- We are a DIY family trying to build a better life. We like to share projects and regular life updates. Our goals are to create a happy home, live healthy, develop our life skills, and see where our life leads us.
I hope that folks understand that this young couple are not putting Michigan down but explaining how it didn't work for them. The cold was too much. Some people like cold, these two don't. They have an outdoor focus and want more warm weather. They don't hunt. They want to garden. So they moved south. Great choice.
At the end of the day you have to do what’s best for you and yours. Although you wouldn’t catch me in FL with the storms, humidity and snakes and alligators….
I can’t wait to see the place and what they are going to do this time. They are the most industrious couple. Not afraid to get stuck in and work. Bless them…
They have always been truthful. and up front. .. not that thay had to explained anything.. but ...they did ... It's also there choice. Not any one else's. I'm sure it was not an ez choice for any of the family to make. Give up everything.. after ya put your all into this.. it's what's best for there family.. and that's what matters most...
@@thecoz5700 They are very truthful and honest. I don’t blame them for being private. Another Chanel was selling and they had all kinds of issues, just like what they said.
I have to say it was a shock that they moved.
I didn’t expect that, I’m glad they are happy. It does go to show how little you really see about a channels life. They were able to sell move and pack and we were none the wiser. Good for them.

I was born in Michigan, but I never felt like I belonged there. After High School I lived in several states out west, especially Arizona where I lived for most of 4 decades! I loved it out west, but now I have been in Vermont for 20 years. Yes, I'm old! I love Vermont. I don't miss the heat of Arizona at all. I feel very healthy in Vermont. Everyone is DIYfferent!!!!

It took me a couple of days to get over you were leaving Michigan. I'm so happy living in my area of Michigan. I feel Michigan has so much more to offer. I was raised in Michigan and couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there. The state was beautiful, but I had to get out and experience life. Enjoy Florida. I lived there for 4 years and loved it. You deserve to be happy. I have been enjoying your content for a while now.

During the winter when you mentioned that you both found it depressing I thought you really should move somewhere warmer. So I am on the "Yay!" team. This will be the third house I have gotten to watch you renovate. So fun. Whoever got the Michigan house is one lucky family!
I am SOOOO happy for you. It’s overwhelming, BUT, I can see such a wave of relief, relaxation and happiness in Ashley’s face and in her voice. I feel the same way when I’m in Florida. Upstate New York is cold and depressing for 7 months out of the year. My daughter packed up her Jeep and moved to Florida right after she graduated from college six years ago. She says she will never move back to NYS. We plan to buy a fixer upper in Florida when my husband retires in a few years. Maybe keep our house here since it’s paid off. Who knows. I love your sense of adventure and am so happy for your family 🙏🏼❤️

I think that trolls and haters are jealous of families like these who are adventurous, talented, and happy. It's unfortunate that they have to read their messages but at least they can delete them.

In my experience I have found most "haters" are usually envious folks who are too lazy to do something for themselves, so in order to feel relevant, they criticize those who are productive

Some people think that everyone owes them something and they get offended when you don't bow down to them and do what they want. They are mad at everything.
@@diyfferent I just figured you are building up your Equity even more as you guys sold your place in Michigan. We sold 4 places and each time our Equity kept growing. We now have no Mortgage and enjoying Retirement. I can’t wait to see the next video. I hope it will be soon.
Never live with regrets, life is too short. I thought as a barber i would never be able to retire. But i am on Aug 2 2021 early retirement as i turn 62 on the 3rd. Just like ya'll kept your dreams on Fla and here you are. It takes a lot of discipline to set a course as you guys have. Im glad you did and now see fruition of that desire. No time for what if's.... Just do it..I was born in Fla, traveled around the world some thanks to the US govt. And have lived in northern middle Tn for most of my life. My moves are done, no more. But my adventures are just beginning as yours are. You guys are smart in how you handled the move from Mich. Good job Kids

I live in Massachusetts and also own a home in florida.. I go 5 times a year…. I LOVE florida !! The state is clean, people are friendly and no snow!!!! When I retire in 9 yrs it will be the move I can’t wait to do. My son lives here and he is the only person I will miss. I so happy for you guys!!!👊🏻💯❤️

My UA-cam algorithm must’ve been triggered cos all your old videos keep popping up! It’s been 2 years so I thought I’d look at this again. I really could identify with your feelings up north. I was born in the US, Utica NY to immigrant parents from the UK. I lived in both countries growing up, but my most formative years were in NJ. I never fit in cos everyone thought my family was ‘weird’-we didn’t watch football on Sundays, our family car was a 13 yrs old Volvo (it was seen as very unpatriotic not to buy an American car & kids teased me about the ‘old’ ugly car); we only had a little B&W tv cos it wasn’t a priority to us. Moved to UK at 15 & fit in, went to nursing school BUT met a man & moved to US to marry him, had children, lived & worked in Rochester NY. BACK TO NOT FITTING IN. THE SOCIAL PRESSURES ON ME, MY KIDS, TO CONFORM WAS SO INAPPROPRIATE FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD. People couldn’t accept anyone who was different. I lived for my family but hated living under those circumstances. When my husband of 25 yrs left me for someone else & kids were grown I returned to visit family in the UK & met my now husband. I feel I belong here and live in a multicultural area where there’s no pressure to conform & I can just be myself. My sons hope to move here too, they feel at home here- but they also see the US as home. I hadn’t thought about this in awhile, but thought I’d share with you, as I really connected with everything you were saying about not fitting in in MI. I’m so glad you took that leap of faith & have found the place that’s right for you- & over the past 2 years I’ve seen how happy all of you are there. What a gift that is.

