Though they can be a pain sometimes, Flexi Rods are a great way to add some volume to natural hair. I've been using them since I decided to start transitioning as a means of blending my new growth and relaxed ends. Now that I'm fully natural, Flexi Rods are a great way for me to switch up my look. This time around, I decided to get some thicker rods because I wanted to go for a big and voluminous curl! Fortunately, I succeeded. Here's a video tutorial to help you achieve this look yourself, enjoy!

Not sure if you’re going to do this but your journey is unique because you have not done any protective styles which is contrary to some mainstream messages. You can do so montage of all your styles thus far “ 2 years natural amazing growth- with no protective styles !” I think that video will go far!

You can use hairpins to create a faux bang by pinning it back as needed and letting the "bang" fall forward.

These curls look great! I also just watched your flexi rod set when your hair was shorter and I wonder which oil you prefer for separating your curls. Do you prefer the Harmonic Healing Oil over the Jane Carter Curls to Go Shine Oil?

For flexi rods, I usually have my hair in a bonnet and a headband to keep the curls more compact

Hey! I think it's the camera lighting but my hair is actually a dark brown if you see me in person. I dyed my hair black with a rinse yeeeeears ago when it was relaxed but haven't in a very long time. And thank you so much!

Can someone tell me if hair has to be blow dried to do flexi rods or even perm rods? I notice perm rods snatch my natural hair when I roll it on. & it doesn’t create a curl on flexi rods.
Hi Courtney, you don't have to blowdry your hair to use flexi rods or perm rods. I achieved this style with wet hair.
