I love my K1200R. Agree with you on the clunkiness from 1 > 2. But she's an agile beast. And, no pedestrian ever commented on any bike I had prior. Now, I get one or more "that's an awesome ride" a day.
Bike is brilliant, comfortable with a ton of power when you want it but is perfectly happy cruising at 80-100 km/h. My only criticism is the gearbox which is very clunky going into 1st and 2nd but that seems pretty common with BM's.
