- In part 3 I am installing a thimble in a cast net. If your installing a thimble in a newly made cast net or modifying an older cast net this is a way to do it correctly.

Thanks so much for putting these out! I know I'm a little late to the table, but I'm working on sourcing what I need to make one. Where do you get the Thimbles? I have found twine, weights, swivels, and needles online, but I've only found nylon thimbles. I even tried searching for cast net horns and haven't been successful. Also, about how much #4 twine would one need to make a 6 foot net? At any rate, thanks again for your clear and concise instructions and the time you've put in!
When finishing the net itself to its final length and installing the lead line, wherever the last row of mesh end, there is a stagger from the previous round of mesh and the row of final mesh making the final net edge where the lead line ties to, to be uneven. How do you remedy that? Where my very last mesh is, there is a stagger from the mesh row above making a uneven edge to attach a lead line to neatly.
Your lead line will be fine and it will work they same without any problems. Your net is solid and your lead line will hold up to more stress then commercially made nets. I am glad you made a net. It will last for ever.

Sorry, I never sell nets. I make all kinds for deferent uses. My nets are made for a targeted reason, be it freshwater or saltwater. Then made according to the target bait or food.

I normally finish a net in a few weeks of my spare time.

Would it work?
I am sure it would but also remember that is designed as fishing line and not originally designed for use on nets. I am sure it would suit your needs. If it’s a heavy line, you may want to adjust the amount of weight you use so it will sink at a good rate.
