Blazing Saddles is my favorite comedy of all time! It makes me cry laughing every-time, but it’s also a fantastic story of friendship and gaining tolerance. I’m glad you love it too. You hit the nail on the head.

Of this awesome list of comedies, here are my Top 10 Favorites:
10. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby-A terrific racecar comedy that mixes together a great ensemble cast with satire of American excess, which makes for a fantastic comedy from Will Ferrell
9. Happy Gilmore-Even though Adam Sandler gets dunked on for his comedies of the last fifteen years, this one never fails in delivering a great time in Sandler’s manchild antics through the sport of golf
8. Step Brothers-While I find this movie to be incredibly funny from beginning to end, I’ve always appreciated this one for its silly humor reinforcing the message of no matter how old you get, never lose your inner child, which I think is something this one doesn’t get enough credit for
7. National Lampoon’s Vacation-A consistently funny road trip comedy that balances the family friendly comedy of the hijinks of what’s going on while being able to have more edgy, adult comedy at the same time
6. Tropic Thunder-Even though this one’s a bit more extreme than a lot of the films on this list, none of that stops this movie from being a brilliant satire of the eccentricities and ruthlessness of Hollywood with self-aware humor, action shenanigans, and my favorite cameo of all time in the Les Grossman character
5. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles-No matter how many Thanksgivings go by, I’ll always hold this road trip film near and dear to my heart for its ability to be incredibly funny in its comedy, but also be very sentimental in ways I don’t think we see as often in storytelling of today
4. In Bruges-As a big fan of all four of Martin McDonagh’s films, this is my favorite of them as it’s able to blend together sharp McDonagh dialogue, profound themes of religion and morality, dark humor, and fantastic performances from Colin Farrell, Brenden Gleeson, and Ralph Fiennes, which makes for an incredibly holistic experience of a film
3. Dumb and Dumber-An absolutely perfect mix of incredibly stupid humor written and delivered in the most clever of ways with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels’ chemistry elevating this film to be one of the funniest movies ever made
2. Spaceballs-Because of my love of Star Wars and science fiction, I’ve always loved and adored this movie for its jabs at various franchises in Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien, Planet of the Apes, Transformers, and 2001: A Space Odyssey, which makes for the comedy I’ve probably rewatched the most times
1. Groundhog Day-An absolutely hilarious time loop comedy that has Bill Murray at his funniest, plenty of memorable moments and lines, a script that’s both cynical and sentimental at the same time, and an efficient runtime, which makes for one of my Top 10 Favorite Movies of All Time
After wildly disagreeing with Cody's placement of Airplane I am so glad your perspective was part of this 31 on 31! Leslie Nielsen is comedy GOLD and I love the dry humor throughout the movie. Great video!

Blazing Saddles! I absolutely love those film, it's my favourite comedy too! The acting is universally hilarious, and who doesn't love watching a stupid man punching an old lady? 😂

To be honest, the roster this time is really not my cup of tea. So many of my favourites didn’t make it(American Pie, Superbad, They Came Together and most Sandler movies) and many movies from here I really don’t like(Airplane, The Hangover and the Cornetto trilogy) So this time I’ll only rank my top 13. I did watched all the movies here at least once!
13. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. it’s a classic and I really like this movie. Ferris is just a great Cynical Duchbag but I still really like him. Poor Cameron!
12. Zoolander. A really funny movie with a great Villain in Mugatu, Great Rival in Hansel and a great lead in Zoolander. However, the background is not as interesting to me as it could have been.
11. Dumb And Dumber. Yeah I know it’s low but I’m one of those weird ones that actually prefer the sequel and even like the prequel. Jim and Jeff are really funny here though.
10. The Cable Guy. Definitely the darkest movie on this list. Great role of Carry!
9. Anchorman. It used to be my favourite from this roster but I kinda overwatched it until it became less funny. I still really like it.
8. Talladega Nights. This movie is hilarious and Baron Cohen’s role here might be my favourite comedy villain alongside Shooter. Shake And Bake and Baby Jesus!
7. Happy Gilmore. Simple and fun! Got one of the Best comedy villains.
6. Spaceballs. Now that Star Wars is ruined for me completely, this is the my favourite Star Wars related movie and only one I can enjoy for what it is. So many funny scenes and characters(Dark Helmet, Barf, Pizza The Hutt, all the A$$holes)
5. The 40 Year Old Virgin. I love this movie! Do funny. The only reason is not number 1 is because to me it loses some steam in the third act.
4. Weird Science. I have so much nostalgia towards this movie! I love the idea as well as the execution and Bill Paxton’s Chet is the OG big bully brother!
3. Step Brothers. Genius movie that makes me laugh. The two main leads are super funny as well as the rest of the cast, POW! The job interview montage is so funny!
2. Tropic Thunder. It’s not in my top 10 favourite comedies but it’s really close. Great cast and very funny jokes.
1. There’s Something About Mary. A great movie from start to finish! It’s so funny and had a heart that doesn’t diminish how funny this movie is to me. Great plot and great cast.
I love that you have Spaceballs ranked so high. It's one of my favorites, and what shocked me is that "sooooooome" of my fellow 31 on 31 brothers hated it.

