when you pray the rosary you are supposed to meditate on the Life of Christ. if you were just saying the prayers without meditating then you were not praying correctly. Try again, start with the annunciation, the visitation, the Birth of Christ, the presentation, the finding of the Lord in the Temple, the Agony in the Garden, the scourging, the crowning with thorns, the carrying of the cross, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection, the Ascension, the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the Assumption, the Coronation, the baptism of the Lord, the wedding at cana, the proclamation of the Kingdom, the Transfiguration, the institution of the Eucharist. these meditations will bring you closer to the Lord and the saints. the prayers are said to keep your mind off earthly things. Mary is your mother, read John 19:17. the protestants are running away from the truth. do not let the devil confuse you, come back to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic church, the Roman Catholic Church, the church that Christ left us in Matthew 16:18 - you are Peter and on this rock I will build My Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

I’m an ex-evangelical who also saw Marian devotion like you. Leaving Jesus out of Marian devotion takes away the heart of it. Marian devotion is nothing without our Lord Jesus Christ. Within the womb of Our Lady, Christ was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Veneration of Mary is worship of the Lord God who used Mary as one of the vessels of grace. Mary is pointing us towards Christ and Christ towards God the Father to whom He is also the only way and entrance.
However, you cannot get to the entrance without a path leading to it. This path that leads to the entrance point is paved with many stones, some bigger and some smaller. These guide us to the entrance which is Jesus Christ.
One of these stones is Mary. The others are other Saints, many from the Old and many from the New Covenant. However, they all point towards Christ.
Veneration of Saints is therefore showing gratitude to God for these Saints. Without God using these Saints, we wouldn’t have the deposit of faith we have today. Because of them, we can now call ourselves Christian and thank God for it.

The more religious a person is the harder they are to save.
It is easier to deceive a man than to convince him that he has been deceived.
When trying to reach those who are in the man-made works-based religions please realize why they cling so firm to their religion:
Realizing you are lost is a hard pill to swallow. It also feels terrible to realize you've been lied to and deceived by your religion. It's a similar feeling as being robbed. So it's easier to reject the Truth and instead hold onto pride and your religion than to face this.
Since these man-made works-based religions are usually several generation deep, coming to the Truth about your own lost soul also means facing the grim reality that your parents, grandparents and many others are also lost and many even died in their sins and it's too late now. That is an extremely tough Truth to swallow so again they cling desperately to their religion and reject the Truth.
In the end it doesn't matter what Jesus said and the Word of God, we want our man-made religion and the god of it. It makes sense to the natural man that he can earn his way to God.
So please keep that in mind when trying to reach these lost religious people. They are Spiritually Dead in trespasses and sin just as we once were and only the Spirit of God can reprove/convict them of sin, righteousness and judgement to turn on the light bulb of Truth to their real need and draw them to Him. Start with prayer and continue praying every step of the way.

I'm a former Roman Catholic (went to Catholic schools run by Irish Christian Brothers) and I encourage all honest Catholics who believe their church gets all of its beliefs from the Bible to Google "List of Catholic Heresies and Human Traditions" which shows clearly where many of the church's beliefs came from and they weren't from the Word of God.
In fact, most of Catholic tradition, which the church maintains is of equal value to the Bible, is actually in opposition to what the Bible teaches. Go ahead read it and make up your own mind. I pray that your eyes will be opened.

Jesus Christ our great and kind God and savior, built His Church on Peter the rock way before the new testament was even written. The same Church authority in Peter that stood up and put an end to all the debating at the council in Jerusalem since Scripture alone could not, and that later determined which of the over 75 letters written were to be included in the new testament and which were not. The Catholic Church that Jesus Christ established does not worship Mary as being God, that is reserved for Jesus Christ and His Eternal Father and Spirit alone, yet, the Catholic Church does give Mary special reverence, as did the Jews with the ark of the covenant of old, as seen in Elizabeth, who proclaimed, "Who am I that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?", (Luke 1:43, 2 Samuel 6:9), as all generations shall call Mary blessed. You are in my prayers! God bless you!

As a devout Jew, Jesus adhered to the commandment to "honor thy father and mother," demonstrating respect and honor toward His biological mother, Mary. So, how are we to understand the incident recorded in Luke 11:27-28?
“As Jesus was speaking, a woman in the crowd called out, 'Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.' He replied, 'Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.'”
Jesus used this moment to impart a broader spiritual lesson about discipleship and the kingdom of God. While He acknowledged the significance of His biological mother, He emphasized that true kinship with Him is founded on faith and obedience to God, rather than merely on biological ties. Thus, rather than distancing Himself from His mother, Jesus redefined the concept of family within the context of discipleship and the kingdom of God, extending it to include all who faithfully follow Him.
Ironically, while many people try to interpret this incident in a way that minimizes Mary, they overlook that Mary is both Jesus' biological mother and a member of His spiritual family. Mary is doubly blessed!

