    I love how supportive and calming you are when offering advice on bake fails. I grew up around perfectionists who picked apart every little mistake others made to the point where they quit cooking or baking or sewing. Perfectionists do not make good teachers. Hmm. If we say "*Most* perfectionists don't make good teachers." then I agree =) I've had horrible experiences, but I've also had really good ones.
      If the person knows to NOT nitpick everything and NOT demand perfection from a beginner - then they can be teachers, and sometimes really good ones. But it also depends on what the "student" is after/how they learn. Some people like constructive criticism, some like to only hear what they did well, some like to just be told the brutal truth - and every degree in between.
      Perfectionists can be supportive and calming - and non-perfectionists can be horrible teachers ;)

    • @giovannirafael5351
      @giovannirafael5351 2 роки тому +14

      @@shadowheartart3898 I don't think anyone wants to be told "the brutal truth" unless you're already very good at something or you are a perfectionist as well. So I'd say perfectionists can make good teachers but usually they're not at all. Honestly perfectionists are not usually even good people to have around you a lot, because they can be really toxic.

      I call it the "Repairman Effect." Equipment that has been malfunctioning all day suddenly starts working when the repair tech arrives. Literally as soon as they leave, it goes back to having the same exact problem. I knew someone who had a machine do this twice in a row. The second time, he was leaving but still in the driveway when it went back to acting up, so he finally was able to fix it.

    • @HillaryDawn1Jn418
      @HillaryDawn1Jn418 2 роки тому +97

      I disagree that using a box mix will make it more likely to fail; they are literally designed by food scientists to be easy for people who aren’t bakers and to come out the same every time.
      Most baking fails I see online are due to a procedure issue or forgetting/ not doing something. Commonly; frosting a cake when it’s still hot which makes the frosting melt off, not using no stick spray or baking powder, not using proper supports, or sometimes just not having the skill set yet to do complex piping of decorations. And other times they are just environmental, like last summer I tried to make no bake cookies and I live in the south of the US they never properly set because of humidity.

    I love the fakt that you explain why you do something the way you do it and also explain how and why it works that way. Not just in the cake fail episodes but in every type of video. It helped me avoid so many tears over the last few years and now I am responsible for all birthday cakes in my close family and friend circle.
    And your explorations also help with proper translation. Which sometimes isn't as easy as typing the ingredient into google translate.
