Oh without a doubt, one of the most beautifully designed and decorated hotels in the world. I'd love to stay there over the winter and wonder what there is to see and do around the immediate location. I must research this so we get the most out of travelling all the way to Braemar in mid winter. Just magnificent.
You're so right. I'm always searching for hotels that look like something from a period drama rather than one that's modernised for more contemporary, general tastes. I'd love to find something that makes me feel like I'm in a castle or great country estate...that aesthetic. Doesn't matter if it's 18th century Italian, Belle Epoque Parisian or English Victorian-- as long as it's incredibly loyal to period detail and has a warm, theatrical atmosphere and is architecturally intact. As you said, that sort of grand, gasp-inducing glamour is increasingly harder to find these days.
Un hotel-museo, pefo cálido, y lleno de sentimientos. No hay palabras poder verlo, y menos estar ahí, sería un sueño para mí Muchísimas gracias por compartir🙏🙋🏼♀️
We put on the last show for the previous owners back in December 2014 and the place was , to be kind , in need of some TLC . A credit to all involved. Now a hotel the village can be proud of .
Sadly it would have been closed. They unofficially opened in early December to get started and only officially opened this week. It is amazing, everywhere is covered in art, including the walls and ceilings.

What a beautiful hotel, you don't get this old world charm in hotels now😍👍💟
It is beautiful and we're lucky the owners decided to save this old building and create something so magnificent in this small remote village.

It is stunning and the entire hotel is covered in art, with all rooms being individually designed.

Stayed there in 2001. Still remember the great porridge!
Oh I wish I had stayed there whilst touring in Scotland this past September. 💖🦄💐
