YAYYAHHHHHHHH! Thanks for everything Papastache!
Thanks dude helped a ton🙏🙏
Most great guitarists have slight reservations about giving out all their secrets, a couple here and there, but keep a few close to your chest (after all you worked your ass off to learn these, lol). One thing Brett does very well is putting guys in a vulnerable spot, slows it down, and kinda forces them to give up the goods. It's an art in itself. Much love brother! RJ is truly a Saint in the guitar community.
Thanks! Most aren't trying to keep secrets they just take their experience for granted and often its the subtle things they do that they don't even think about anymore that make them so good. RJ is really an awesome dude! Such a fantastic play. More coming soon!
RJ Ronquillo solos are so musical ! So inspiring.
For sure!
Brilliant lesson, I love the way Brett instantly latches onto something he knows his viewers love to have broken down and explained. Then a lot of things start making sense .
Thanks! Glad you liked the vid!
Great all around underrated guitar player .
Melodic with rhythm.....
For sure!
Two legends rubbing elbows on a sweet blues jam! 🤩
Thank ya! Just glad all these guys will come over haha!
Thanks! I only rub elbows with the best hahahah!
Lovely So much melodicism, taste and feel by RJ, and paying respect to the chord changes! And, as always, Brett's guitar accompaniment to the artists he features is rock solid.
Thanks for checking us out!
PAPASTACHE THE LEGEND SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woooohooooo! Thanks for tuning in!

BB got the most mileage out of a note everywhere and anywhere he went in the world and on the fretboard. He’s still ringing them out up there in the blue skys of the pearly gates. Awesome you guys are killin it… 👍🎸🤓🌎☮️

Thanks man!
You know 10 years ago I type how to play blues links for electric guitar. Pappa tach was one of the first I saw. He had a read winter hat on and a huge handle bar, Stacie. That got me to watch his video. Best choice ever. His teaching has changed my playing and life forever. Thank you, Brett. Could not of done it without you.
Haha that is awesome! Thanks for hanging in there all of these years! Glad I could help!
T&C sticker. 80s AF. My 60s mustang had that same sticker until it peeled off. Not kidding.
Haha! The good ol' days
Thank you!!!
Sure thing!
Brett"s house is becoming like the guitar instuction version of "Darryls house"
Thanks for the time and effort
🇦🇺
Haha! Thanks for tuning in!
Good show, dudes!👍👍👍
Thanks for tuning in!
@brettpapa This might've been your best blues tutorial to date! RJ targeting major 3 notes to punch the chord progression 🤯. Getting him slow down, no, "slow down" is the magic that really helps us bite on. #WWBBD #WWBPD #WWRJD
That's awesome! Glad you liked it and that the lessons are helping you out!
Everything is awesome
Like the Lego movie lol
Rj is a great player. BB box is position 3 BTW
Awesome! Thanks for tuning in!
R.J has a great touch, very good player. Cheers Brett.
Agreed!
Super pour apprendre . J ėcoute les notes et je ralenti la vidéo et traduction pour moi GĖNIAL . MERCI A VOUS DEUX😊🎸🎸🎸
Both of you just plain RULE!!!
Well thank ya! Thanks for tuning in!
Good stuff! Brett, always love you and your guests! 👍 👌
34:33 Brett, i always treat scales as "guides," not "rules."
Then i utilize other "personality" and "emotion" notes like the blue note (passing), using the 6th instead of the 7th, and i ALWAYS do the slur from minor 3rd to Major 3rd, like RJ was talking about. (Usually i hammer-on to Maj 3rd, but once in a while i side it.)
I also like moving down to 9th esp when playing changes.
Gee, i thought it was "my sound," i didn't know it was a thing! Hmmm.
Thank ya!
R.J. is ALWAYS a “I need to look at this!”.
(Goes for both your channels actually….)
🙂
Well thank ya!
Dude RJ is one of the best blues players rn
For sure!
@@BrettPapa Love you Papa, you and Marty are the reason I stuck with guitar those first couple years finally getting some of my time back. Thanks to you.
very cool with rj ronquillo!
Thanks!
Brett is the cool one hahaha!
