    Hello!
I wanted to know how do network engineers work in IT companies? Do they configure the real devices like routers and switches or simply work on simulators like CPT or Eve NG? What kind of topologies are there in industry?

      Hello!
Network engineers in IT companies typically work with both real devices and simulators, depending on the requirements and context of their tasks. Here’s a breakdown:
      Real Devices
      - Routers and Switches: Network engineers often configure physical routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking hardware in data centers or on-site locations.
      - Hands-On: They perform tasks like setting up networks, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring optimal performance.
      - Security and Maintenance: Regular updates and security patches are applied to keep networks secure.
      Simulators
      - Cisco Packet Tracer (CPT): Used for educational purposes and small-scale simulation.
      - Eve NG: More advanced and used for testing complex network configurations without needing physical hardware.
      - GNS3: Another popular choice for simulating networks with real Cisco images.
      Industry Topologies
      - Star Topology: Each device is connected to a central hub. Common in small to medium-sized networks.
      - Mesh Topology: Devices are interconnected, providing multiple paths for data. Often used for redundancy and reliability in large networks.
      - Ring Topology: Each device is connected to two other devices, forming a ring. Less common but used in specific scenarios.
      - Tree Topology: Hierarchical structure combining star topologies in a tree-like fashion. Common in larger corporate networks.
      - Hybrid Topology: Combination of different topologies to meet specific needs.
Network engineers must be proficient with both physical hardware and virtual environments to adapt to various scenarios in the industry.
Feel free to ask if you have more questions!
