Now you gotta check out Halloween II (1981). It continues on the same night, right after this one. This is one of the greatest films of all time, it's in the congressional library's film registry board. It's a list of films deemed "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant" that are recommended for preservation by those holding the best elements for that film. Around 900 films on that list, out of millions made. Carpenter wrote Myers to be the actual boogeyman. He said he's a human, but he has a supernatural edge. He was only gonna do this one film, and the ending was supposed to scare people as it implies that you can't kill the boogeyman, with them showing all the places he's been in the movie, and his breathing getting heavier. It suggests that he can be everywhere, and nowhere. Another fun fact is that the movie cost $325,000, half of it went to the camera and lenses. The Myers house is in Pasadena, CA, they were gonna demolish it in 1987 but a guy who is not even a fan of the movie, realized what the house meant stopped it, and they actually designated it as a historic site. So they moved the house down the street as they were building condos there. The street where Myers is looking at Laurie as she sings walking away it's all the way down there at the intersection. When watching Halloween, you always have to remind yourself of Halloween culture in America. Pranks being a major one. So it's hard to tell what's jokes and what's serious and on a day like that. Someone standing around with a mask on? It's the perfect day to do it on because almost everyone is wearing masks. That's what makes the use of the holiday is perfect. So, when Laurie went over to Lindsey's house after the weirdness on the phone, she genuinely thought her friends were just picking on her as usual and making her the butt of a joke/prank. Same as the neighbor that closed the blinds when Laurie was at the door screaming for help. It's Halloween in a small, quiet town, people are gonna think, "Oh, just bored teenagers trying to prank people", especially in the 1970s. That's part of the horror. It's just a normal small town neighborhood. Since y’all are checking out the earlier movies of the series, the golden age of horror/slasher films, I recommend ya’ll react to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (70s) it’s about the same feel as Friday The 13th 🪓and Halloween. 🎃
Of the 'big 3' of late 70s/early 80s horror (Halloween, F13, Elm Street), Halloween comes out the gate strongest. Carpenter's chilling score, the use of lingering POV shots coupled with heavy breathing (something Black Christmas did a few years before), and showing the lurking killer to build suspense all combine really well here into an icon of early slashers. The series does go off the rails pretty quick when they bring Mikey back after attempting to go in a new direction with 3 (which is good, but not what fans were expecting). By the time Halloween 4 came out, there were already a half dozen insane F13 sequels (and a handful of Elm Streets) so horror fans had really latched on to it being the killers who carry the series, for better or worse, and Halloween jumped on the trend 😅
I agree with other watch the second one because it’s this same night and finishes it off so don’t watch any others u til that one but I also liked season of the witch,4,5 and curse of Michael Myers’s, resurrection and of course the new Halloween series from 2018 on. Halloween started it all so this is the original before Jason.
The old halloween franchise series laurie is considered michael myers sister even in the remake rob zombies but when they came out with halloween 2018 halloween kills and ends they erased all the series old ones based off of original 1978 he was incarcerated 40 years made to were laurie was just a baby sitter not his sister in this series
No one is saying that. We expect the teens to get killed in these slasher movies. It's a trope. They're always the ones being stalked. This is why we have a final girl. The slashers go through all of the rest until they get to the last one. Murdering pets, little kids and even the elderly is considered petty and pathetic. They pose no threat and are typically innocent and defenseless.
There are a couple editing errors but on that budget it is understandable. Also, you guys realize he follows her because she walked onto the porch. Psychopath is reason enough.
Sam & Tristan just in case both of y'all love birds are curious Michael The Boogeyman/The Shape Myers was Originally designed/made 2 be an almost Supernatural Force (Superhuman Physique (with Superhuman Durability as well as Superhuman Physical Arm Strength of unknown degree/limit) & who's Supernaturally Edged: Supernatural Healing Factor with each n every kill + seems 2 have the Ability 2 Teleport 2 virtually wherever he wants) a virtually Indestructible/Unillable/Unstoppable Evil Force of Nature that's loose & though he may appear/look/seem human 2 the both of y'all except he's not entirely human otherwise he would've died + stayed dead after every fatal Physical Thing that's been done/happened 2 him!
You two actually get the reason why Michael went after Laurie. She was the first woman he saw at his house dropping off the key and she reminded him of his sister Judith.
Fun fact... Sean Cunningham director of the first Friday The 13th... Directly ripped off Halloween, and he even admits it. Because he seen the critical success of Halloween. So if it wasn't for Halloween, Friday The 13th would of never existed.
