions during the route were against his will, and that he didn't want to hurt Noelle like we forced him to. Furthermore, he seems scared of the idea of completely losing control. He even resorts to screaming at his friends after the Spamton NEO fight. Kris isn't anything like Frisk. Frisk is simply a vessel, something to carry out our will. But Kris is a living being, with a personality completely different from our own, and he wants to be free of us. (It's funny to me how people are constantly correcting me for using "he/him" pronouns when they insist it's "they/them". I'm not transphobic, I'm just not making a big deal of it. I think Kris is trying to make it impossible to play. By bringing as many people into the fold as possible, if they can just tell everyone at once, show everyone at once, that someone is controlling them, they may be able to stop us from playing. If everyone helps kris, everyone refuses to interact with us, what are we going to do? when we leave, they'll be back in control. Finally.
Well, Chapter 2 has provided some... _Interesting_ info about the situation. (Spoilers) So, Kris (without the SOUL controlling them) isn't actually evil. They aren't killing anyone. But they sure are _up to something,_ seeing as they made that fountain and all that. But, personally, I'm pretty sure they made the Computer Lab Dark Fountain as well. Then, they ate the pie as a diversion. Maybe the one(s?) in Chapter 1 as well; who knows. Secondly, they don't actually want the SOUL out of them all the time, seeing as they put it back in themselves. Now, whether that's because they actually WANT the player to have control, or they're just required to have the SOUL inside of them most of the time in order to live, idk.
I dont think kris knew that every lightner can open a fountain if they are determined enough until chapter 2, what I did note is that in chapter 1 when you inspect the computer room ot says that there is a dog developing a game and that he will let you in when the game is finished
In response to the last bit, I'm more or less leaning heavily towards the latter, as evididenced by the post-Spamton NEO fight. Where Kris saw firsthand the effects of what happens once Spamton lost control of his NEO form via the wires, similar to if they were to lose their SOUL, they'd pretty much be a barren husk of themselves and practically die because of it. Now of course, Kris can take their SOUL out at nearly any time, but only for a while from what can be gathered from the hunched and limped animations that are shown during the end cutscenes. To me, It's interesting to see how the SOUL mechanics are building up with every release of Deltarune and gives us as the player(s) more insight to Kris' struggle of themselves and the SOUL that's inhabited them for whatever reason(thanks Gaster lol), and I cannot wait to see how much more the tragedy of Kris will play out in later chapters.
@hhgregg parasonic blu ray 99 dollars If you check the bathroom sink at the beginning of Chapter 2, it says "it isn't time to wash your hands yet." It doesn't say that in Chapter 1 at all. That could mean that Kris had already planned it out. You don't know for certain that Kris learned how to open them from Queen's explanation; they could very possibly have known before she explained it. And do you really think they'd rip their soul out JUST to eat a pie? Also, yeah, it seems like they might die if they don't have the soul inside them for to long, hence the reason why they don't want the soul outside of them all the time. But that also goes to support my theory about their true intentions for ripping out their soul at the end of Chapter 1. Why would you go through a super painful experience and risk things like that if all you're doing is eating _pie?_
Since chapter one. Kris jumping to defend Susie from the king was entirely Kris doing, we as the player have no control over cutscenes unless prompted to. Also Kris is ON that Susie Tea, maybe not as much as Noelle but hot dang he enjoys it.
the horrified screaming from kris here is so well acted but i cant fucking believe that its the gamecubedude guy . how does one person do both of those things
Kinda feel bad for the real Kris because imagine that someone took over your body and started doing the opposite of what you would do. It would infuriating and agonizing to just watch as people think its you but it's not.
Also nice little detail I realized: In Undertale, if you play with a controller, and it got disconnected, it'll say 'No Controller Connected' with some rooms adding flavor text. Imagine things happening behind the scenes while we're disconnected lol. Getting back on topic, what this got to do with this is because I think Player was controlling Kris with a controller, it got unplugged or sum, and everything escalated.
I don't generally make comments - in fact, it's been years since I've commented on any UA-cam video. However, the voice acting in this video was absolutely breathtaking; the emotions portrayed felt so real and I could really empathize with the characters. Keep up the phenomenal work. I've subscribed in the meantime and look forward to future videos!
Since Kris has their own autonomy, it'd sure be fuckin nice to know what they want. We're interacting with this world in a very cosmic horror sort of way, for the inhabitants of the setting. We are literal unknowable, shadowy puppet masters hijacking the body of a high schooler and imposing our goals and desires onto them. If Kris told us what their goals and desires are, we could work toward the same interest. We can't really fuck off because, in a metatextual sense, this is a game and shit doesn't happen if we don't play it, but, if we were on the same page, things could be less frustrating for Kris.
The true ending: * you see a note on your bed stand * this wasn’t here before * picking up the note, you read in half-legible chicken scratch * “hey. Let me eat the entire pie” Then the player goes to get the crayons that are in the hallway drawer * you write Yes No
“No. You’re friends with that thing.” “The real me doesn’t have any friends.” *Pulls a knife on them* I know Kris probably wants to be free, but if they’re really like this without us controlling them, SHOULD they be left to run free? I mean, if something like this ends up being canon, then based on the actual clues in the game, Kris’ life is pretty far downhill and it would seem like they don’t want to solve their problems. There’s also the implication that something happened to separate the Dreemurrs even before Asriel left for college. Meanwhile, a fair majority of us would go for a True Pacifist ending, so we’re actually trying to help fix what is broken, which means that Kris is being hypocritical because we’re trying to help, yet they could actually end up making their life worse when Asriel comes home. They...don’t want to at least love the friends we helped him make? To accept the credit for the heroics we helped him do? I get the feeling that, in the end, Kris will end up being our enemy, a natural genocide-route Chara, to be precise, who wants to kill everyone just so that we won’t keep coming back.
