This song is so special. There are different types of soul mates and often people have soul contacts to produce something beautiful for the world. Paul and John had that special connection and it will never die. Watching the release of the Get Back footage and watching the two of them do this together broke my heart. They loved each other and gave this world the greatest song writing collaboration of revolutionary music and that will last forever even after so many years. One day Paul will leave this earth and get back home to his beloved friend and of course his Linda.

Just imagine these lyrics may have crossed Paul's mind while he and John were smoking and dreaming of their future, sheltered from rain, in Hamburg, on the verge of their triumphant return home to Liverpool. So young, so few years together, yet they must have already lived over a hundred lifetimes together.

Paul typically switches to John's part for Two of Us and many other vocals of Beatles tunes that he performs these days, such as Please, Please Me. He used to sing the higher harmonies but now he lets Rusty & Brian try to handle those higher harmonies and he sings the melodies that John used to sing.

    • @alandonkin
      @alandonkin 8 років тому

+myndchanger fumblesmcstupid I am not sure about that. Macca has always said it was about Linda. It is hard to tell really, because there are bootleg early versions of the song - and of course, we can all hear earlier electric versions in the "Let It Be" film. I wonder whether some of the ideas subconsciously hark back to some of Paul's teenage road trips with George. It is a lovely song anyway - and there is nothing wrong with this version!

    • @bathtangle
      @bathtangle 8 років тому +5

+Alan Moorhouse The song was written way before Linda. Paul said it was about her because he was pissed at John. That's why John sat on the floor and harmonized right back at him in the video. Paul always put a spin on everything.

    Two of Us
    The Beatles
    Two of us riding nowhere
    Spending someone's
    Hard earned pay
    Two of us Sunday driving
    Not arriving
    On our way back home
    We're on our way home
    We're on our way home
    We're going home
    Two of us sending postcards
    Writing letters
    On my wall
    You and me burning matches
    Lifting latches
    On our way back home
    We're on our way home
    We're on our way home
    We're going home
    You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead
    Two of us wearing raincoats
    Standing so low
    In the sun
    You and me chasing paper
    Getting nowhere
    On our way back home
    We're on our way home
    We're on our way home
    We're going home

John met Paul in 1957 and they went there separate ways in 1969 (and still saw each other every once in awhile up until Lennons death in 1980) 1957-1969 is 12 years. 1969-1980 is 11 years. Meaning the line "You and I have memories longer than the road that stretches out ahead" is true.

I was commenting on the quality of his voice which sounds strained here by his standards. But in fact his pitch could use some "auto-tune" as well. I can only notice both because when his voice is really on its fantastic. The fact that his voice has held up as well as it has at his age is remarkable. The comment was made with no intention of disrespect, which I have undyingly with regards to Paul. He's just mortal and subject to the ravages of age.

Isn't this so much better than say the prospect of nuclear annihilation. Let music bring us together.😄

    "I dig a Pygmy,
By Charles Hawtrey and the deaf aids.
    "I dig a Pygmy"입니다
Phase 1 in which Doris gets her oats."
    Two of us, riding nowhere,
    Spending someone's hard-earned pay.
    You and me, sunday driving,
Not arriving on our way back home.
    We're on our way home,
    We're going home.
    Two of us, sending postcards,
    Writing letters, on my wall.
    You and me, burning matches,
Lifting latches on our way back home.
    You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead.
    Two of us, wearing raincoats,
    Standing solo, in the sun.
    You and me, chasing paper,
Getting nowhere on our way back home.
    Two of us, wearing raincoats,
    Standing solo, in the sun.
    You and me, chasing paper,
Getting nowhere on our way back home.
    Better believe it!
    Good-bye.

must be awesome to have such a huge and wide variety of songs under your belt. it seems like whenever he plays the beginning of any song people get excited. You'd think eventually they'd figure out, all his songs are good (sans post mid 70s)
