I tried searching on Steam the game called "The Shivers" because I've seen it before. Apparently, they changed the name to "Demonologist". Shame though, the original name sounded better than this very mainstream new title...
@@corydinsmore1117 Resident Evil is like an arcade game compared to the level of horror RE is man...both are awesome but if I wanna be actually scared, Silent Hill is where it's at.
Yet the art direction still has a long way to go, it's still stuck at the 1999 Blair Witch Project level. We need proper film directors and cinematographers to enter this space and make a truly masterful experience that raises the bar of expectation.
@@johnhouse9983 bruh you're not paying for much for games at all, the prices have stayed at like 60 bucks for decades, if it followed inflation like everything else you'd be paying 140 bucks as the standard price, stop bitching.
Harry Mason is such an underrated Silent Hill protagonist. He wasn't even important in the movies. The very first Silent Hill on the PSX is by far my favorite. If they were to remake that, I'd be over the moon.
You may have noticed that the steam page is down currently. Unfortunately, there is an existing copyright which Steam refuses to allow anything using "The Shivers" related even though there is no such game on the Steam store. Out of all them, Paranormal Tales definitely looks the most realistic and scary. Anything that involves getting lost in the woods with creepy stuff happening is easily the scariest subject matter for me.
The part in the woods was solid . Night in the woods, searching for your dog, a soundscape building up. Cool stuff. What broke the immersion for me there was that the lady in the woods crawled way too fast. I don't get why horror makers, be it games or movies, don't get that too fast means you can't see the actual creepy stuff. After that it was just tropes. Creepy person in the corner, flying screaming witch. Kinda sad the potential got thrown at the wall there.
indeed it looks to be the case. just hope my 3050ti graphics card and Ryzen 7 4800h cpu can hold up (which I doubt it will) if not then I suppose I'll have to hope and pray the ps5 gets most of these releases too. 🙏
@@Userfriendly116 maybe better selection of indie games but in this new gen consoles have better graphics. To run these new games you need new Gpu and couple thousand dollar PC. I spent 500 on a ps5.

PC gaming is truly great, but the older I get the less I care about it. There are other things I'd rather sink money into for a better return investment, especially when I can get a $500 PS5 and run everything at roughly 60fps, 1440p from the comfort of my couch on a 70 inch HDR OLED.
paranormal tales i think will be an amazing experience as long as they do it right. The trailer is already miles ahead of what's currently out there while not going overboard with crazy unachievable graphics. I think it has the potential to be the horror game of 2023.
Luto is a really good game, even if the formula is not something original at all, the execution of the ideas and the map desing is what really stands up.
Not only realistic graphics are needed, but also the ability to generate terror. Not everyone knows how to do it. You can have an extremely realistic game thanks to Unreal 5, but if you don't know how to generate fear in the player, it will simply be another super-realistic generic horror game. That's the case that realistic graphics don't matter as much as the scariest game I played in recent years, which has even been scientifically chosen as the scariest game in history, is MADiSON, a game made in Unity.
not sure how they did it, but they 100% recreated my room/apt from when I was in college. They forget the beer cans and bongs from my roommate(s), but still pretty darn close.
Its crazy how games "back when" when they released trailers like these the graphics felt just as insane at that time as they do now. I wonder what it will be like it 10 years
This is a fantastic list! Thank you so much. The Shivers has been renamed to The Shivers Within - if anyone is having trouble find it **Edit** The name has been updated to Demonologist
I bet ROUTINE is the most anticipated game, trailer came out hella years ago just to get delay like dead island 2 and got ppl hyped with the new trailer
Watching the footage, I thought to myself this looks like Routine - and it was! I loved the concept of this game from the very beginning and now it's coming out. I'm enthralled 🙀
Okay, soooo that LAST one, The Hauntings, looks pretty interesting! I mean, are you basically "ghostbusting" famous "entities" throughout the world from various horror films and the like such as Pennywise from IT (as displayed in the video)? ... because, even if that isn't a triple-A game, the concept is REALLY fantastic! I have been saying that someone should like, do a graphic novel or some type of story like that for some time now! Like, a crossover that Dark Horse comics would produce! I'm very curious to learn more about this one!
Now that many studios are moving to unreal engine these graphics are going to be the standard for ps5, alongside their own top quality studio game engines.
The scariest thing here is the way shaky cam makes it seem the player's character is twerking their hips left and right with each step. Like at a certain point it's overdone.
Jump scares have been and will always be very very cheap. Paranormal Tales and Silent Hill F look like they will hold something to remember for a while. I hope they remaster and revamp The Darkness 2012 with unreal 5. hopefully with none of that cell shading stuff. Great compilation!
Most of these games have too much surface reflection. Everything is wet and reflects. Even true wetness doesnt show so much light and so much texture. It is the biggest immersion breaking element of modern graphics for me. As well as bloom and lens flares.
So ok ultra realistic... But are they 1. any good? (Its rare they are good) 2. Are they NO MULTIPLAYER? ( WE WANT SINGLEPLAYER HORROR WITH FRIGTENED ATMOSPHERE AND HORROR, NO DLCS OR INGAME SHOPS NO STORY THAT EXPANDS INTO RESIDENT EVIL **** OR SOMETHING. JUST GOOD OLD (NEW) PURE SINGLEPLAYER HORROR FOR THE PRIZE BY THE QUALITY.)
An early game get away ending. This eliminates players from saying they play a character. Whom is hopelessly trapped. This promotes players to brave the horrors that await. Not as a means of escape, but as a means of triumph.
I bet Some may die of an heart attack Paranormal Tales is way too realistic My soul left the body for a moment 😂 by jump scares Huge respect to the game developers for creating ultra realistic horror games No