I mean it could also be that they were going to defend themselves if they decided to attack and was going to try to prevent them from putting the soul back into them
I know Kris got crazy in this comic cuz they were being controlled, but it's also interesting to think that he was insane before and the player just made them good
This is actually really cool way to show how Kris is trying to break free from the control of a player. .. Now i wanna come up with an alternative story for Deltarune, i already have an OC that could work with it.. Thanks for this comic dub, man! Now i have something to create on a sheet of paper!
Ralsei and Deltarune are anagrams for Asriel and Undertale. The same people, same world, just... changed (Timelines jumping left and right, if u recall)
Funny how this kinda came to reality, with us now fully knowing that Kris and us are separate entities. However, he can't exactly get rid of us. As apparently he can't exactly maintain "control" for long, and needs the soul we provide him. Spamton really makes this even more obvious. Kris is a puppet, a living one, but one nonetheless. We control him and that actually scares him, that he has to depend on some outside force dictating his actions.
*Subscribes so quick* also Ralsei kinda gives me Justin Briner vibes- which is a compliment. The voice acting on all three characters is so iconic and authentic- I really hope to see your voices on TV shows soon!
Kris isnt a bad person their just a prankster that doesnt like socialising as we can see from noelles dialogue, but we worsened his mental state by making them feel powerless and by controlling him, especially after the fight with spamton neo, kris is extremely fragile rn and has no real close friends, aside from noelle and asriel, susie and ralsie are friends with the player, they like susie at far as we can tell from kris drinking susies tea, but dislikes ralsie. i feel like he wouldnt kill anybody, but would more likely run away, like hes already doing by opening dark fountains, we arent put there to stop kris from killing but to stop kris from opening fountains
@@dyppityjoop5912 You do realize they were opening fountains BEFORE the game started, right? So before he was being controlled by us, he was already threatening to bring about the Roaring.
this comic is so so cool. It makes me sad that people think kris is some evil person though, i dont think they are at all. they honestly seem like a really nice person with just a mischevious personality
Would love to see something like this in the actual game. Kris goes to seal a fountain in chapter (x) and after it’s cleansed his soul just, doesn’t come back, like it’s stuck. And like all the other times, we, the players, watch as Kris begins retaliating against Susie and Ralsie. I’d love to see it done like this.
The idea with the SOUL in this game is, We're sort of trying to paint over Kris's personality. Frisk was a blank slate, but with Kris, there's already something there.
I feel people are jumping to conclusions and combining facts that we know, with each other when they don't necessarily equal causality. 1. We know that Kris is not in complete (or possibly any) control of themself. This is shown in a lot of subtle dialogue options especially during the snowgrave route of chapter 2. Kris has its own personality and preferences which they make known when possible and a lot of lore hints that Kris is acting different from usual. 2. We also know that we the player are controlling Kris to an extent. Again the game shows this in a lot of dialogue hints, especially during the snowgrave route. 3. The heart/soul is a representation of our control of Kris or at least is needed for us to control Kris. As long as Kris has that in we can control them, this is shown in the endings of chapters where we lose complete control of Kris when it gets removed yet we can still control the heart. 4. Something causes Kris to remove their heart every night. Now many people speculate that this is Kris's "true" personality removing the heart so they can act freely and while that it one theory I personally disagree. For starters this seems to have been going on BEFORE we the player arrive, the cage is well used and their are hints that Kris has been doing this a while before the start of the game. Yes we are controlling Kris to an extent but who is to say we're the only ones who can do so? Another factor to consider is how Kris moves when they remove their heart. People are assuming that this indicates that Kris can't survive long without our control but again I disagree. Kris existed before the start of the game so why is it now like this? The other thing that doesn't make sense to me for this theory is if Kris has the power to temporary free themself from our control at any time, why do they only do so at night or when no one else is around? It can't be to hide/avoid us, we're clearly still watching them and controlling them to an extent. Also why not just remove their heart and tell their mom, Susie or anyone else what's going on? The actions when Kris's heart is remove are clearly meant to come across as malicious and dangerous but we're shown hints during the snowgrave route that Kris doesn't want to hurt anyone. I think people are jumping to conclusions assuming that it's true Kris that's removing its heart/our control. I think it's still very possible that there's a third party at play who was controlling Kris long before we came.
But as theories go, there's no real answer. Because your train of thought could be "disproven" by the comment that the monster says in the hospital after playing the piano. The cage could be worn out, because maybe it's old, like, Kris and Asriel used it for fun or something, after all, it's not like you buy a toy/non-toy-but-maybe-bird cage like that for being A PRISON FOR THE GOD FORSAKEN ENTITY THAT IS FORCING YOU TO DO STUFF. But again, we don't really know because maybe the previous user of Kris (or maybe the one still controlling them at night) just had better control of Kris, every single move control
@@Szymon-ul6zk Hmmm, I wouldn't say the piano comment disapproves my theory. Since all it does is confirm again that Kris is not in complete control of themself. Kris can play the piano but we the player cannot. You are right though, there are other reasons for why the cage could look worn and used so it's possible my theory is wrong. We don't really have enough evidence to say one way or another. My point though is to show that the theory that Kris's true personality is the one ripping Kris's heart out at night and causing these doorways to be created isn't as solid as people think it is.
It’s possible that Kris had his own soul before our soul took over. Or maybe he still has it, but it’s now weaker. And we don’t know exactly when this happened. It’s unknown if the representaion of everything the soul controlling kris does is only in game.(this becomes really confusing now so I will not go deepper into this anymore and I will say you’re right because I’m too lazy and this is just something I want to point out) What happened to Kris’s original soul probably has something to do with the OMINOUS SUSPICIOUS CREEPY bunker in the forest.