Um, no. You have all of that scripture messed up. Cannibalism is forbidden. The Last Supper is not a literal feeding of Jesus. And no where in scripture is this cannibalism supported. There is a lot more about communion that the Catholic Church ignores, unfortunately.
There is also NO scripture whatsoever that will say that John saw Mary in Heaven. Revelation 12 is speaking if Israel. Chapter 6 says that she fled into the wilderness. Since when is there a wilderness in Heaven? And why would she to be nourished in heaven for 1260 days by God? This makes no sense. There isn’t and she wouldn’t. This was Israel who is protected by God during the tribulation. It’s God’s Holy Land being spoken about, not Mary. Revelation is about the end, not what has already happened. Three other women appeared too but these women are Jezebel who represents paganism, the scarlet woman who represents the apostate church and the wife of the Lamb representing the true church. What are Jezebel and the scarlet woman doing in heaven? There is no way they were actually there any more than Mary could have been. This was a gross assumption and misrepresentation of God’s Word. But since the Catholic Church has no problem with this or disobeying the commandment of Revelation 22:18, then why would truth matter?
You Catholics really need to start doing your own research outside of your in church teachings. You continue to repeat what you’re taught instead of reading the Bible for yourselves which I know you’re not allowed to do except the erroneous Catholic version written by abusing Revelation 22:18.
Any church that tells you to not open your Bible and see for yourself that what you’re being taught is truth, ask questions, even argue about it without consequences, is no church at all.
I got all of my information from John MacArthur’s study Bible.
If this noncatholic version is blasphemy to you, then read it fir yourselves and prove me wrong. You can’t get truth by only listening to your priest. He is in need of salvation too, remember.

I remember telling the person who told me the gospel, "I'm confused concerning Mary" and his response was, "ask your Father who is in heaven. You are His child now". (This was days after i believed the gospel)
Well i did what he told me to do. I had ask My Father who was in heaven concerning Mary, and His response was so simple . . . "This is my beloved Son , in whom I am well pleased. Listen and follow Him".. And i was quick to renounce and repent all of my catholic ways.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who redeems His people and sets them on the Rock of eternal life. Blessed is Him indeed!
And i started realizing the error in the catholic church . . . from idols to confessions to all of these traditions of man.
I found out the Mary cannot save me. She can't do nothing for me. I also found out that she did not stayed a virgin

And at every Mass it goes through Jesus life at every Mass we say the Lords prayer as Jesus taught us at Every Mass we remember the last supper and Jesus death on the cross at every Mass the Bread and Wine became His body and blood. As Jesus said this is my Body not that it represents his body but that it is his body. Read your Bible you will see after Jesus rose from the dead he breathed in the Apostles 1st priests and said receive the Holy spirit who's sins you forgive are forgiven who's sins you retain are retained. Remember Jesus gave Peter the authority to bind and lose. So you walked away from the church started by Christ who gave authority to peter

Teraise Weeravong Yes, the four gospel accounts are read during mass, but this is not THE gospel message. THE gospel is defined in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 “Now I would remind you, brothers, of the GOSPEL I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you-unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures”
So the gospel is that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised for our salvation. The four gospels that are read during mass are called gospels because they are the written accounts of Christ’s work on our behalf for our salvation. Catholics recite these books during mass, but do not have a proper understanding of what they were all about.

Sandina 2cents I’m a Lutheran here so I will give my “2 cents” on this ;) No one understood Jesus to be literally saying take a fork and eat his literal dead body and bring a cup and collect his blood and drink it. However, we do affirm that Christ meant what he said, and mysteriously gives us his true body and blood in the Eucharist. It is a means of grace in which we receive the benefits of his work on the cross. We don’t call it anything like transubstantiation though, since it is still referred to as bread and wine, body and blood. And we don’t try to explain it in general, but just accept this mystery since He said “this IS my body”

