I landed on Parris Island on April 1, 1956, a week before the Ribbon Creek tragedy. At that time we learned to recite in union, a chant that began: "We love Parris Island, the land that God forgot where the sand is fourteen inches deep and the sun is scorching hot." That's all I remember of it, so are there any other former Marines like me (age 82) who happen to remember the rest of the chant?

They are looking to destroy your career in the AF, no unit cohesion and morale at all. If a motivation speech is enough to make someone cry during the Marine boot camp, it means they are doing something right, and that is how you train a future Marine that defends America, from foreign and domestic enemies.
This isn’t what I remember going through..where’s the speed, intensity and volume and when did we start PT with WM’s. Also last I checked we didn’t address DI’s by their rank until we got out EGA’s.
That's why they did it. The constant yelling builds up the lungs allowing stronger sustained effort. Nothing in boot is done by chance, so I don't understand why they seem to have dropped it. Half of my PLT had no voice when we graduated.
It’s funny everyone saying how soft the new corps is. I went through almost 20 years ago and other than the integrated training and the plastic footlockers it looks about the same to me. I guarantee these recruits and DI’s are still as badass as it was when I went through and when some of you even older devils went through. Stay hard Marines! S/f
James Bauchert exactly, almost 11 years ago for me but how in gods name can it be complete without a piece of wood going under your thumb nail from locking and unlocking 80-100 times

