Omg the way that substrate was moving during the time lapse was making my skin crawl and I usually like things like this but there's something about cockroaches that bothers me lol
Writing on the box won't help a bit. They don't have the time to read the box and treat it any differently. You just have to pack things properly, and in these case they definitely weren't.
:D well 1st time commenting on the channel but I've watched you for abit and I always love your videos and you're the only person I've watched take care of bugs and continuously want to watch more so Thank you for teaching me showing how to make enclosure and more!
Hey, Petko (hope I spelled that right). I'd deal with the moths. Had a huge moth problem a year ago, I think their eggs came in from the dog food or rabbit food I bought. Once they get really established they are hard as hell to get rid of. Just a suggestion, anyways, been watching you for years and your videos are great. Much love!
It can be very easy, Marissa. Especially if you don’t live in a city. Moths, meal bugs, pill bugs, ants, and other pests can come through doors and windows, let alone if a retailer isn’t aware of an infestation of their own. Not a pest, but for winter ladybugs will flatten themselves and insulate between that paper thin gap in windows. They’re tenacious. They can establish themselves in places before getting to your food and it doesn’t have to take a while. I definitely remember growing up and grabbing a box of cereal that had been open for three days and was mostly full, but was crawling with bugs. Same can happen if you have a flour container.
I wouldn't stress in this case as they are in an enclosure inside his basement, compared to things like roaches or ants moths are very easy to get rid of. Just seal any boxes of food you have and make sure cabinets stay closed
17:22 I knew that package was from Canada as soon as you pulled out the first can. It's my favourite iced tea. :D And you also have Loonies and Toonies, which are the 1 and 2 dollar coins. :D And @18:32, I think those are pieces of beach glass. Way to go, Trevor!! let's hear it for Canada! :D
Try to feed cheeps with a long blunt stick. Put some of the gecko diet on the end, Like a wood skewer. It allows you to maintain your distance from him, and he will start to associate you with good things. Good luck!
Petko, you are an absolute angel. I love your videos and I look forward to them every week. I would love to see you do a video with your wife to see how she reacts to all your animals. And tell Felix that we love him!!
I found out bout a spider anime called "So I'm a spider, so what?" I've been watching clips on the crunchy roll UA-cam channel and it's funny and the main spider protagonist is adorable.
Your attention to detail is extremely appeasing to my OCD. Like a sensory massage. I’ve been following you since the previous Dark Den, when you were getting ready to move I was like “nooooo!” ... why I thought you wouldn’t be able to outdo your last space, I have no idea. Everything you do is a work of art! Sending my love from California 🇺🇸 RIP Cappuccino, hope the little fella is enjoying the next dimension. Because of you Petko he’ll forever be remembered by a bunch of strangers across the globe ♥️
I'm pretty sure when the headlight roaches eat a certain fungi, they actually glow in the dark. I could be mistaken them for a different species of roach, but I think that's how they got the name. The "headlights" on the head can actually glow. You can also feed them a certain diet to make the headlight a different color. Very interesting species. Most ppl consider roaches pest, but out of the 1000s of species that exist, only around 15 are actually pest. They have so many different cool colored roaches
Damn i am early, just thought i would say that your Female GBB needs a name. I think Susan would be a good name because its a similar kind of vibe to linda
Hey dark Den ive founda really cool thing one of my bearded dragon was suffering from a Respiratory infection and ive found a potential cure for it fresh thyme and fresh sage leafs those you can have on your food that is! seems to be a good start ! and i tried giving her baby food made from pureed apples, pears and peaches and they love it ! i use a syringe but for liquids / feeding small pets and they absolutely love it apparently :D even my other bearded dragons loves the baby food which suprised me alot ! they even come and stand in line and cant wait for it :D i just wanted her to gain some weight and get some strenght back and her fluid buildup in her mouth is getting leser and lesser each day and she is become way more active i have a vet thats going to look at her next week but this suprised me alot ! she even stopped gasping for air now and seems to sleep way better ! she dont get to eat alot of thyme but just a couple of leafs and a few leafs of sage sage helps them deal with the fluid buildup and to stop it from clogging up to much and thyme helps them lessen the bacteria and to clear their nose abit more seems to be a good natural way to help with this issue alot of people can have with bearded dragons ! just my take and a tip if you ever have this issue some day =) will post an update for you guys how it goes if you want too :D
With customs I could be wrong but international packages they xray and if they see something suspicious, which varies depending on the person looking lol, they'll inspect it. Ie. Liquids , cylindrical items, etc.
I love the idea of a roach colony to do timelapse videos with. Like a whole apple and see them hollow it out. Also can despacito not eat them? If you wanna use them as feeders i mean.
Look into getting a endoscope for escapee, and picture taking. For less than $30 you can not go wrong, and you might being adding this to your must have equipment.
Headlight roaches their awesome. I'm sure they were very happy with their special meal. They may not have eaten it all in 24hrs but they sure put a good amount of eating work into it. And they look like they sure we're enjoying it I'm not surprised roaches eat just about everything. Video was very interesting to watch. And the roaches are very industrious with their tunnel building it looks awesome. And the roaches look like their enjoying their home I always enjoy your videos Petko. Stay cool. Rock on. Chriss from UK.
Petco: handles 24 hr old cockroach scavenged dead fish, then touches his beard and then potentially goes upstairs and kisses his wife. Ewww. Though at least you'll both have strong immune systems.
I know you don't feed these roaches to your pets but if you did do you think it might cause impaction? They are eating plastic its not harmful to the bug. Mealworms can eat foam to! I wanted to train mealworms to eat my left over foam to help decompose plastics bit then I realized if I did I probably couldn't feed them to my pets. But its interesting to see them thrive off of something with so little nutrition lol
They didn't eat the whole fish because it's not decayed enough or, believe it or not, cooked. It would have gone over better if you'd cooked the fish. People forget that they weirdly have some of the same limitations we do in diet. Also, that is so Trevor. I actually thought that first, but then because it was random, I was thinking it might have been Dayyan. They both like sending brick-a-brack as gifts, like an old grandma. That is an old English phrase for random things of negligible value. When I can send you something, it will be full cans, not empties. Lol.
You need a massive massive Colony for that to happen in my hometown there's a lake where fish sometimes Beach themselves and there's a colony of roaches that are in tens of thousands and eat fish like that in 12 hrs so get smaller pray
How many roaches does it take to change a lightbulb?
Nobody knows. Once it turns on, they all scatter
This is... how do you come up with these
Bug's Life reference?
@Kim Jong-un What are you doing here? Weren't you going to eat a whole pack of cheese.

Your vids are never “underwhelming”. Always entertaining, informative and fun.

I really like the skull in this enclosure 💀👀😍
I love the use of Tarantula Kat's skull.

Leaving a fish carcass overnight in the enclosure?

I feel the moths would at least make a nice little trash-food snack for a tiny jumper or baby spoider. Num num.
Peace Tea is super good, snoberry is my favorite. Ultra Paradise monster is also one of my favorites right next to Ultra Rosa
I suspect that next week every enclosure will have a plastic skull.
As I work with fish professionally I've seen plenty of videos of people cutting off filets, but I certainly didn't expect it in a dark den video :P
Although you get minus points for not showing how to cut the rib bones off the filet! xD
Definetly an interesting vid to watch... Creepy watching the entire substrate "pulsating" lol

Were those gummy spiders n that box?

I have my dubia set up as a bioactive, kind of, that is really awesome.