For He established His Church (the peoples), and even changed His enemies into friends (v. 6). They don't think I'm a heretic for being Baptist. They also said they pray directly to God all the time. We definitely have differences in doctrine and beliefs, but when it comes to salvation and what someone should do to be saved, we're on the same page and I absolutely believe they're saved. Perhaps this is a positive direction for the Catholic church, if this message is starting to spread. The perpetual virginity of Mary is not Biblical, the brothers and sisters spoke of in the Gospels are not "cousins", there was a different word for that used for his cousin John the Baptist.
Mary was not only not born without sin, but proclaims in Luke the Jesus is "my savior."
Baptism always meant full body submersion and for adults. There is no Biblical foundation that babies need this "sacrament" to be saved. In fact, baptism by itself even in the NT is not a necessity for salvation. In one case a man and his entire family are saved prior to being baptized.
Purgatory is an invention by the Roman church to extort money by convincing followers they could literally pay to get their loved ones out of hell. Pretty sick.
Paul says that if you add to Grace it ceases to be Grace. And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace. Romans 11:16. And For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8.
There are many others, but I will leave it with a few to think about.
The problem we have when we are young esp. is that our religion becomes our identity. It can be difficult to understand that it is not our identity. Until that happens you will be reluctant to let it go and follow the truth.

      Hi,
The rosary is beautiful if used correctly.
I come from a Baptist church but have a rosary. I love the Catholic Church.
      Mary is Jesus mother.
she said all nations would rise up and call me blessed. Mary is special she was full of grace according to scripture
Jesus said to John on thd cross, behold your mother.
      I contemplate on the mysteries.
I give my rosary to Jesus.
I have no problem with saying Hail Mary full of grace as Elizabeth filled with the Holy spirit said this.
I see Mary as a symbol of God's bride.
      Jerusalem. His beloved.
I don't pray to her I only pray to Jesus.
The reason my view turned was when I was in a house performing an exorcism.
The evil spirit didn't Want to leave.
I felt the Holy spirit say ask my Mum for help.
I didn't understand this but just said Hail Mary full of grace, that demon fled.
      My advice to you.
Jesus is the way Mary is not.
But God's ways are not our ways.
Another time I at a breakfast club and there was a golden picture of Mary on the bring and buy stall.
Jesus clearly told me to buy it.
I protested but bought the picture.
Ordered my breakfast with this hideous picture and people were joking about why I bought it at the breakfast club.
They all looked at the picture then ask me what ai believed in.
people stood around my table as I witnessed to them about Mary being Jesus mother and how Jesus died for our sins and how only through her son Jesus we are saved from our sins.
Needless to say God moved that day.
I can't explain it, just know it's Thy will be done not mine.
Jesus will never leave you not forsake you.
      Hold tight to him
      xxxxx

If you believe you can get into heaven through your works, then there’s no need for Jesus. We tried to get in by our works, we FAILED. Jesus came to die for us. Also that point on Mary at 26:10 spot on. Also I see Chatholics praising Mary more then praising Jesus. I have seen chatohlics come to my church and during our praise and worship time they sat down in their seats and did not utter a word. If I was invited to a church and we were praising Jesus Christ our lord and savior, you better believe I will be clapping singing as an expression of praise. That was a big red flag for me. Jesus intercedes for us not Mary. Y’all scared of the source?

"If you believe you can get into heaven through your works, then there’s no need for Jesus. We tried to get in by our works, we FAILED." That's a straw man argument. The position of the Catholic Church is, in short, works AND faith. This is backed by scripture. James 2:17, "So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead." James 2:24, "See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone."
"Also I see Chatholics praising Mary more then praising Jesus." That's a personal anecdote that doesn't reflect the teaching of the Church. You should obviously value and love Jesus more, Catholics (and anyone) who worships Mary is sinning against the Catholic Church's position. But praying to Mary isn't the same as worship.
"I have seen chatohlics come to my church and during our praise and worship time they sat down in their seats and did not utter a word. If I was invited to a church and we were praising Jesus Christ our lord and savior, you better believe I will be clapping singing as an expression of praise. That was a big red flag for me." One's love or lack thereof for praise and worship is a matter of taste and not a reflection of faith. Catholic worship in general is far more solemn and more ancient being thousands of years old and praise and worship is an invention that's less than a century old so judging people's faith by their participation in praise and worship makes no sense.

Taken from Scott Hahn's conversion story -
First, I began to pray a rosary. I was very scared to do this. I asked the Lord not to be offended as I tried. I proceeded to pray, and as I prayed I felt more in my heart what I came to know in my mind: I am a child of God. I don't just have God as my Father and Christ as my brother; I have His Mother for my own.
A friend of mine who had heard I was thinking about the Catholic Church called up one day and said: "Do you worship Mary like those Catholics do?" I said, "They don't worship Mary; they honor Mary." "Well, what's the difference?" I said, "Let me explain. When Christ accepted the call from His Father to become a man, He accepted the responsibility to obey the law, the moral law which is summarized in the Ten Commandments. There's a commandment which reads, 'Honor your father and mother.'" I said, "Chris, in the original Hebrew, that word "honor," kaboda, that Hebrew word means to glorify, to bestow whatever glory and honor you have upon your father and mother. Christ fulfilled that law more perfectly than any human by bestowing His glory upon His heavenly Father and by taking His own divine glory and honoring His Mother with it. All we do in the rosary, Chris, is to imitate Christ who honors His Mother with His own glory. We honor her with Christ's glory."

