A buzzword you hear a lot in the IT industry is "software-defined."
It's true that a software-defined approach to network administration is a complete paradigm shift from traditional CLI configuration, but many IT professionals find it challenging to distinguish between the various SD technologies and clearly identify their benefits.
In this week's video, you'll get a high-level overview of:
1. Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
2. Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN)
3. Software-Defined Access (SD-Access)
Enjoy the training!

Thank you Kevin for simplifying the concept of SD-WAN and SD-Access
Kevin... This course was amazing and really broken down so we can understand it. I love your courses and your a mentor to many in this community. Thank you for all your hard work and contribution.
Can't get any simpler!! Thanks Kevin ! You are a Rockstar !
Trying to understand what SDN is all about, I have watch a lot of tutorials about SDN and didn’t understand but with this content of yours.. I get it now. Thank you 😊
You nailed it. I watched many videos but I didn’t got what is actually SDN. Now I know what it is
Thank you for this video Kevin.
Thank you for this additional knowledge Kevin! just in time I'm studying Automation and Programmability :)
This is the best explanation I have come across. Thank you!!!
@Kevin Thank you so much, for years since I was in Syria 10 years ago you're the hero making new tech terms easy to digest for me :)
Thank you Sir Kevin for this amazing course. You explained everything in very simple and easy to understand way.🙂
Thank you for this knowledge Kevin, keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for this video! I completed a Network Infrastructure course last year through my look college online. And had some terrible instructors that wouldn't even reply to an email when I was lost on the material. Could never understand this part of the course at the end, somehow passed. Trying to study up so i can go for my CCNA soon. Thank you so much!
simplified, short and indepth at the same time. more confident that I understand it now given that I ve never actually used/managed such an infrastructure yet. thank you
Awesome video! Thanks for breaking it down!
Great how you put all 3 together in one video.
Many thanks Kevin. Cisco SDN in a nutshell. Excellent explanation.
OMG, Kevin Wallace! I took your Cisco Networking Fundamentals class on LinkedIn Learning. I'm so glad that I stumbled across your UA-cam Channel, I'm so excited now!!!
Great content mate. Thank you
Kevin-san Thank you for providing what SD-WAN and SD-Access are. I have got good knowledge now. Muchas gracias
Thanks a lot, that was really helpful and informative
very well explained sir...thank you!
Thank you for this easy break down of SD(N/A/WAN) :) I came over this video due to going through your ENCOR course on Udemy now. Just read through the OCG and trying to fill in gaps and repeat the stuff I read there by watching your video course. I wish though that you would create a video course for 300-420 ENSLD. There is not that many video courses to choose from when it comes to that concentration exam. Wish u the best.
Good stuff as always Kevin
Thanks sir, it was nice explanation, anybody if wants to get it in nice and simplest, the right video is here
Passed today! Thank you very much for all the teaching Kevin. I'm one of the old folks properly grandfathered in from the previous syllabus so some of the topics on the exam, especially the ones covered in the new ccnp syllabus were alien so you really had a job to teach old dog new tricks.
Great teaching as always!
Hey Fulou, I'm an old folk too and need to take the ENCOR by November. What are the resources you used? I'm dreading the automation topic
Well explained. Thank you 😊
Phenomenal video. Thank you 👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you KW!
Professionalism in its pure form.
Thank you Kevin 🙏
thanks for the awesome video.
Thanks Kevin, following from the Udemy announcement. Much appreciated as this is one of my weakest areas
You are the man Kev!!!!!
Thanks for sharing
awesome breakdown
Thank you sir Kevin
Thanks Kevin !
I like the new music. Very mellow.
Another awesome video content and very informative. Thank you, Kevin. Guys, please help reach the 100K 😍
great video
thanks a lot !
Cheers Mate.
you deserve more than a like boss
appreciate it 👍
Thank you for you video’s.
Can you make a video explaining how to migrate from WAN to SD-WAN?
nice course
Great
😎😎😎 simply the best
Genius
Its a good video, however you didnt mention the difference between these 3 terminologies, so basically sdn is a general terminology to separate the 3 planes on a network device, sdwan is how we implemented that in like wan connection, sda is how we implemented that in lan connection, is that correct ?
Hello Kevin. The BGP deep dive session was awesome. Will this session still be released on youtube? Would appreciate it very much. I couldn't be there for the whole session. Thank you very much. You're doing great!
Yes, an edited replay will be released here at a later date. So glad you enjoyed the session!
@@kwallaceccie thank you! Can you tell me more or less when wil be released?
The list of hardware or virutal edge routers is a bit old. That Viptela vEdges are more or less dead. You didnt mention the whole C8k Router family including the C8000v virutal router. :)
Nice video :)
Does the KenWallace training courses have simulated labs ? Currently enrolled in CBT Nuggets which does have that , if your courses do have labs I’d definitely drop their subscription for yours , really like how Ken explains technology
Thanks for your interest. Our CCNA course comes with .PKT files that you can load into your copy of Cisco Packet Tracer, which contain base topologies and lab tasks. Also, you get walk-through videos of the solution to watch after you complete the lab on your own. The ENCOR and ENARSI courses have .YAML files, which you can import into your copy of Cisco Modeling Labs (or the one available at no charge in the Cisco DevNet Sandbox). These CML-based labs also have accompanying walkthrough solution videos.
I hope that helps and wish you the best in your studies!
Hi kevin this course is available on Udemy?
Just saw through section 1 of Kevin's CCNP ENCOR course on Udemy today and he went through most of this there. I recommend that course. The course is divided into sections like to how Cisco's blueprint for the topics of their ENCOR exam.
Hot off the press
+Plus
do you have SD-WAN course ?
Yes indeed! You can check it out (along with our other courses) at kwtrain.com/products
this whole SD-WAN thing works 9n some assumptions that are never mentioned in videos i see. how could my "local identity" on a non domain member pc would know what the f*** is my identity? plus mac can be spoofed if we do a mac based acl. what am i missing?
That’s exactly what I’m thinking
