  • I think it is a good goal to be able to perform 3 types of capoeira macaco:
    - Macaco Em Pe
    - Macaco
    - Macaquinho
Each of those can be used in different situations. Apart from that... They're fun!
In case you want to see me learning and training the movements, check those videos:

Which of 3 Macacos do you struggle the most with❔

I am training Macaco and Macaquinho and struggling equally with these both 😀
Didn't try Macaco em Pe yet.
I see you start your training with this one, was Macaco em Pe easier for you compared to regular Macaco?

Personally, it took me more time to learn Macaco than Macaco Em Pe. I think Macaco is more difficult as you not only have to flip you body backwards but also you need to build up strength in your legs to do the jump.

Thank u Minhoquinho for your awesome and smooth display of all the monkey movements! I’m spoken before about how I’m not getting younger (I’ll finally be 50 this year!) and my macaco used to be much better and easier to do but now I struggle with flexibility due to age. I just wanna maintain what is still possible and not lose it so soon. Like you I also cannot do most movements like especially back bending ones without warming up fully, haha except Macaquinho! I want to keep doing at least a macaco em pé into my 50s and possibly 60s! Pls help!

      Hey!
What I would say to you is that the only way you can maintain (but also learn new stuff - IT'S NOT TOO LATE FOR YOU!) is:
      a) first and foremost, by getting stronger than you were 10 years ago. This will not be easy and it will require consistency but without strong body that is aging, how can we expect to do crazy stuff. It's impossible. So number 1 thing is, getting stronger. You have to condition your body so that going onto your hands is easy, so that you can easily do push-ups, squats, abdominal exercises etc.
      b) Stretch regularly. Without stretching and will doing crazy capoeira things we will constantly feel pains, get muscle cramps, get muscle stiffness. Stretching is essential.
      c) All above backed up by eating healthy (so for example you do not feel heavy during the training), and getting plenty of sleep :)
There is not magic trick I am afraid. You have to put in work :)
      All the best!
      M.

@@rmcdescabelado Hahaha! Fair enough, it was the same case for me about 1 year ago. Then decided to focus on macacos and it is much better now. Keep training!

@@byMinho my problem is that I am not flexible enough to touch the ground with my hand. Can you show some preparation stretching, exercises to do the macaco?