    • @Faith_Plus_One
      @Faith_Plus_One 5 років тому +1

Christ didn't "accept" it, it was His role from the beginning.
Same way you "honor" Mary (btw, that's not Mary that's depicted, it is Ishtar - Nimrod's wife with little Tammuz (pagan messiah), if you want to know more about Madonna and the child, investigate Babylon mystery religion, and Dagon - "god of sea")... so, the same way you honor her, by logic you should honor many saints which is polytheism at his best.
P.S. you have phallic symbol that symbolizes phallus that is thrusting through woman reproductive system for picture. That symbolizes mixing Angelic seed with woman (on Satan's urging), and birth of the Nephilim because of which the great flood eventually happened in the first place. Read book of Enoch for more information, and Bible - the Word of God, ofc.
May the blessings of our Father be upon you and your family in the name of Jesus which is called Christ.

The catholic church is simply the first Christian church created by the apostle Peter. The church does not teach to worship any idol. Only Jesus. A painting or a statue of Jesus is not creating an idol and people are not forbidden to do so. You aren't meant to worship art. You're meant to worship Jesus. The verse you are referring to is of the old testament before the word of God became flesh. Once he became flesh as Jesus the Gospel of John speaks of the image if the Lord. There are many things of the old testament that we do not go by now brother. Jesus wants to you be with him. To live with him. You are a temple of the Holy spirit and its flame will grow as you get closer to the Lord. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life." As long as you accept that and live in the way of Jesus, you can be saved. Christianity has many churches. It began with the catholic church then broke off to the Lutheran church then the protestant church, the Anglican church and so on. Today there are many. But what you must see is that the faith of Jesus and your relationship with him is what really matters. If I praised and worshipped God in a catholic church that's fine. If I did in a Baptist church, that would also be fine or a non-denominational church. As long as I am worshipping, praising and living in the way of the Lord Jesus, that's what matters. Now all men are men. No one is perfect. Preachers can be wrong. Priests can be wrong. Pastors can be wrong. It is your duty to read the bible for yourself and see the truth. @MillionthUsername and that's called idolatry.
The phrase queen of heaven appears in two passages of the Bible, both in the book of Jeremiah. The first passage deals with the things the Israelites were doing that provoked the Lord to anger. Entire families were involved in idolatry. The children gathered wood, and the men used it to build altars to worship false gods. The women were engaged in kneading dough and baking cakes of bread for the “Queen of Heaven” (Jeremiah 7:18). This title referred to Ishtar, an Assyrian and Babylonian goddess also called Ashtoreth and Astarte by various other groups. She was thought to be the wife of the false god Baal, also known as Molech. The motivation of women to worship Ashtoreth stemmed from her reputation as a fertility goddess, and, as the bearing of children was greatly desired among women of that era, worship of this “queen of heaven” was rampant among pagan civilizations. Sadly, it became popular among the Israelites as well.
The second passage that refers to the queen of heaven is Jeremiah 44:17-25, where Jeremiah is giving the people the word of the Lord which God has spoken to him. He reminds the people that their disobedience and idolatry has caused the Lord to be very angry with them and to punish them with calamity. Jeremiah warns them that greater punishments await if they do not repent. They reply that they have no intentions of giving up their worship of idols, promising to continue pouring out drink offerings to the queen of heaven, Ashtoreth, and even going so far as to credit her with the peace and prosperity they once enjoyed because of God’s grace and mercy.
It is unclear where the idea that Ashtoreth was a “consort” of Yahweh originated, but it’s easy to see how the blending of paganism that exalts a goddess with the worship of the true King of heaven, Yahweh, can lead to the combining of God and Ashtoreth. And since Ashtoreth worship involved sexuality (fertility rites and temple prostitution), the resulting relationship, to the depraved mind, would naturally be one of a sexual nature. Clearly, the idea of the “queen of heaven” as the consort or paramour of the King of heaven is idolatrous and unbiblical.
There is no queen of heaven. There has never been a queen of heaven. There is most certainly a King of Heaven, the Lord of hosts. He alone rules in heaven. He does not share His rule or His throne or His authority with anyone. The idea that Mary, the mother of Jesus, is the queen of heaven has no scriptural basis whatsoever. Instead, the idea of Mary as the queen of heaven stems from proclamations of priests and popes of the Roman Catholic Church. While Mary was certainly a godly young woman greatly blessed in that she was chosen to bear the Savior of the world, she was not in any way divine, nor was she sinless, nor is she to be worshiped, revered, venerated, or prayed to. All followers of the Lord God refuse to be worshiped. Peter and the apostles refused to be worshiped (Acts 10:25-26; 14:13-14). The holy angels refuse to be worshiped (Revelation 19:10; 22:9). The response is always the same: “Worship God!” To offer worship, reverence, or veneration to anyone but God is nothing short of idolatry. Mary’s own words in her “Magnificat” (Luke 1:46-55) reveal that she never thought of herself as “immaculate” or deserving of veneration; on the contrary, she was relying on the grace of God for salvation: “And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” Only sinners need a savior, and Mary recognized that need in herself.
Furthermore, Jesus Himself issued a mild rebuke to a woman who cried out to Him, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you" (Luke 11:27), replying to her, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it." By doing so, He curtailed any tendency to elevate Mary as an object of worship. He could certainly have said, “Yes, blessed be the Queen of Heaven!” But He did not. He was affirming the same truth that the Bible affirms-there is no queen of heaven, and the only biblical references to the “queen of heaven” refer to the goddess of an idolatrous, false religion.