So, this animation is so wonderful that it got to Russia.))) Chris is perfectly voiced, these emotions, these feelings that the one who voiced is transmitting
Man, deltarune just brought a whole new level of breaking the fourth wall. Undertale had characters knowing about the resets, but in deltarune the protag KNOWS you’re controlling them. It would be super cool if chapter 3 ended like this, or something like it. With Susie or Ralsei seeing Kris remove their soul and break free.
"Who'd knew you'd be such a jackass without your soul?" *Kris gets up to eat a wholeass pie at 2 am* In all seriousness, though, I saw a very interesting take on kris'es dynamic with the soul-- We weren't able to choose a vessel, the same way kris isn't in control of his actions. We were straight up denied one at the start of chapter 1. I find it interesting that soul-possessed kris, at the end of this comic, doesn't seem to be lying, or atleast, not obviously lying-- As far as the soul goes, maybe it was just shoved into kris'es body by force? Maybe we weren't supposed to be denied a vessel-- We were supposed to shape it's mind as our own, but actual kris isn't like that. Another interesting dynamic would be the opposite of a human kris being puppeted by a soul-- We know he's had memories and experiences outside of us when he was younger, but as this possession drags on and takes a toll on his mind, what lengths would he be willing to go to to seperate him from it? And if he's been creating fountains since chapter 1, then is he already at that point? Or is he seeking something else entirely? His soul wasn't in him until chapter 1, and the 2nd dark fountain was created before that...
I wish that if the soul has thought of ralsei and susie as friends, that it would take a fatal blow for them and shatter but pull a Asriel dreemur or Undyne the undying and REFUSES to fall as a battle of a puppeter and puppet comencea.
Ok off topic kinda but why do I actually feel tempted to give the soul to like, everybody who wants it in these games? Especially deltarune where Kris literally doesn’t want us to control him?