Think about this.. Michael killed his sister with a chefs knife/butcher knife while wearing a clown costume and mask... and not a drop on himself. Now that's showmanship!
By today's standards. what would you consider scary? What movie has come out that has the benefit of being scarier just because it was made within the last few years?
Great reaction! just subscribed i really don’t like films from this era being called (Old) there are various issues but, if you go back 20 earlier Horror was silly and aimed at kids (Without Psycho, TX Chainsaw Massacre, The Exorcist & Night of the Living Dead Horror in North America would’ve never evolved (But, the entire Slasher Sub genre was ripped-off from Italy with the Giallo) The Giallo is ground zero for every American slasher (it doesn’t get nearly enough credit for influencing North America
The thing about Michael is he looks very average. That is why the strength he displays is so unsettling. Nick Castle was told to just walk from spot to spot. Dick Warlock mimicked it pretty well in part 2. Ever since until Halloween 2018 no one else has been able to just walk for some reason. Also the masks are horrible. At least watch part 2 and then skip to 2018 if you prefer.Part 2 ends this story and 2018 continues from the first in an alternate timeline.
I know Halloween has a lot of acclaim but Black Christmas from 1974 is far superior and scarier in my opinion. The killer in that is way more creepy as well. I'm pretty sure John Carpenter was largely inspired by that when he made Halloween.

If you watch the 1st.you have to watch them all.Good or bad.
You will understand why he wanted her when you watch Halloween 2 1981
Think about this.. Michael killed his sister with a chefs knife/butcher knife while wearing a clown costume and mask... and not a drop on himself. Now that's showmanship!
When the girl got stuck in the window, all I could think of was help stepbro. 😂
you need jesus
@@TheNotoriousNemo so do you
By today's standards. what would you consider scary?
Can you guys please react to the rest of the Halloween series? ❤
Have you guys ever seen dark knight or casino royale?
“Older horror isn’t going to be as scary”.Seriously? They are so much better than the garbage out there now.
Watch the 80s "the thing" please
How is it the first time for American watching this movie?
What happened to the MCU guys? come on!
why did Bob say, "then we rip Lyndsey's clothes off....." Isn't Lyndsey the little girl??
I know it was meant to be a joke but it was so cringe.
Even for the time, it was bizarre to include that.
Yeah. I knew his death was secured then 😂
They should’ve said something else like “and then we lock Lindsay in her room so she can’t see or say anything..”
@@ChrisCollins068 Yes, I don't know what the writer was thinking.
Nice! Hope you'll also watch "It Follows." The tone/style is inspired by Halloween.
He killed his sister? He killed his mom too? No, there on a prom date stupid, He,s really stocking too 🤣😂🤣🤪🤪
You should really watch Halloween 2 (81) and Halloween h20 (1998)..they are make a great trilogy. The new (2018-2022) is shit. For fun, you can watch Halloween 4,5,6 and the rob zombie Remakes 😊
Yeesh the Zombie movies are hot garbage. I'll take the new trilogy over that mess.
Best said the original trilogy is 1 2 from 81 and h20
4,5,6 and Rob Zombies Halloween over 2018 2021? You must be high or something
@@ashen_BA-Pillman nipe, 2018 and "Kills" and "Ends" are shit. They're absolute trash. Completely unlikable characters, stupid, incredibly stupid scenes ("Kills" car scene) and Laurie is absolute trash. 4/5/6 are also trash but nice trash. Zombies are not so bad how many people say.
@@Itsalongtime86 I grew up on Rob Zombie Halloween would understand why everyone likes it, but 2018 and 2021 were better than than the ones after 81, 22 is the worst one
Laurie is his sister.

You spoiler 😡😡😡
Why are you spoiling it for them?
you should really watch halloween 2018 and halloween kills. the old (halloween 2 through halloween h2o) are shit
Nope Halloween 2 and 4 are THE shit 🫶
@@ChrisCollins068 Halloween with that little kid was spooky AF! That was 4 and 5 I think.
Halloween 2018, "kills" and "ends " are shit. They made Laurie so unlikable and all the other characters around her have the IQ of a banana. Halloween 2 from 1981 is a great sequel on the same night. And Halloween H20 is a really successful and, above all, exciting sequel with a lot of love for the original and a great conclusion. Not like the horrible ending in "ends