Still, if your mind becomes anxious and you feel scared, call aloud “In the name of Jesus I bind all that might want to cause me harm. This very same Catholic Church never considered Mary as a divinity, but as the Ark of the New Covenant, that is she plays the same role that the Ark of the old Covenant played with the Jews: that is something sacred containing the Word of God, so that Mary can be defined as the holy container of the Word, so that through the Virgin Mary we have access to the Logos (the Word) who is eternally proceeding from the Father and which was made flesh in her womb.

Anyone who lives by faith in Christ will live as Christ and follow His example which included works. All works point to their origination in God who GiVES the grace needed to do works. So again you as most ignorant Protestants love to spread false rumors about Catholic teaching. I am Catholic and I know what Catholic Church teaches. First of all to worship Mary is idolatry and the church teaches this. To God alone is worship due. We honor her as the mother of Jesus. We do not worship saints again worship belongs to God alone! Saints are held up as examples of lives well lived their lives always point to God who gave them the grace to live holy lives. No the priest does not forgive sin Christ forgives sin. Any idiot knows this. Even a priest knows this. Again another fallacy. No the church does not make saints God makes saints. Excommunication is not sending someone to hell it just means that they can not receive the sacraments. The Pope is only infallible on doctrines of faith and morals. But he is as vulnerable to mistakes as any other person. We are Not allowed to worship saints. Mary , or anything else unlike Protestants who have set up the Bible as their idol. They worship a book that can not even interpret it self. Christ did not tell the apostles to write a book but to build a church. So you worship a book instead of God. There’s a difference in faith and works we all need to grasp. It is Faith Alone as Luther summarized many scriptures. So then real faith produces works. There is a fundamental difference in the heart if we don’t get this right. If we work to earn our salvation then we live in fear. If we work out of thankfulness (knowing we are His and we did not earn it) then we begin to live and love like Jesus said. Jesus brother said faith without works is dead. The word "whatever" is an absolute. There is no qualification to the authority our Lord gave the church he established. That historical church that came down through the apostles is the Catholic Church.
Our Lord Jesus is in charge and he identifies so completely with his church to the point that he said that those that reject the church reject him.
Jesus has complete trust in the church so that when the apostles and their disciples wrote the gospels and epistles these are considered the word of God himself.
The New Testament is the word of God because it is the word of the church as Jesus did not write anything that survived.
The Catholic Church is the historical church that Jesus established and came down through the apostles. It does have a checkered history with failures, sins, and crimes going to the top of it's hierarchy. But Jesus promised that the gates of hell will not prevail. The church also has a history of great saints and heroes, imperfect and sinful but doing their best to advance the Kingdom of God to the world.
Protestants defied and rejected the church thereby also rejecting the Lord. They usurped the Bible the church compiled and created their own rival churches. They brought confusion and division, and dismembered to the body of believers. This compromises and endagers the work of the Kingdom.
Protestants set themselves as their own authority, claiming the Bible alone is their authority but violating its precepts against divisions.
The solution to poorly educated Catholics is better catechism and evangelization, not abandonment of the only church Jesus established and guardian its sacraments.