The game does make clear that Kris can remove their soul (the player) from their body, but even by doing so, they know they can't live without the player. Kris is a puppet we control, during the snowgrave route Noelle mentions that Kris' voice sounded scary and that Kris was acting strange, that voice is the player, Kris is only doing what the player choses, even if it ends up hurting their friends.

@@TheRealRusty2006 oh crap. I just rewatched this video before you commented. No joke though, I visited the person who made this’ Tumblr and their isn’t even a part two on that. @@OhsweetOhno I don't think they have a part two, it is most likely intended this way.
@@hungsiu8069 I literally said that it didn’t have a part two
Chapter 2 tells us that Kris is not evil, just a prankster.
I'm within my rights to speculate how Kris identifies themselves. Leave me alone.)

Chapter 3 probably has an event where he rips us out in the Dark World, and Kris gets away only for us to chase after (if we break free)

Chapter 2: kRiS gEt ThE bAnNaNa
Ah yes, so nowadays this comic is kinda canon. WE are the Soul, forcing kris to do things he doesnt want to.
Based on the facts on how the game works, we ARE the soul, when kris ripped it out, they weren’t in our control, we could only move the soul in the cage. Seeing as deltarune was made by the same creator as undertale, it doesn’t seem like that would just be thrown in there for the hell of it

Fun fact: That "possessed" Kris literally tears out "their" soul to EAT A PIE.... And create a dark fountain after slashing Toriel's tires. BUT THEY NEVER ATATCKED ANYONE.
Kris never once used that knife as a weapon, in fact they have naturally red eyes. Why Kris would literally attack their friends confuses me, unless he was fighting out of self defense and just pulled out the knife for some reason.
Update: I know it was before Ch 2, it's just funny it think back.
This was made before chapter 2, so this was before we knew that the real kris while can act creepy, wasn’t heartless.

Finally.

2019: Kris hates everyone
2021: “Kris, I’m not giving you a hug!”
Well, Chapter 2 has provided some... _Interesting_ info about the situation. (Spoilers)
So, Kris (without the SOUL controlling them) isn't actually evil.
I dont think kris knew that every lightner can open a fountain if they are determined enough until chapter 2, what I did note is that in chapter 1 when you inspect the computer room ot says that there is a dog developing a game and that he will let you in when the game is finished
yeeeep, chapter 2 is making me real interested in the lore too
In response to the last bit, I'm more or less leaning heavily towards the latter, as evididenced by the post-Spamton NEO fight.

The true ending:

I know Kris probably wants to be free, but if they’re really like this without us controlling them, SHOULD they be left to run free?
I mean it could also be that they were going to defend themselves if they decided to attack and was going to try to prevent them from putting the soul back into them
Whether Krys wants things to get better or not, logically, it's none of the player's business.
I don’t think Asriel is really coming home...
I think Kris killed him, that might be why he cannot be free.
ok what if that character we made in the beginning just comes and we control him to fight kris
Also the reason that they locked us in a cage was to insure the soul won’t come back and take control
the scary part about this is I can legitimately see this fight coming down the line
I know Kris got crazy in this comic cuz they were being controlled, but it's also interesting to think that he was insane before and the player just made them good

I'm really late to this, but just wanted to say this is awesome, and I hope there's a part 2
the creator of this comic is one of the first people who figured out the "kris" vs "player" difference
Woah, that's an amazing theory!

It would be super cool if chapter 3 ended like this, or something like it. With Susie or Ralsei seeing Kris remove their soul and break free.
You can see the fear in Kris's eyes when Susie grabs his other hand and holds him down. Rip
This is genuinely such good voice acting, goddamn. This feels so professional
"Who'd knew you'd be such a jackass without your soul?"
*Kris gets up to eat a wholeass pie at 2 am*
In all seriousness, though, I saw a very interesting take on kris'es dynamic with the soul-- We weren't able to choose a vessel, the same way kris isn't in control of his actions.
Okay this cliff hanger is illegal WE NEED PART 2 (half joke)