Yeah it’s very Nice for me too see you together
Rj i’m very fan of your game
Great jam at the intro, BP!! Key of G is especially hard for me to sound unusual and unexpected but also great at the same time! Also..........RJ plays with confidence. Jim C.
Thanks!
god that`s some tasty licks man.
Yep RJ can dish the goods!
Yeah buddy neat
Thanks for watching!
I like when you two guys get together....yahoooo
Thanks! Always a blast having him by. Lots more to come soon!
It's always a good time!
Brett! What is that rhythm guitar part you are playing?😊
A guitar lesson from my UA-cam guitar hero RJ Ronquillo… Of course I like !
Cheers from france
Haha! Thanks for checking it out!
Merci! 🙏
Tasty!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
bp king!
Lol!
Amazing as always Brett! Question: Can you get Carl Verheyen? That would be legendary!!
Carl is great. Saw him a few times at MI and with his band. Fantastic player. I can see if he would be down next time he is in town.
Yeah, that LP of his “Trading 8s” is great! Robben Ford, Steve Morse, Scott Henderson, etc all make appearances on songs!
R J !
Yes sir! He is awesome!
@@BrettPapa You too my brother
I love the sound of that guitarra. What guitarra it is???
It's a Novo. Forgot the exact model but they are amazing!
Very tasty playing RJ. Interesting looking guitar as well, what is it?
Thanks - it's a Novo Idris
WWBBD. Amen to that!
Lol!
Explain this magic 🙂 1:30
Haha! Keep watching.
These tabs in the course- are there any for left-handed players? Tabs are a big value item.
Yes there are tabs in the course. As far as being for left handed players tabs are just numbers on a string so it doesn't really matter for left or right.
@@BrettPapa With all respect it does really matter since the strings are "upside down". Try it sometime. It's a real pain in the tuchus.
And don’t forget Matt Schofield, another great modern blues guitarist.
For sure. We might try and get him in here as well.
@@BrettPapa And Josh Smith, Jack Pearson, Greg Koch.....
What are the pickups on RJ's guitar?
Not sure hit him up on Insta. He might have talked about it on his UA-cam channel as well.
@@BrettPapa Thanks Brett
Fralin Split Blades , noiseless strat pickups
Oh yeah, everything's gonna work just right home skillet.
Sweet! More RJ coming soon!
Can you get Jack Pearson, pls?? or Greg Koch?
That would be awesome! He is amazing. I don’t think he gets out much anymore.
please make this with Guthrie Govan
I would love to but I think he lives in the UK.
Its so funny how different everybody sees the guitar
Totally!
I see it as a giraffe. 😮 🦒
Don’t forget the mighty inner circle
What's that?
PAPA, why is RJs bridge pickup sound very twangy? When showing the BB boxes his bridge pickup sounds very twangy to get that BB tone. What type of pick ups is RJ guitar using? Jimmie Vaughan also got this very twangy tone out of his bridge pickup but not sure how he does it
I think they are Lollar or Fralin pickups.
@@BrettPapa RJ added a Blender pot for Neck+Bridge to get that twangy tone. I was wondering if those Fralin Split rail pickups were that twangy in the bridge. The Split Rail pickups do have 2 coils sort of like a humbucker to get that BB king twangy tone.
@@waynegram8907 You are correct - I rolled the blender pot on to get neck + bridge. The Fralin Split Blades are "meatier" than regular Strat pickups. I think of them as halfway between Strat at P90s.
@@RJRonquillo Other guitar companies are using RC Resistor Capacitors values with the Bleeder pot to get phase shift BB king tones. Using the 300K volume pot helps with the extra high end. Those Split Blades are 2 coils so its using a dummy coil I think as the 2nd coil or its something other than humbucking two coils.
"thats b.b.?" ... "...sure" hahaha
Lol
Hey Brett. Your lampshade is crooked.
Lol! Kids bump it all the time.
@@BrettPapa Amen Brother. I know the feeling.
Brett, Are you a guitar wench?🤣🤣 You have a new guitar dude every week. 🤣🤣
Lol!
I wish you would take a second to show exactly what you were playing on the rhythm guitar.
Yeah that was a cool little pattern RJ showed me. I'll see if I can make a video on it.