Scripture was good for the Bereans but it was not good enough. Otherwise it would read that when the disciples came to the Bereans, the Bereans would have said "We all know about Jesus, we read it in the Bible on our own."
But that is not what Scripture shows. What it shows is the disciples explaining to the Bereans how Jesus fulfills the prophecies in Scripture and the Bereans followed along and accepted teachings of the Church.
Read it again. The passage proves the Catholic position that it is by both the Church and Scripture together that we come to know Jesus.
You cannot show the historicity of the Bible outside the historicity of the church which goes all the way to the apostles. The historical record is out there.
Protestants are able to divorce themselves from the Church because the Bible which the Church put together and canonized has already existed for over a thousand years by the time of Lutger. But Protestants still cannot come together to form a unified belief because they are their own authority but say it is the Bible.
You want proof from Scripture, first show me where it states that Scripture is the only authority. Even if it were shown to you, you will not believe Scripture because it would not fit your own authority.
If you honestly wanted the truth you would consider all the information. Instead you set up barriers even on Scripture. Yes, Mathew 16:18 shows Jesus establishing his Church on Peter along with other verses.
Unlike Protestants who establish doctrine on a single truncated verse from Scripture taken out of context, the Catholic Church considers all of Scripture together along with the experience of the Jewish people and the apostolic church.
The Pharisees demanded proof from Jesus but still rejected him. At least the Bereans listened to the Church.
I invite you to start looking at all the historical proofs with an open mind and sincere desire for truth.
Christianity has too many enemies and our own divisions impede the work of the Gospel.

When you get to know the family of your significant other and here all of the ways in which they have shown love and comfort in times of trial you end up having a deeper connection with your significant other. Getting to know the saints and Mary and having great respect for them is not an end- all of their lives lead to the LORD. “My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!” Luke 1: 49 I think.

Steven Gumera I was catholic for 31 years and went to a catholic school as a boy. We ALL prayed to saints and to Mary. Never did we receive explicit instruction regarding the direction of our prayers. When a schoolboy goes forward to light a candle and pray beneath a statue of Mary, what do you think happens in his heart? He prays to a statue! The book of Hebrews says, “For by one sacrifice, he has perfected forever those who are being saved.” And again in Hebrews 9:28, “...Christ was offered ONCE for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of the people.” But your religion sacrifices Christ at every mass in every church all over the world, “bringing him to an open shame.” Hebrews 6). And you do this directly under the nose of a graven image, an image that God forbids you to make. Furthermore, by your membership with the RCC you are guilty of the horrible despair brought on many wives whose husbands have been granted annulments by the hierarchy making them feel like adulteresses and causing their children to feel illegitimate. “God hates putting away.” I’m speaking the truth in love here by saying that your religion is a total disgrace, And you sir, by supporting it will be held accountable for the Spanish Inquisition. You will be held accountable for the millions of bible believing Christ seekers who were slain in torture chambers and burned at the stake. You sir, will be held accountable for the false doctrine of purgatory which causes many to minimize the urgency of eternal life to their own peril. You also, will give an answer to God for the doctrine of Celibacy, which has drawn many homosexuals to a spiritual position of authority and leadership which they should never occupy. You should tremble in fear at the Bible. The devils do! Listen to the words of Christ when He says, “Come out of her my children, be ye not partakers of her sins.” When I repented of a sinful life and believed what the scripture says about the God-manJesus, I was truly born again and was made into a new creature. I’ve felt the unspeakable joy that “passes all understanding.” Steven, the only real thing I felt in a Catholic Church was the sting of a nun’s ruler on the back of my hand.