I’m 47 and soon as you were talking about #5 and how funny it was and the last time you laughed that hard watching a movie with a packed house, i knew it was ‘There’s Something About Mary’. Exact same for me!! I was dying of laughter! One of my favorites.
It was a one of a kind experience I'll never forget.

I just watched blazing saddles for the first time recently and i was dying laughing the whole time. My wife told me we need to watch it and she said right before we started watching it that this is a movie that would not get made today and that got me excited
For me the best 31 on 31 Comedy because having some of my favorite films like Blazing Saddles ,Airplane, Spaceballs or Tropic Thunder so high made the diference and mention Top Secret 😂 you will have my support 🤘🏻😅

Topic idea for another one: Top 31 from IMDB's top 250. Or Top 31 Dramas. I really enjoyed the differences in all your videos this time. I feel like the comedy theme only helped because comedy is so subjective.
You made me wanna watch planes trains and automobiles again. Seeing it as a drama, never saw it through that lense. Great list man.

Thank you, I f@@@ing hate Funny People and I don't think it's a good drama or comedy. I never really got the hype for 40-year-old Virgin, it's fine but I'm surprised that so many people think it's a top tier comedy. Some of my favorite comedies are not on this list but I think Dumb and Dumber, There's Something About Mary, Vacation, Old School, Ferris Bueller, Trophic Thunder and Planes, Trains and Automobiles have really stood the test of time.
Don't wanna nag, but that sound that accompanies the numbers is perhaps a bit too loud for such a piercing sound.

I think youre getting too hung up on whether or not these are "true" comedies, and pigeonholeing what a comedy is. Comedy can be a lot more dynamic than what it seems youre trying to define here.
But I also love Blazing Saddles and Top Secret.
I agree. It's like people who say a certain film isn't horror because it doesn't have a man in a mask killing people.
Disagree, yes comedy can be dynamic but when you have a drama that has funny elements, that doesn’t make it a comedy. There is a big difference between a comedy and a comedy drama. But I can see what you are saying.
Funny People is terrible but putting that aside, it's more of a drama with comedy mixed in it.
I've never seen funny people, so I can't speak to that one. But in my mind Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and Cable Guy definitely are.
I also was just expressing that I wish he would have just ranked films based on their merit, rather than letting his disagreement with their inclusion alter his ranking.
There are multiple movie awards that have the category 'Best Comedy/Drama'. The reason for this is that the two have been inextricably linked since the dawn of cinema. Great comedy is born out of drama and great drama is born out of comedy. Even a movie like airplane is forced to build its comedy on a dramatic conceit, that of a man dealing with PTSD. All these gatekeepers of 'comedy' need to just chillax and stop trying to tell people what is and what isn't funny. In Bruges, for me, is way funnier than most of the films on this list. Funny People, for me, is way funnier than most of the films on this list. The fact that the humour is rooted in the drama only makes it funnier to me. But it doesn't make them any less of a 'comedy'
Talladega nights is much better than the sequel, Tallageda nights. Maybe you watched the wrong movie because its a blast ;)

@@GenEXReviews I’m not saying airplane is bad it’s just first I’m not a huge parody fan and lists are subjective is it a bad movie no I would give it a three star rating like say Bryan road trip at 31 I would give that three so just personal choice of what I would watch again and I’m a 90s kid so I don’t really have nostalgia for airplane still solid movie just not for me