It's none of my business at all and I only know what I've seen on the videos but I've thought many times that Ashley looked very unhappy in Michigan. It's like some turned the light back on and I'm glad to see you found a way to do what works best for YOUR goals.

I know Michigan is not for everyone. But when it comes to your happiness, you have to do what's best for your family. For me I like the 4 seasons, but now as I get older the colder weather is more of a challenge. Or should I say the snow. So it doesn't matter what others say you are the paying the bills not them. Congratulations on your move.

Welcome to Florida from a family of native Floridians! My favorite thing about FL is, just about anything you want to do is a day trip away. Beaches, Theme Parks, lakes, shopping, etc. Family oriented state with the best Governor in the entire US, in my opinion. If you ever need anything, you have at least one family in Northeast Florida that will help in any way we can. God Bless You!

The beach.are not very nice at this time ..there is red tide on the west cost ... So I'd stay away from it... Not pleasant .... The storm blew it in..nothing but dead fish every where...

Well I'm happy for you...but I think many of us were under the impression while watching you endlessly rebuilding another house and Declaring that you finally got what you were looking for....which made us all cheer you on more....cause we were happy for you. I live in Michigan and I understand why you moved.....but wow Florida.....I was wondering after you got the house finished how long it would be till you found the next house.....the bus was ok.....but houses are what your best at....wish you guys the best always....and I sure hope things go well for you there.....
The military transplanted me from Maine 30 years ago; that 7-8 month winter you had up there you are going to love down here. The summers can be tough; just try to get up early and complete your work before lunch. Also there is no hurry to complete things before the first snowfall. Last but not least welcome to Florida!
I Love Michigan, in the summer and early fall. Being on the beaches of the Great Lakes and all of the beautiful parks and trails. I don't like winter so I escape to your state. I suffer from seasonal affective disorder and my depression gets worse in the winter. Sunshine helps as does the the waves of the gulf. Ashley won't have to bundle up as much in Florida. She is precious and a hard worker. So what if you like rehabbing houses. It's a great occupation and one which you can be creative. People are just jealous because you have the guts to choose your lifestyle and follow your dreams.
In Florida there is one season HOT.. I miss the changes of the season. If this makes you Happy then do it. You get one time here on earth so Live your BEST LIFE NOW !!!!! Wishing you the BEST...

We always lived in the south but then moved out west. Found out we are definitely made to be planted in the south. So that’s where we moved back to. Things work out where you’re suppose to be otherwise it just doesn’t work. Hope you’re where you’re suppose to be and it works out great!

You and your family worked so hard. You finished renovation and you did a wonderful job. Then you also bought a horse and donkey. You also bought chicken. You sold them all. Then i loved how you renovated the barn. That turned out great too. But when you bought the bus that didnt flow well with me. Then you added the hitch. That confused me even more. Then you added WE MOVED. That was a eureka moment. It will be fun to see you settle down and your diys. Also the places you will visit. 👍
Well, we needed to add a hitch to the bus to be able to pull the trailer so it had to be done regardless of moving :) Our second vehicle, when we get one, will be a small car. Thanks!

We moved from Michigan to Florida too and it was SO GREAT for our mental health!! I used to get seasonal depression and really struggled with winters. So many people had a lot to say about it but you have to do what’s best for you and your family, and only you know what that is. I hope you all really enjoy your new home!

I moved from Illinois because I hated the Climate, Cost of Living, and the Commute (I lived in the suburbs, but worked in Chicago - 3 hours every day). I've been here for over 20 years and love it. My parents were from the south so I think I was born with southern blood. I'll be praying that you will be happy.

Congratulations. Welcome to Florida. I too am a Michigan transplant. I didn't like the cold and snow either. This will be like ancient history, but in 1976 we came here and never left. It will be an adjustment, mostly fun, but Doug, you're going to have to change your clothing color to a lighter one, you will cook wearing black all the time .. LOL One thing I would suggest doing now, hurricane season has started and to have a supply of food, water and necessary items, incase power goes out. Enjoy your new adventure, look forward to seeing your new life.

You guys are amazing. I’ve watched u remake 2 houses and I know you have done at least 3. The first one u remade TO sell. But the other 2 I thought were ur forever homes. You put so much into these projects. And then sell them. Someone benefits from all ur hard work. And I’m sure they are thrilled. U don’t slap it together.