@@godslittleman5451 Well, you had a misconception of the Catholic Church for 31 years. We ask the saints and Mary to intercede for us on our behalf to our Lord and Savior (1 Timothy 2:1). If you are aware of *the litany of the saints prayer*, it always ends with "pray for us" and the ending of the Hail Mary is "pray for us sinners now and at the our of our death". And if you were truly catholic, you would know that nowhere in the catechism that states catholics are to worship saints.
We don't pray directly to statues, the images represent the person we are asking to intercede on our behalf. In fact the Bible does not forbid the use of images and statues. The context of exodus 20:4 is is to not have *images of other gods* but catholics don't believe that saints are gods or goddesses! We believe that saints in heaven are our fellow brothers and sisters who died for the faith and that we can go to them for help such as asking them to pray for us. When we look at bible verses such as (Numbers 21:8-9) God commanded Moses to make a statue of a serpent and however looks at it will live. One had to look at the bronze serpent to be healed which shows images could be used ritually. Also in (Exodus 25:18-20) two statues of gold angels were to be made. So is there anything wrong with having statues? No it doesn't. It is when people start to think of the image as a deity where it becomes a problem. But never once did I read or hear the Catholic Church teach that saints are gods.
Yes, we believe that Christ was offered once and for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of the world. However Mike, we can also agree that Jesus is fully divine, true God and true Man. As true God, in his nature, he is outside of time. Jesus is called "a priest for ever" (Hebrews 5:6) Not for 6 hours on the cross only. John refers to Jesus although in Heaven as a lamb being slain (Revelation 5:6) In this divine sense, the one crucifixion is "Eternally present" and supernaturally "brought to us" There is no new slaying or a "re-sacrifice" of Jesus during the mass. We catholics participate only in that one sacrifice that christ did for us on the cross.
Now about the Spanish Inquisition that you mentioned is a protestant myth and shows you're ignorance. You sir have no idea of the history behind it. To say that millions of people were killed and burned at stake during the catholic inquisition shows your lack of knowledge. According to the new world encyclopedia, "between 3000 to 5000 people died during the Inquisition's 350 years." 3000 people over 350 years = to about 8 people a year. and 5000 people over 350 years = to about 14 people a year. Also there are multiple historians that debunk your claim that millions were killed. Such as Henry Kamen, who wrote book about the inquisition, "The Spanish Inquisition" A historical revision" after analyzing the data from parts of Spain he says quote in pg 203, "during the 16th to the 17th century fewer than 3 people a year were executed by the inquisition." I also have to point out the fact that the inquisition itself didn't put anyone to death, it was the secular authorities who did it. We can also agree Mike that we can't deny the fact that people were killed during the inquisition, the church is made up of saints and sinners, good and bad people. Christ said there would be wolves among the church (acts 20:29) The church has people that made mistakes and we can argue that they were indeed horrible people. But however let us not ignore the fact that there are also catholics throughout history that did things that were good. I find it also ignorant that you put catholics in 1 box to think that we are all responsible and accountable for the death that took place during the inquisition.

    • @godslittleman5451

Steven Gumera read the historical account of the Spanish Inquisition found in the encyclopedia Britanicca. You will find an unbiased account of what truly happened at that time, and how th pope issued those bulls. Read also the history of the Mexican people and how they were conquered and forced to convert to Catholicism. Read about Cinco De Mayo. Why do Catholics fail to be honest about their lurid history and refuse to repent of it. You ask why I make you accountable for it? Because Jesus did the same thing to the religious Pharisees who were of their father the devil. Luke 11:50 ,....”this generation will be held responsible for the murder of all God’s prophets from the creation of the world” Have you visited Mexico Steven? And what did you see but lavish monumental churches built with the sweat and blood of the people it conquered, who consequently, barely have a roof over their head. Poverty is everywhere except in those colossal monuments. Read all that Chapter inLuke. How will you atone for all the property the RCC confiscated from hardworking men and women down through the ages. Not to mention, the fortune that was stored up as a result of the ghastly doctrine of indulgences. Pay the priest today for the sins you will commit tomorrow. You may be able to bury your head in the sand and listen to your catholic fathers make apologetics for these things but it doesn’t represent truth and you know it. Those arguments you lodged petitioning the veneration of statues are not genuine. Here is the 2nd Commandment found in Exodus 20, “ You shall not MAKE for yourself a graven image, nor a likeness of anything that is in heaven above or on earth below,...”. Mary, the saints, Jesus are all in heaven and you approve of worshipping in places where there are statues made of them. BTW that quote is from the Catholic Bible. Also, any person would realize the only acceptable exception to this rule is God himself charging them with the task. And what of your own Catholic scholars saying that it’s possible that no infants were baptized in the new-testament? And yet your Catechism and the cannons of the Counsel of Trent say that infant baptism is equal and the same as being “Born Again?” I can assure you sir, they are dead wrong. And I say “Dead Wrong” being facetious because they were spiritually dead when they concocted such a ruse. For no person who is born again into the kingdom of God would ever agree with this poo-poo. And lastly, I will quote the 1st Cannon of Trent for you as it pertains to the sacrifice of Christ in the mass. “If anyone sayeth, that in the mass a true and proper sacrifice is not offered to God; or, that to be offered is nothing else but that Christ is given us to eat: let him be anathema” (cursed) Also the entire doctrine of the Mass is a whopper of a literal misinterpretation of John chapter 6. “Lest you eat of my flesh and drink of my blood, you have no life in you.” First of all, God always gives us an opportunity to obey. Jesus, being in his body, made that statement impossible to obey. The apostles, if they understood at all, took his statement symbolically. And here again at the last supper when he passed out the elements, he said, “Take, eat, for this is my body ,....etc. It was symbolic. We have no evidence whatsoever in the rest of the New Testament that Christians were literally eating his body and drinking his blood, nor is their any instruction given of how it is to be prepared, something we see vividly in the divine direction given by God to the Jews preparing their first Passover meal. God loves you Steven, you must repent of these things.