Crazy that instead of just watching the videos right now I’ll be shipping to boot in November
I'm leaving July 15 to San Diego
Most fun I've ever had in my life.
I ship on Feb. 3rd of 2020... I'm Confident with a slight bit of Nervousness.
Determined.
And Motivated..
💪🏻
I landed on Parris Island on April 1, 1956, a week before the Ribbon Creek tragedy. At that time we learned to recite in union, a chant that began: "We love Parris Island, the land that God forgot where the sand is fourteen inches deep and the sun is scorching hot." That's all I remember of it, so are there any other former Marines like me (age 82) who happen to remember the rest of the chant?
The sun is blazing hot.
And everyday he'll wake up,
Before the rising sun.
He'll run a hundred miles or more,
Before the day is done.
He's deadly with a rifle,
A bayonet made of steel.
He's took the Devils calling card,
He's mastered how to kill.
And when he gets to heaven,
St. Peter he will tell.
One more Marine reporting Sir,
I've served my time in hell.
So listen all you young girls,
To what I have to say.
Go out and find a young marine,
To love you everyday.
He'll hug you and he'll kiss you,
And treat you like a queen.
There is no better fighting man,
Than a UNITED STATES MARINE!
I just graduated Boot 3RTBN ICO FOLLOW 2018. These are Marines, acting like recruits. There’s no way they would call by rank, before receiving their EGAs. And the training are beginning to transition both male and female in one company, working as teams. Still, it’s great to see my SDI and DIs going another cycle of training.
Moises Miranda I’m ain’t Boot son
@@daboi3533 Alright Lance Corporal, I know how much you hate being stuck at Quantico as 3432 Fin. Tech and jealous of your battle buddies doing something better overseas, but you don’t have to go around being a bitch about. BTW, tell Brit Marines good luck out in range tomorrow.
You just joined. You are in fact, a boot. The only accomplishment you have is completing boot camp.
You can tell that they were marines. Due to glowbelts around waist and wearing timepieces.
First Name Funny how I’m in a fleet and be called Boot
6:55 for floppy Timmy
(No disrespect intended, just noting that he looked funny trying to show off for the camera)
Not even proper push ups lmao
@@jonathanramirez232 if camera can see your face, are you in correct position?
My son was at the Parris Island, SC 2013 platoon 3002 M company, 3rd RTBN- served almost 11 years dread almost 6 months ago😢😢in San Diego after his return from Japan 😢
You think bootcamp is hard but just wait you'll realise bootcamp was the easiest thing you'll do in the marine corps
Tristan Evans Especially when you play games like, “GET BACK,” “STRIP,” or “WHO JUST MOCK THE DI?”
Tristan Evans Facts
Yall sound like panzys
@@jamesandfriendsfishingadve5061 are you even a marine?
Tristan Evans lmao no it’s not
The old "Slide for Life". Remember it well. Platoon 395, India Co, 3rd Bn MCRD Parris Island Oct-Dec 73.
Devil dogs, miss my time there Bravo company 1040.
I ship out on October 28th. Wish me luck!
Forced out Air Force veteran here, let's just say the AF is a sorry mess where young Airmen are complaining about everything plus terrible NCO and SNCO.
They're Marines acted as recruits, but not getting hazed, and the India Co try out a thing called, "Gender-Integrated Company"
This was my boot camp video. We addressed them by rank because we had already gotten our EGAs. This was Marine PT.
That was my senior drill instructor
Dylan Bryant who was it
Jacob Hastings ssgt mcEldoon
“Don’t say anything just sprint” I had to keep saying aye sir during the CFT witch was BS because it made you more tired.
What company you graduated from
25th of Baam India
That's why they did it. The constant yelling builds up the lungs allowing stronger sustained effort. Nothing in boot is done by chance, so I don't understand why they seem to have dropped it. Half of my PLT had no voice when we graduated.
White socks, go fasters scream aye sir. Lol hated that from CDI Gunnery Sergeant Shedd.
Tylere Simpkins yessir 😂. What platoon were you? I was 3045
3044
When did you go to boot?
He was my senior drill instructor.
3098 Kilo Co
I was with Charlie Company, Graduate of PLT 1070, I miss this everyday even if I hated it
It’s funny everyone saying how soft the new corps is. I went through almost 20 years ago and other than the integrated training and the plastic footlockers it looks about the same to me. I guarantee these recruits and DI’s are still as badass as it was when I went through and when some of you even older devils went through. Stay hard Marines! S/f
You haven't done close order drill til you've done it with wooden a footlocker!
James Bauchert exactly, almost 11 years ago for me but how in gods name can it be complete without a piece of wood going under your thumb nail from locking and unlocking 80-100 times
@@8526Productions true that. And the sound of a plastic footlocker hitting the far wall just cannot sound as terrifying.
James Bauchert not to mention having to constantly move your footlocker on line and then back off when they all weren’t perfectly even? Your hands would be covered in splinters and your arms would be dead. These mfers lucked out.
I went September 23, 2019-December 20, 2019, Kilo Company, Parris Island, SC
My ship date is December 9th, and I couldn't be more excited! My running time isn't yet qualifying, but I'm close.
Whats your ist numbers now
@@UberCoffeeTime ha, funny thing is... I'm in the Army now. The Marines didn't give me the job I was promised and overscored for, so I'm with the Army now
I ship on July 13, 2020 to MCRD San Diego almost a month after I graduate high school.
Wtf happened to real foot lockers???? Is it really a hurricane if the footlockers flying around the room arnt steel???
At what point and where did you go to boot camp? Footlockers have always been wooden
@@justinhunsinger482 they have never been wood, also the ones in the video are plastic bins. I used the same ones that had been used since Vietnam era, big metal ones that weighed a ton. I graduated boot in 2011.
John Marine we used wooden ones when I was there for the first few weeks then we got the plastic ones
@@benphillips5517 guess to many recruits cries about the metals ones being thrown at them.. if you never saw a 5 foot 2 drill instructor hurl a metal 45 pound footlocker across the squad bay, did you even go to bootcamp though??
@@benphillips5517 also PI has always made softer Marines anyways... maybe its just a PI thing. Hollywood Marines!

Sarah Elders good luck!! I have 2 brothers in the Marines and another brother just went to boot camp 3 weeks ago I believe but from what my oldest brothers told us that it’s just a giant (mind) game. Play the game and you’ll be fine

Wtf is this ?... “ayyy Sgt?!”
As a recruit .... wth happened to my marine corps
Is Boot camp Co ed now ??!?
Bryan Nunez, no. The men and women train separately.
India has been the only co ed CO due to lack of numbers for females at that time. Every other group of females after India has been picked up to 4th rtbn.
At that point their Marines addressing them by rank. Notice the glow strap around their waist. This video goes from 1st phase all the way to the new 4th phase which is 13 days on the island as a Marine