@@stevo1n1 Steven, asking the "saints" to intercede for you is wrong, because they are dead. They can't be asked for help. We ARE to ask our brothers and sisters (the Bible calls all believers saints) for prayer and are to pray with one another. But people that are dead, are not omnipresent, and there's no Biblical reason why you should expect to be heard by any of them. There just isn't. And the Bible says that JESUS is our intercessor (Hebrews 7:25 "Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them."
1 Timothy 2:1 is saying that we should pray for people that are alive, not that we should pray to people that are dead.
Exodus 20:4 says "You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below." So, you are wrong. It includes EVERYTHING ANYWHERE, not just "gods". God is allowed to ask Moses to make a bronze serpent, but it is not to be looked at as permission to perform rituals.... This was actually a picture of Christ being lifted up, as Jesus mentions in John 3:14.

      1. We don't worship Mary. We venerate her. When a painting is well-received by reviewers and the public, the artist is honored by the praise his work receives. The artist identifies so closely with his work that praise of the painting is received as praise of his skill and creativity. In the same way, when Catholics honor the saints, they honor God who perfected them in their faith.
Saints are venerated or honored (not worshiped) because their lives reflect God's grace and work within them. By honoring the saints, Catholics acknowledge God's role in their sanctification, ultimately giving glory to Him.
      2. “And the multitude seeing it, feared, and glorified God that gave such power to men.” (Mt 9:8)
Notice that the text does not say “to a man (singular)”; it says, “to men (plural)”. Some translations say “to man” - which is the equivalent of saying “to mankind” or “to the human race”.
Matthew wrote his gospel 30 years after the healing of the paralytic man let down through the roof. As a result, he knew full well that priests in the early church were hearing confessions and forgiving sins, because he was one of the men who had been doing it - just as Jesus had commanded (cf. John 20:22-23).
      3. While both crosses and crucifixes are used in Christian worship, the crucifix holds particular significance for Catholics due to its emphasis on Christ's sacrifice and its role as a devotional aid in prayer and meditation. Paul said, "we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles." (1 Corinthians 1:23) A bare cross does not portray what Jesus did nearly as well.

I find this very, very sad and I am always skeptical of improvised street preachers.
Faith, Religion, and real Christianity come from the Catholic Church.
    - We should remember that the Catholic Church gave us the Bible as the first official list of books contained is what is now the Bible was done at the Council of Hippo in 393. Also, all sacred scriptures have been preserved thanks to the Catholic Church. Where were the protestants and those street preachers?
    - The Christian Catholic Faith is Apostolic, meaning that comes from the Bible and from the Apostles who lived TOGETHER with our Lord Jesus Christ, they heard His Word, and Saw what He did. It does not come from street preachers who claim they understood everything 2000 years later.
    - The Catholic Church was founded when Jesus said to St. Peter: "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven", as found in Gospel of Matthew, chapter 16 verses 13-20”. St. Peter went to Rome and build the Christian Catholic Church.
    - Catholics believe that worship is due to God alone. Catholics do, however, venerate Mary. In other words, we do honor our Blessed Mother with great reverence and devotion because she is the Mother of God. Mary is the model of perfect love and obedience to Christ. God preserved Mary from sin, and she conceived our Lord by the power of the Holy Spirit, bringing Christ into our world. Catholics do honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is full of grace, the Mother of God and our Mother, for her “yes” to God that made the Incarnation possible. And without the Incarnation, we would not have salvation. Mary is the most beautiful model of total submission to the will of God.
    - Finally, the Catholic Church has one teaching - one unified teaching - as opposed to the now 43,000 evangelical (Protestant) groups currently established, with new non-denominational added each day. Their views on everything contradict one other. Sometimes it seems to watch a spectacularized tv show.
Now you can believe all street preachers with their different truths because they all claim to have it and they completely ignore what happened in the past 2000 years. The Catholic Church began with the teachings of Jesus Christ, around 1st Century AD in the province of Judea of the Roman Empire. The Christian Catholic Church is the continuation of the early Christian community established by Jesus - no modern/improvised street preacher can make that claim.
Let’s pray with faith, love, and hope for the unity of all Christians.

I was raised as a catholic, and as a teenager I turned away from my faith. There were many things I never understood about catholicism. Recently I have been reading the Bible every day as I have returned to my faith and I am seeking to develop my relationship with Jesus. One thing I have found that can discredit catholicism is the fact that all the priests insist on being called "Father". Odd, considering Jesus said "And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

      1) Protestants take this passage out of context - read the full text! 2) Using this logic we would be nullifying the fifth commandment - (honour your father and mother). 3) In the New Testament St Paul refers to himself as a 'spiritual father' (see 1 Corinthians).
